47 Advancing Artefact Creation

I looked at the pill placed on the table. This was the new thing I have been working on.

The issue with pills related to blood is that they are dangerous.

So, consuming a recently made and untested pill which concerns one's blood is not recommended.

Hell, consuming any untested pill is not recommended. Most of the time, I just tank it over, as the effects can't be that bad.

This was until I started adding simple raw power to the pill.

Now, it was dangerous to just simply eat them.

'And I don't want to wait either.'

'Hoh? I wonder…'

I checked my Profound Arts list.

[Basic Artefact Creation] (4/10) {31.71%}

The Artefact Creation went up considerably after I made the Trials and the Seven Floors Pagoda. It's kinda hard to level up, as it only counts after I create an artefact.

So big ass Trials made it go up by two levels like this thing is broken fundamentally.

'Should I make some small-scale artefacts to level it up?'

For a second, I hummed to myself as I called forth my cultivation, creating a small rectangular box from barrier walls.

Then I proceeded to inscribe a text on the barrier wall.

The plan is to figure out what the pill does. The only clue I have is the same method I use to influence someone's mind.

You send a pulse of Profound energy and get one back from the source.

It's based on the Sonar.

However all this is great, but there is an issue. How to understand what the pill is sending back?

This is the most difficult task. Much more difficult than making illusions create your most beloved person and making it try to kill you.

That stuff is preprogrammed in the very array.

This, however, is more difficult.

'Wait! I could just create a basic system!'

With this realisation, I created more walls and started to write on those.

The idea is quite simple, the Profound energy reader who will receive the pill will understand it at the most basic level.

'Like a pill's potency from 1 to 10 and then, the pill's effect is either positive or negative!'

With ideas in mind, I proceeded to make more and more walls.

Until I realised, this was too big.

'If I continue, then the pill reader will be the size of a room.'

I stroked my chin, thinking for a bit. Then I remembered my Talent Orb.

That one was quite easy as it has pre-set options, and it just reacts to specific potency given away by your Profound energy.

'This would be like a computer….'

As I thought about it, I pulled out the gift box, which had a set of Profound Cores.

'I still have 3 [Emperor Profound] Cores.'

I took one out and proceeded to refine the chaotic Profound Energies inside of it.

It took a while, but with my [Sixth of Emperor Profound] cultivation, it was much easier the last time I played with [Tyrant Profound] Core.

With the core's Profound Energy stabilised, I can start making it into a computer-ish core. To do that, I need to compress the room-size array into a hand-size Profound Core.

'Sounds easy enough.'

So, I started with Profound Runes carving. The first objective is the environment. The Core inside has to be altered, so the first set of runes, like a belt, forces the Profound Energy to compress and form into an even harder shell.

This made the interior hollow but at the same time, extremely potent for any sort of Profound Energy use.

Next was to repurpose my already-used absorption and projection Arrays.

With a burst of light, the room was empty, and inside the core, I could see glowing arrays.

'This is pretty. Like those miniature Christmas houses inside an orb.'

I inspected it closely. I could see that arrays were glowing even brighter than before.

'This is most likely because of how potent the interior is with Profound energy.'

After transferring arrays into the Profound Core, I started part three.

The interaction from inside the core to the outside world, in the form of some sort of linkage, like a bridge which sends in and out information, something like a variant of a cable?

'Sounds about right.'

So I started with a couple of Arrays on both sides of the Core. They will interact with the array which scans the pill. The information will be processed in the core, and then it will be sent to the display array.

The display array is based on the Soul projection array. Instead of projecting people, it will project numbers and letters.

A couple of hours later, I had a prototype ready.

It was a small box with translucent walls; there was a socket created to place the core, which he placed the very next moment.

The moment the core was in the socket, the box glowed, and a circular scanner array manifested.

'Nice, this looks futuristic and so out of place.'

With a chuckle, he dropped the Profound Energy Sensitivity pill on the scanner.

A projection appeared in front of him. It shows what kind of pill this is.

"...Yeah…working in progress."

I removed the pill and took out the core from the socket; the arrays on these solidified barrier walls stopped flowing. Seconds later, the whole thing simply fell apart and dissolved.

'Yep, I need something more solid.'

'What's with that guy?'

Xing Tong sneaked around, trying to see what Xiao Long was doing.

The guy was on a different level! Arrays, Formations, Runes!

Whatever he has been doing makes the whole warehouse lit up like a massive bonfire!

"What are you doing?"

The redhead stiffed as she slowly turned around. She saw a black-haired girl with a high ponytail.

This was her fellow Battle Maid.

"This…what is he doing!?"

"No idea. It's not up to us to know that." She said with a shrug before becoming serious.

"You should return to your cultivation."

"Hmm? It's fine. This Princess is [Seventh of Sovereign Profound]. This realm is perfect for my physical growth. If I get any stronger, my growth will slow down."

Honestly, this was a blessing in disguise for the Star God. When she inherited Slaughter God's legacy, her cultivation spiked to the late [Divine Master] realm in the process, halting her physical growth.

Now that she was a Mortal, she could grow up!

"I see. How did you reach such a high level of cultivation at such a young age?"

"Legacy. Anyway—"

"If you want to say something, then just come in."

The pair stiffened as they realised that they were caught!

'It wasn't me! My stealth is impeccable!'

Xing Tong knew she was invisible to other people's senses, but her eyes went to her fellow battle maid.

