Ghost's POV

"Keegan enough." I said

Keegan kept running towards me with a knife so I sighed and side stepped and kicked his stomach but I guess I kicked too hard cause he fell back and tumbled about 8 feet.

"You have to stop rushing into things." I said

"Maybe you should kick a bit more gently." said Emily

"I know." I replied

Keegan groaned and got up.

"I'm not done yet." said Keegan

"If you want to fight, fight Emma." I said

Keegan groaned but nodded so Emma took my place. Keegan ran to her but Emily grabbed the wrist Keegan was holding the knife in and threw him over her shoulder and slammed him onto the ground.

"Keegan doesn't listen." said Emily

"I know but there's nothing I can do." I replied

"It's okay I'll handle the parenting." replied Emily

"But I want to as well." I sighed

"I know you do but for now, I'll teach him to respect you." she said

She grabbed my hand and I looked down and smiled a bit.

"You're always there for me." I sighed

Emily's eyes widened and I realized what I said and wiped the smile off my face.

"Anyways, thanks." I said

I patted her head but she grabbed my wrist and twisted it.

"I'm not a child." she growled

I geeked a bit on the inside but I just nodded and she just smiled and let go.

"Same as always." I said

"Is that a bad thing?" she asked

"No, that's why I love you in the first place." I replied

"I didn't think anyone would like me." she said

"We always talk about this." I said

"Yea it's a good recap." said Emily

"It is." I replied

"Is Keegan going to be okay?" asked Ellie

Emma jumped onto Keegan and started wrapping her body around and fell to the ground holding Keegan in an arm bar.

"Yield." said Emma

"No, I'll never yield to you." groaned Keegan

So Emma sat up and grabbed his arm in a different way where she holds the other half of her arm the same way you choke hold someone and it hurts a lot more even if you're not laying down. Keegan squirmed around in pain and Emma looked at me and I just sighed and signaled her to let go. Keegan sighed and got up and brushed off the dirt from his clothes and just left to go back to the house so we left and I sat on the bed with Emily.

"Remember that day?" she asked

"What day?" I asked

She hugged me and made me lay on the bed and she wrapped her leg and arms on my body.

"The day you confessed but I rejected." she said

"Ah, during the survival exam." I said

"Yea, you looked really hurt." she said

"What can I say, I was." I said

"So, cold." I shivered

"Shut up and keep walking." snapped Emily

"Okay okay." I replied

We were out in the wilderness for 2 days, covering 150 miles in the cold snowy winter forest.

"Shouldn't we rest?" I asked

"I'm trying to get first place." said Emily

"But we won't be able to get first place if we can't move." I said

She shined the flashlight at my face and glared at me.

"Keep moving, we'll rest once we cover another mile." said Emily

I nodded and continued walking through the knee deep snow in silence for about an hour until finally we hit a mile.

I collapsed onto the snow and shivered but Emily slapped the back of my head.

"If you're cold get some branches to make a damn fire you idiot." snapped Emily

I nodded and grabbed my axe and began chopping branches while Emily dug a hole in the snow where we can sit. I was busy chopping and gathering branches that I didn't notice that Emily was carrying a giant log for us to sit. I placed the branches in a pile and tried to make a fire, rubbing against one branch against another.

But Emily rolled her eyes and snatched the two branches out of my hands, grabbed a match, lit it then threw it onto the branches and it began to start.

"Sorry, I must have been a burden throughout this trip." I said

"Don't worry about it, I got used to it." she said

"Oh, I see." I replied

She sat next to me and began to warm up.

"So, what are you going to do after we graduate?" I asked, "Besides fighting cause that's an obvious answer."

"24th special tactics squadron." replied Emily

"Really? That's cool." I said

"It's nothing." replied Emily

Honestly I felt sad since after graduation we'll probably never see each other.

"You look sad." said Emily

I snapped back to reality and just shook my head.

"I'm not, it's just the-"

She glared at me and I kind of leaned back away in fear.

"Are you lying to me?" growled Emily

She began bawling her hands into a fist.

"Okay okay I'm lying I'm lying." I replied in fear

She relaxed and sighed.

"Why are you sad?" she asked

I didn't know how to respond, my cheeks were hot but thank god it's cold.

"I uhh, I'm sad cause we're separating." I replied

She scoffed and elbowed me gently.

"Don't worry about too much, just stay alive after graduation and maybe I'll come find you." she replied

"Well I thought we'll..." I trailed off

'Confess? Are you crazy? You'll get rejected so hard!'

"Thought we'll do what?" she asked

"Huh, well I thought we'll be fighting side by side." I said

"You wanted to join Navy SEALs, I don't want that." she replied

"Yes I understand." I said

'It's now or never.'

"I have a question." I said

"What?"

"Have you ever fallen in love with someone?" I asked

"Why does that concern you?" she asked

"Cause I just want to know." I replied

"Sometimes you need to mind your own business." she said

"But I asked cause I like-"

I stopped midway realizing I nearly said it but Emily looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

"You like me?" she asked

My entire face was hot and my heart was beating, I was sweating even in this cold.

