Chapter 8

As soon as I stepped out onto the plaza, I saw two guards guarding the entrance of the mansion I just exited. Startled by my sudden appearance, they quickly readied their swords and ran after me. I ignored them and continued to run across the plaza towards the prison. The guards quickly fell to the ground after a few air bullets from my bird friend.

A few soldiers that played cards on crates in the center of the plaza quickly jumped to their feet and grabbed their swords, but I was faster.

'One, two, three,... four soldiers. This should be a peace of cake with the help of the raven.'

With a small twitch of my hand, I levitated the sword from the hands of one soldier and pulled it to me.

I grinned and caught the flying sword with renewed energy. 'Hehe, I'm getting better at this.'

The swordsman that just lost his weapon stared incredously at his empty hands, but had no time to look up. His stunned head flew off with a quick slash, courtesy of the bird. Meanwhile, I reached the group of three that quickly surrounded me, and three blades rapidly approached my upper body, but just as they were about to cleave me into fine slices, the swords clashed against an invisible wind wall, conjured by the raven.

With a grin, I hit back, piercing through the gut of one soldier, blood spattered on my face. "Hahaha, this is fun!"

My grin grew bigger with each hit that I landed on my enemies. The feeling of my sword cleaving through the flesh was exhilarating, my eyes slightly unfocused, and soon, three mutilated corpses surrounded me.

Slightly panting, my eyes crazily darted around the plaza, looking for more enemies.

Seeing no other enemies, I rushed to the prison where the villagers were held captive without looking back, not conscious of the white strand in my hair dimly glowing like a luminescent crystal, and the raven looking at me with a worried look.

My excitement grew stronger when I reached the entry. I smashed the door open and proudly announced my arrival.

"Beware, for I have arrived! Today, everyone shall perish by my blade! Be honored, you will be punished for your acts by the great Lowen Rower!"

...

The Aureans stared at the intruder that just interrupted their drink time. They saw a teenager with messy black hair and a slightly glowing strand. He wore a smug grin and his clothes were drenched in blood.

"What the hell.. who the f*ck is that?" One Aurean exclaimed, a bottle still in his hands.

"Wait isn't that the guy with powers that Sia found?"

The slightly drunk men quickly recognized the boy they escorted to their leader a while ago and realized what happenned.

"Did that guy escape? Shit, he regained his powers! Quick, kill him!"

But Lowen continued to grin and lifted his hand, exerting a pulling force on the knees of the nearest guard, making him fall forward, directly into the sword that pierced him.

"One down, two more to go~" Announced a happy Lowen.

The guards concentrated immediately, as this was really serious. This kid was dangerous, and if they wanted to get out alive, they had to stall and wait for reinforcements.

With a quick glance to his partner, one of them took out his horn from his belt and lifted it to his mouth.

"Oh no, I won't let you call your friends. Sorry, but I will have to confiscate your little toy~"

Lowen happily snapped his fingers and stole the horn from the soldier, that desperately tried to snatch the horn back.

"Hmm, this does remember me of a certain scene... Anyway, thanks for the horn. Let's continue, shall we?"

...

With furrowed brows, I concentrated on the sword in the Aurean's hands. 'Controlling the horn was rather easy, but I'm still having difficulties controlling heavier things. A massive steel sword like this is completely different than the light pebbles I am used to.'

The soldier noticed my pulling and resisted, holding his blade firmly in his hands.

"Beware, he's trying to control my sword! Let's kill him fast, his powers aren't fully developed as he is still young. We still have a chance to win."

The other Aurean nodded with a determined look."Let's show this damn barbarian what a true Aurean is like. He will understand the might of a knight from the Qaoldt household!"

The excitement grew again in my heart, the adrenaline causing my eyes to slightly unfocus again, as if I started to go blind. I felt the power rush through my veins, and I felt fitter, stronger.

I effortlessly took control of the sword in the Aureans hands, as if it was a small pebble lying on the river shore, but I didn't care about that. The only thing of importance right now was to kill those two and move on, to kill more of these damn Aureans. With a twitch of my finger, the sword pierced through the gut of its owner.

...

The raven was sitting on a chair near the three humans. He could kill those two swordhumans in the blink of an eye, but he was way too mesmerized by what was happening with Lowen. 'So this is the inheritance of the Whites. It has been so long since I last saw it.' With nostalgia in its golden eyes, the raven thought back to its younger years, when it explored this exciting world with its former master.

But its reminiscing moment was cut short when Lowen killed the two poor swordhumans. The raven sighed.

'The Humans are a pitiful race. They kill each other for every small disagreement. Even those that have nothing to do with other people's quarrels get involved. This leads to young kids to do horrible things like this.'

The boy in front of the raven turned around and grinned at the bird.

"Let's continue, raven!"

The bird jumped on Lowen's shoulder and cawed, "I have a name you know."

As they advanced in the hallway, Lowen looked at it in surprise. "Do birds have names? I didn't know that."

The raven pecked at his ear, and replied with a reproaching tone.

"I am not a normal bird, you should have understood it now! My friend gave me a name. You can call me Windorn."

Lowen looked at the bird with interested eyes. "I would love to know who you actually are and why you are helping me, but I think we should first free my friends and flee the village, before the full army arrives."

"Right, let's move fast. I'm sensing that the leader just escaped my whirlwind. While you save your friends, I will stall the blonde human." Windorn replied and and flew out to the central square.

...

After the departure of Windorn, I quickly continued in the corridor, and easily found the stairs to the basement. One soldier that probably heard the commotion, was climbing up the stairs to check what happened upstairs.

His face stopped in confusion when he saw me, and his body fell down the stairs with a sword in his gut.

Happy like never before, I passed the bloody corpse after retrieving my sword and continued my search for the prisoners. I didn't have to search for long, as I heard loud chattering and laughing from a nearby room.

Busting the door open, I saw four Aureans staring at me with drunk eyes, each one a beer in hand. Their eyes widened when they saw my bloody sword and immediately sobered up when they heard my voice.

"Hello everyone, I will kill you."
