8 Ch. 8 Scars

Spring is a beautiful season.

I saw the flowers blooming, and the garden finally grew back with a glow shining from the sun. I sat outside on the porch, holding my scared neck as I could still feel the pain from winter.

" I'm really starting to hate winter." I told myself, but I knew deep down I felt alive during those moments.

I almost died that night. Because of my injuries, I couldn't move much outside of the house in the cold.

And as I remembered that day, my hands moved upwards to the left side of my face to feel a scar from the wolves' claws. Luckily, I didn't lose an eye. It's wasn't a lot of scars, only two that didn't disappeared when healed.

I glanced at my forearm to see the large bite marks left behind. I could only sigh and blame my own stupidly for going after wolves on my own.

During my time healing, I couldn't train and focused on healing.

" Sigh. At least those wolves stopped destroying my farm." I muttered as I gazed at the cows in the distance eating grass.

The cows were expensive but a good investment.

' Cheese... milk and most importantly... ice cream...' I smiled at the thought of eating ice cream, I only ate it once when coming across a friendly cow farm in my past life. This family made all sorts of food from cows.

And I made a lot of profit from that, especially cheese, since it takes a few days to make them on my own even with a skill.

In the distance, I saw a carriage making its way scroll the field towards my house.

' I should make a paved road...' I thought as I saw Grisha driving the carriage next to my house as he observed the cows.

" You got cows?" He asked.

" I also goats and chickens in the back. That reminds me, I have goat milk and cow milk." I said, causing Grisha to raise an eyebrow as he turned to look at me.

Ince, he spotted my scars. Worry covered his face as he slapped forward and got a closer look.

" Wh–what happened!?" He asked.

" Sigh, wolves." I replied, not speaking any further as I stepped back inside the house.

" So, why'd you come by?" I asked as I put a crate on the table and started filling with glasses of milk, a block of cheese, and wrapped meat.

" Carla and Eren were wondering when you'll stop by, they gotten worried when you didn't visit during winter." He answered.

" It's winter, and I hate the cold." I replied.

" Was it because of your wounds?" He asked.

" Yes." I replied.

" Hm... I also need your help for the next few weeks. After winter, I need to check on a few patients for a check-up."

" Sure. I'll just need to drop this off with Carla, of course." I said as I carried the crate to Grisha's carriage who followed along.

***

" I gotta ask, but why cows? You can make cheese and milk with goats." Grisha asked.

" Cow dung. It's good for crops." I answered.

" Wouldn't goat also be enough?"

" I only have three goats. It's not enough, and besides, cow dung helps the grass plain."

" Is that why the grass here looks taller than the others?"

I nodded my head at his question and continued to write in my book.

Create a road pavement and cut the grass and use it... for something or save it for the cows...

***

" There we go." I smiled as I finished the road pavement. It took weeks to finish but I managed to finish it by myself.

And as I stood in the middle of the pavement, I saw a carriage once heading here once again.

" Grisha!!" I smiled and waved as he waved in return with a small smile.

" I must say, this is impressive." He said as I climbed and sat on his carriage as he drives to my house.

" Yes, how is it?" I asked.

" Smooth." He replied as he stopped infront of my house.

" Alright, I'll go wash up and get your guys crate for you." I said as I walked inside my house.

After cleaning myself and putting on new clothes, I got a crate full of food and drinks for the Yeagers as I put then into the carriage.

***

" Thank you Cain!!" Carla hugged me amd took the crate from my hands as she set them on the table before going through them.

" Ugh, I think I'm getting fat. Cain, can you stop sending us–ah!" Before Eren could continue his mother pulled his cheek.

" What the heck!!" Eren shouted.

The two of them began to bicker as I could only smile and retreat outside with Grisha who had a tactical understanding when we both looked at each other.

Ever since Eren mentioned of being in the scouts, his mother would argue with him which caused the two of them to bicker.

The two of us, went off to check on the patients that grisha needed helped with.

Hours passed as we helped many patients and returned back to the Yeager house to eat dinner.

" So, you gonna tell me what happened to your face?" Carla spoke up as I glanced at Grisha who ignored my plea.

I could only sigh and face her head on.

" Wolves..." I muttered but she managed to hear, in the next second I got my ears chewed out by her. And Eren watched from the side with glee along with Grisha.