"Answer my question." snapped Emily

"Yes, I do." I replied

Emily started laughing and I was a bit scared.

"You? You like me?" she asked

She started laughing again and now I was confused.

"You think I'll go out with someone like you?" she asked

My heart broke, it literally shattered into so many pieces.

"Get this in your head, I don't like you and I never will." she said as she slapped the back of my head

I looked down in sadness and just sighed.

"So this is why you wanted me to be your friend, now it makes sense." said Emily

"That's not-"

"Shut up, just get this in your head. There's no way in hell I'm ever going to go out with some trash like you." snapped Emily

This hurt a lot, more than getting beaten up by someone, it felt like I was stabbed in the heart.

"I can't believe you." said Emily

She got up and walked away leaving me crying in the snow.

Present day

"You told me why you left." I said

"I know, I went away cause I wanted to hide my feelings from showing." she replied

"But remember that day?" I asked

"The day after we came back." she whispered, "Yea."

19 years ago, a day after the confession

I sat against a tree looking at the river in front of me. I looked at my knife and gently patted the edge against my wrist.

'Is this really worth it?'

The rest of our journey was silent, she only talked to me for something but she would tell me to shut up every time I tried to talk to her.

I began feeling depressed and I felt like I was drowning in water, like I was going to die. I started feeling dizzy and something stung a bit.

But then someone slapped my face and I snapped back and focused, when I looked up I saw Emily standing over me with my knife in one of her hands. She looked really pissed, her eyes filled with rage but when I looked at my knife I noticed blood on the blade. I gasped and looked down at my wrist and noticed a deep cut on it.

"You little brat." growled Emily

"I-I didn't know-"

She kneed my face so hard I blacked out for a few seconds and fell onto my side.

"Are you trying to guilt trip me?" asked Emily

"No I wasn't trying to, I didn't even realize I hurt myself." I pleaded

Emily scoffed and tossed my knife to the side.

"How are you going to explain that cut?" asked Emily

"I-I-I don't know." I replied

She sighed and began helping my wound.

"It's not too deep, it won't kill you." she said

"Emily I'm sorry I didn't-"

She slapped me, shutting me up and glared at me.

"Don't you dare do that ever again, just because I don't love you doesn't mean I don't give a shit about you." she said

I nodded and just watched as she wrapped my wrist with a bandage.

"Killing yourself is fucking useless." she said

I nodded in response and Emily finished up and looked at me.

"I get that you're sad, but I don't have any feelings for you." she said

"I know, no need to remind me." I replied

She sighed and got up.

"Let's get back to our dorms." she said

"Right." I said

Present day

I just kissed Emily as she kissed me back.

"I wish we could do it right now." she whispered to herself

"You're horny?" I asked

Emily's cheeks turned red, realizing what she said.

"Stop it, there's kids especially Ellie." she said

I smiled and just hugged her but then someone knocked on our door.

"Dad I think there's something on the news that you might want to see." said Emma

"We'll save it for later." I said

Emily smiled and nodded as I got up and followed Emma down the stairs.

"What's going on?" I asked

She turned on the TV and switched to the news and my eyes widened when I saw a part of a building, burning with Jean near it.

"There was a bomb strapped onto the Eldian's Chief of Staff, Theo Zachary." said Emma

"Zachary..." I whispered

"His body was blown up, Uncle Connie showed up and explained that the type of bomb was also used by the IMT during some of their raids." said Keegan

Emily came down and she looked worried, Ellie just looked a bit scared as she hugged the couch cushion.

"I'm going to contact Annie, then Riku." said Emily

I nodded and turned off the tv but then I got a call.

"Colt?" I answered

"Sir, we're in deep shit. The US wants the titan serum as well but we're not cooperating with the IMT. But we're launching an assault on a IMT camp with the Scouts, this could lead to a full scale war." said Colt

"We don't have a choice, if a full scale war does start then we're going to have to fight for the US." I replied, "I would suggest hunting down whoever gave the order to take the serum."

"Already on that, we'll kill that bastard." replied Colt

"Got it." I said

"We're leaving now sir." said Colt

"Good luck." I said

"You know I don't believe in luck." replied Colt

"It's a habit. Just be careful." I said

"I know sir." said Colt

He ended the call and Emily looked worried while on call with Annie.

"Apparently Eren said something to Jean that made him furious." said Emily

We went upstairs and put the phone and speaker.

"What did Eren say?" asked Emily

"According to Jean, he said that he might have turned his back on me." whispered Annie, "I don't know if I'm supposed to believe that or not."

I thought about it but nothing came to my mind.

"I'm sure Eren said it out of frustration." said Emily

"I don't think he did." replied Annie

'Maybe he didn't, maybe he did but for what?'

"I have to go, I'll reach out to you later." said Annie

She ended the call and I sighed.

"Call Javelin, I want her following Eren." I said

"That's risky for her." implied Emily

"She'll be able to handle it." I said
