Chapter 2: Misfortune Before a Disaster

"ERICA! ERICA! How many times have you not pated the monthly rent! You kept saying It'll be payed once you publish your novel! but until now no payment was given!"

"Its the landlord again *sigh*

I'll pay it this afternoon" I replied.

"you better be" the landlord said as she leaves.

I took my bag and went to the grocery store, there I met a familiar face "Kacey?" i whispered. As I approach her, she looked back "Erica!" She shouted loudly as if she has never seen me for decades.

"ahh you've been so busy this days, I can't even hang out with you more often" she happily said while wrapping her arms around me.

"take your hands off, you might suffocate me..." as she takes her arms off me. She asked me a question that I did not expect to hear.

"How's your new novel? the one you're currently writing"

I stood there as if my feet are glued to the ground.

"How...do you know about that?"

I asked as I look down from shame.

"Don't be silly, I'm your friend. I know the things you do even without telling me" she replied with a wide smile that made my body shiver.

I never told anyone that I'm a novel writer...no one knows. But why...is she suddenly bringing it up?....

You must be asking, "It's your friend, why make such a big deal when she found out you wrote countless of novels?" It's not that simple... I make a living out of writing, I don't want to get looked down by friends. It's, pathetic.

"Kacey, I'll be going first. I still have lots to do"

I said while putting a forced smile to my face.

I went home and sat on my table...

"Should I upload the webnovel?.."

I asked myself...

Without thinking I tapped the Upload button and went to bed. Just as I was about to close my eyes, someone knocked on my door.

"Leave" The landlord said without hesitations.

"What did you say...?" I asked with my eyes wide open.

"There will be a new tenant living here, so leave while i still have the patience or I might throw all your things out by force"

I stood there not knowing what to do, thoughts wandered upon my head.

"what to do" "what will happen to me?" "will i be homeless?" "what if kacey sees me like this?" "what if everyone sees me like this"

I'm...done for....
