Author's Eyes(End)

"Blue, can you show me the chapter where Ray receives his heavenly eyes? I think it should be present in the edited version."

Ray rubbed his eyes to make sure he read the correct information. The skill seemed way too overpowered for no reason.

According to his supporter, the skill remained active as long as Ray maintained his mana flow. Once he mastered his mana flow, the skill would become a passive skill.

"Now I have two overpowered skills so early on. I never thought my luck would be this good…" Ray murmured.

From what he understood, having two skills like this during the first scenario was not normal. His gamer experience told him this much. ||

"That's enough."

Alongside the words echoing inside my mind, Blue presented me with the white screen containing the edited version of the novel.

Now that the plot strayed away from the original novel, listening to or reading the original version did not make any sense. The edited version was much better as it showed the latest details

'Blue, from now onwards, don't tell me about the original version until I specifically ask for it.'

< As you wish. >

With a sigh, I closed the window and shifted my attention towards the hologram which showed Ray live in action.

"When I met you in that beautiful space, the edited version showed that Ray was present inside the university. Since he is fighting right now, he must have left the university for some reason."

< Yeah, you are right about that. Ray must have some motive for leaving the university and coming to this location to fight. >

"Hmm…"

---

With his eyes focused on the incoming horde of beasts, Ray continued to throw one shadow ball after the other. The shadow ball would hit its target and expand to wrap around it.

Once they completely wrapped a beast, the shadows tightened and killed the beast in one shot.

Countless windows opened in front of him, displaying the rewards he obtained after killing all the beasts.

"This should be enough. I should head back to the university…" Ray murmured.

The number of beasts around him decreased a lot. Ray no longer needed to farm them for coins.

"Stepping out of the safe zone was the right decision."

With those last words, he turned away from the beasts and started heading back to the university.

---

As Ray walked away from the remaining beasts, the hologram vanished. Like always, many questions appeared inside my mind and I didn't have any answers for them.

One thing was true. Seeing Ray in action confirmed how overpowered he was.

Sure I killed five Ahuizolts and the pterodactyls but I was knocked out both of those times. Ray managed to kill three times the number of beasts in less than five minutes and didn't bat an eye.

"So many things are different…"

I started massaging my forehead. Thinking too much hurt my brain.

< You don't need to worry too much. You can always read the edited version to see what Ray is planning. > Blue pointed out.

"Can I read it now to figure out why he left the university?"

< Well, you can do that. The current events are a part of an 'Ongoing' chapter. You can see an ongoing chapter and read its details even if you don't want to rewrite it. >

"I see. Speaking of rewriting, how does it work? I rewrite things and the past changes?"

< It's complicated. The 'Ongoing' chapter doesn't follow the same timings of the real world. It works five minutes into the future. Anything you read in it occurs five minutes later in the real world.

So if you rewrite something, you are changing the events that will transpire five minutes later. The bigger the change, the more drained you will be. Obviously, many restrictions will prevent you from making a major change. >

"I see… it's complicated indeed."

From what I managed to figure out, I had the power to change the future. The one time I tried rewriting drained me a lot so I wasn't tempted to do it again.

I decided to keep writing as a last resort attack to save myself from unpredictable situations.

"Show me the latest ongoing chapter."

< As you wish. >

|| Chapter 25(Ongoing)

Ray felt a bit tired after repeatedly spamming his skills for the past few minutes. His muscles felt sore and a minor headache irritated him.

Though Ray received a warning beforehand about the after effects of spamming the skills, he expected himself to remain fine.

"At least I managed to get so many glens. If things proceed like I want them to proceed, I can buy that item from the shop."

The item Ray had in mind was a unique item only accessible to certain individuals whose supporters were very high leveled.

That particular weapon was something Ray had his eyes on since the beginning of the apocalypse. It paired well with his main skills and allowed him to create some unique combos.

After traveling for five minutes, Ray reached the entrance of the safe zone for the second time. The blue barrier protecting the university gathered the attention of all the humans and beasts in the area.

Fortunately, the beasts couldn't enter the barrier and roamed around in the perimeter in search of humans to prey on.

That was the main reason Ray was able to farm out a ton of glens and rewards. He hunted around the perimeter of the barrier and harvested the rewards until he got tired.

"Maybe I should try finding a couple of humans…"

… ONGOING ||

"Wow."

Reading the ongoing chapter provided me with a lot of insight on Ray's thoughts. His actions made sense considering the fact that he was looking for a weapon he would use for more than half of the novel.

What didn't make sense was the fact that this should have happened after the second scenario.

Ray's supporter revealed all this information later on. Other than that, Ray calmly handled the situation unlike the original version.

I created his character to be nervous in the beginning before turning into an a ruthless protagonist after experiencing numerous betrayals.

The current Ray I saw and read about did not resemble the character I created.

< Michael, don't overthink too much. Some things are just out of your control. > Blue reassured.

"I know but I can't stop myself from doing it."

< Try thinking about the things you can control. For example, think about all the things you are going to do in the second scenario. >

"Right, the second scenario will begin soon. There are some things I have to take care of."

A dark expression appeared on my face as I remembered something horrible from the novel.

If the first scenario was terrible, the second scenario was horrifying. Funnily, the second scenario didn't revolve around killing or defeating beasts because it was boring to watch.

The second scenario focused on putting humans against humans. The Entertainers wanted the humans to turn against their own race and murder as many people as possible.

Another key factor in the second scenario was the appearance of the supporters. Once the first scenario was over, the viewers gained the ability to interact with the living beings of the planet.

They could offer their support to any person they liked. If the latter accepted the offer, the person would have a supporter.

'I have to prevent a major event from happening.'

No matter what happened, I needed to stop a certain event from taking place. Stopping it was even more important that completing the second scenario.

'Blue, you know what we have to do, right?'

< I do. It won't be easy but yes, we have to do it. >

'I agree.'

< By the way, I think you are about to wake up. >

'How can you tell?'

< Look at your body. >

I glanced downwards and saw my body slowly fading from its location. I took one last glance around the library, embedding its image inside my mind.

My gut told me that I would be back here soon.

"Until next time."

Those were my last words before I turned into particles of light and vanished.

From now onwards, I will use italics for certain parts of the novel while they are being described in the chapter.
