1 THE AWAKENING

8 YEAR OLD AUDREY'S POV

  Mum and dad were summoned by her royal highness the queen to be given a noble title because they helped when there was a rebellion.

We are from a small village on the outskirts of the Empire. My parents often traveled to the empire because my dad is a 'shadow knight' a magical special task force who work for the empire.

My father helped stop the rebellion even though he got weak while on a special mission and had to retire, so he used up his magic to stop the rebellion while my mum healed the injured with her 'GIFT'. I was so happy when the royal messenger brought the message. After much crying and begging, mum and dad finally let me tag along. I put on a pretty white dress.

"Mum," I asked, "Why can't we bring Andy?"

"Well, Andy is little, but you will be able to take care of yourself because you are well behaved." she replied as she kissed my forehead.

We boarded a carriage that was sent by the empire and proceeded with our journey. The only way we could get to the empire is through the blue forest and it was dangerous to travel through it.  I was looking out the window when I heard the wheel of the carriage squeak. Before I could comprehend what was going on, I was flung out of the carriage through the window as the carriage smashed into a tree. My vision was blurry and my whole body ached when i tried to move, but i only had one thing on my mind; where my parents okay?

"Mum,dad!" I called out, but my voice was too raspy so I started coughing as everywhere was getting misty and I could here whispers and faint cries for help. Wait! Mist! I thought to my self as i knew it only meant one thing; OUR LIVES OUR IN DANGER!!!

 I remembered when my father once told me that one of the dangers of the blue forest were the wild beasts that traveled in the mist.The mist carried the lost souls of those who had been killed by the beasts and the only way to free the souls was to kill the beast or beasts who caused the person's demise. I sat up and lay my back on an old tree behind me,hugged my knees and closed my eyes. I was scared I didn't wanna be a lost soul I started crying.

"F*CK!"I heard someone curse and it was coming from the direction of the carriage "DADDY!" I cried out. 

  "Audrey? Honey stay right where you are." I did as i was told. "

Audrey sweetheart are you okay?" my mum asked.

"I'm scared." I replied.

"Don't worry honey,I'll come get you."

My dad's footsteps echoed as he walked towards me. As he got closer, the mist got thicker. I closed my eyes and the next thing I felt was the warm embrace of my dad, I felt safe. I looked up to see his face, but froze in fear as I saw the beast of the mist standing behind him. My dad noticed my expression then he turned around,but before he could react the beast flung him into the air, slamming him into a tree."DAD!" I screamed,but I couldn't go check if he was okay because the beast was in my way. "AUDREY!" my mum called out. I start crying as the beast started sniffing me then he roared as if I smelt repulsive. It turned towards my mother. I saw my father get up as he grunted in pain, he looked towards my mother an nodded. Before I knew it, my mom hoisted me up and started running as we left my dad behind to fight off the beast. I started crying again as I saw my dad use the last of his 'essence' to fight off the beast  my mum dropped me and used her gift to heal me so I could run as she held my hand we suddenly noticed that another beast started chasing us. We were half way out of the forest when the beast started to gain on us.  Before we could run out of the forest the beast jumped over us and blocked out path. Just as the beast was about to strike, for the first time in my life I saw my mum use her true powers as she mad the beast fly 10 yards away from us. When we were out of the forest my mum hugged me and kissed me on my forehead then she took off her amulet and put it in my hand then she said;"Audrey, I want you to wait here okay, mommy is just gonna go get daddy if we don't come out then run  straight to the empire to get help from Marqis Mavis he'll help you." She ran back into the forest to get dad. A few minutes later I saw some thing that looked like two different colored lights inter woven shoot up into the sky then I decided to run in the direction of the light only to find out that my parents where lying motionless in each others  arms motion less and the light was coming out from them as the beast roared and absorbed their "essence". Without their essence they won't be able to live! I didn't know what to do as I was weak and power less. I started to throw rocks at the beast then the beast started chasing me and I could not outrun the beast then I stumbled to the ground then the beast grabbed me and literally started sucking the life out of me I felt so weak I was already giving up when the amulet I was wearing started to glow. The light blinded the beast as he threw me to the ground, but I didn't fall, instead I started to float. I felt light headed and powerful like a huge burden had been lifted off me then I started to glow.Wait, is this how it felt to awaken I thought to myself, but I was just 8, I still had two more years. I felt amour build up on my body, but it wasn't heavy. I landed on the ground and picked up a stick I felt my power go to the stick as I ran towards the beast I didn't even know what I was doing I just started stabbing the monster repeatedly. It let out a roar as it fell to the ground and turned to dust freeing the lost souls.

I threw the stick to the ground and ran towards my parents. I shook them,but they didn't move. They were gone. I started crying as the amulet absorbed the last of their essence and transfered it into my body. I stood up and ran towards the empire to get help.
