20 The Unexpected Visitor

In the evening, I was walking towards my workshop, which has now turned into a lab as my birthday present. Since I didn't ask for anything this time, my uncle thought about rebuilding the workshop into a big lab. It was pretty thoughtful of him. Turning the workshop into a lab sped up my experiments and the suit-making progress. While Wally was designing the suit, I was conducting experiments on the cells of various creatures.

As I was about to walk into the lab, I noticed that the lights were on. I walked back a few steps to check the motion sensor I placed beside the door. It was not lit up.

"Is this motion sensor broken or something? I am sure that the lights were off when I left." I wondered.

"Are you sure that you didn't forget to turn it off?" Ryuk asked.

"As sure as I can be. Plus, I don't forget something so easily as you do." I replied. "Unless someone has the same genetics as me..." At that moment, I realized something. It was ridiculous to think about, but there was a possibility that it could be true.

I walked into the lab only to find someone wearing the same suit that I was trying to create. The man was around six feet tall, two times my size.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. By then, I had figured out who that man was.

"Trying to help you out." He said, turning around.

"I mean... Why are you in this timeline? I do not think I need your help with anything, currently," I asked.

He was the future version of me, which means that he can freely travel through time. Making portals to a specific timeline needs a lot of practice. If I tried to open a portal in my current state, I would fail. It would take me years of experience to do something like that. So, that means he is probably around thirty years old.

"I see that you have figured out my age. Well... It wasn't a secret that I was supposed to protect. So, I would let that slide. However, before I can help you... I need you to do something for me. Build a bunker, a place where the time-wraiths will not be able to find me." He said.

"If you are from the future, then tell me one thing... Where should I build the bunker?" I asked.

"Anything I say won't matter because you will give me a random answer," he said.

"Ok, but... Why are the time wraiths after you? What are you trying to help me with?" I asked. I wanted to ask many questions, but I calmed myself. If curiosity can kill a cat, it can kill a human as well.

"In the near future, there will come a time when you will need to sacrifice someone precious to you. I came here to prevent that from happening." He turned around, touching the glass container where the suit was kept. "You will lose all your emotions, forget your goals, and those who are important to you."

"You want to erase an entire timeline to save one person?" Back then, I could not understand how he felt. I said those words because I did not understand why he did something like this.

"You know the difference between a hero and a villain?" He asked me.

"According to the world, one is good and the other is evil." I shrugged.

"That is how the world sees us. However, in reality, we are the only people who care. A hero will kill their entire family to save the world, but a villain would destroy the world to save their family." Although he did not take off his mask, I could sense that he was smiling.

"... Is that why those time-wraiths are chasing you?" I asked.

"That and because it is my first time time-travelling. I may have caused some problems." He scratched his head.

"All right, but do help me out. I can't build a bunker by myself." I said. "Can you also help me make some adjustments to the suit?"

"Yes, I will. Trust me, you need to make a lot of adjustments to it. It is going to be hectic." He shakes his head. "I don't even remember the number of times I had to upgrade it."

I guess I won't be able to sleep tonight either.

The Next Day

--------------

I got prepared early in the morning to leave on time. The ceremony was in the afternoon. So we had plenty of time. We left early because my uncle wanted me to meet his friends.

The ceremony was held in a giant building owned by Paragon. It was free of cost. It is also held every five years. Paragon set up this event to scout for potential talents to join their ranks. Those who are recruited by them will have to live separately from their parents to train their mentality and turn them into heroes who only know how to follow orders.

The Major families, like The Flash Family, also scout their members from there. Speedsters can only be trained by speedsters. Aura users can only be trained by veteran Guilds. Magicians can only be trained by the Magic Tower. Auxillary talents are groomed by the Merchants Association.

"Nolan!" my uncle called out.

"Don't call out my name in public!" Nolan shouted. He had black hair and black eyes with quite a robust build. He was wearing a black coat and black jeans, along with a tophat. He was Christian Nolan, the current strongest person in the world, also known as Domain Master.