Her cultivation was like a beacon of light in pitch darkness!

"Let's go."

The redhead mumbled something to herself as she followed the maid into the warehouse.

"Young Master. I apologise for sneaking around. But I found her doing it."

"Hmm, it's fine." He nodded at her before looking at Star God.

"Any particular reason for your stealth?"

The girl crossed her arms and looked away.

"This Princess is at a loss what you are doing. It's a simple curiosity." She said with a sigh. This feels weird. She is from a Royal Star realm. Her legacy holds memories of past Slaughter Gods and even the original Slaughter God. But this is just weird.

"Oh. A curious cat. You do know there is a saying that curiosity has killed the cat?"

"...This Princess is not a cat!"

"Says who?"

*Growl*

"Calm yourself, or I will be inclined to tease you more." He said with a small smirk.

The redhead sighed before deciding to play along.

"Yes-Yes. I am a cat. Now happy?"

"Yes. I will get you some cat ears later. Anyway, what I am doing is making a pill reader."

"...Pill—"

"-Reader?"

The pair were confused. Like what does 'Reader' even stand for?

"It's an Artefact that can tell you what a pill does." As he said that, he showed a hand size marble. Inside, it was full of arrays, circular and in other shapes. It was like a miniature ecosystem of some sort.

It was glowing brightly, and from time to time, she could see runes lighting up and diminishing in the glow.

"...Wow…so pretty."

To Xing Tong's voice, the fellow battle maid slowly nodded.

Only seconds later did the Slaughter God realise that she acted like a small child, so she swiftly adjusted to her Princess persona.

"Yes, however, this is not finished. I need a platform which can display the results. This is just the medium."

"I see. Young Master, it's getting late, and you should return to the manor. Lady Xiao is waiting for you."

"Hmm? Is it already late?"

As he said that, he looked through the window. It was pitch black.

"Oh. Yeah, I guess so."

The Blonde Goddess was dazed as she had just finished reading a Profound Scroll.

This was one of the scrolls written by Xiao Long. It describes the Profound Energy control skill.

Just reading through this once made her soul be pulled out and forced to relive how to control Profound Energy.

It was enlightening!

When she got herself together, the scroll had already sealed itself up, and she needed to return it.

She can only read it once, and it costs 10 thousand contribution points.

As she walked back to the Quartermaster and handed over the scroll, the man looked slightly confused.

"I am curious. You are one of Young Master's maids, aren't you?"

"Yes?"

"Then why are you wasting your Contribution Points for something he has spares of in his house?"

"..."

The blonde was out of her word. What can she say? She doesn't know?

'This is embarrassing…'

"I see. My thanks for telling me."

The blonde swiftly left the Contribution Hall and reappeared right in front of the Young Master's Manor.

She then walked inside and found one of the Phoenix maids cleaning.

"Excuse me."

"Hmm?"

"Does Young Master have any of those Profound scrolls?"

The question made the maid think for a bit.

"Yes. It was quite something several months ago, when he first started this. The scrolls are in his room. Though you won't enter it easily as Lady Xiao lives there as well."

'Of course, she is. That woman is hoarding him for herself even though he has a harem.'

The blonde didn't even bother, as she would do the same.

"I see. My thanks."

"You're welcome. You should try to seduce him if you want to get any of those scrolls. It took a while, but we all were able to read them, eventually." The maid said with a smirk.

"...Indeed. I am curious. You don't want to have him to yourself?"

The blonde doesn't care, but she cares about getting information. So the best way is to show 'care' for another being.

"Right. You are new. So you don't know. Young Master developed a potent dual cultivation art over his stay in Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace.

He alone can take on the entire household."

Qianye Ying'er eyes widened for a second before she became sceptical.

Though, as her senses wash over the maid, she can sense some traces of Fire and Water in harmony. It's not as potent or that visible as with Young Master, but she can sense it.

"I see. Still hard to believe he can do all that."

"Hehehe. Trust me on that. We tried MANY times, even all ten of us tried to gang on him. You must realise that Young Master has developed pills which he only used on himself over the years."

'Now this explains it!'

"...And his wife? Lady Xiao? Can she keep up?"

The maid smirked for a bit before looking around.

"Miss Ying'er, this household has politics in the background. But to answer your question. No, she can't."

This made the Blond slowly nod. Ah, yes, Politics, nothing new here.

Thankfully they haven't reached the point where they start killing each other in the background.

Young Master is still compassionate on that side, which will be annoying for her to deal with.

Her plan would have been to show her competence and usefulness. Once that is done, she would remove anyone in her path.

But this Young Master is a collector at heart. He gathers women with talents, looks, and backgrounds. This makes her difficult to work with.

"I see. And Would you be interested in getting some cultivation materials? Maybe some information about what is beyond the boundaries of this world?" Qianye Ying'er smoothly asked her. Seeing that the maid is opportunistic as these ten Phoenix Maids were a gift from the Divine Phoenix Empire.

"Depends on what you want in return?"

"Such a thing should be obvious? Is it not?" The blonde didn't say anything specific, as she didn't want to expose herself, so she allowed the maid to think for herself.

"...Sorry, but we desire something else."

*Tsk*

'I can't believe I am struggling to gain allies! How can a mortal Star Realm have people with bore backbone than the Realm of Gods!'

For a moment, she thought about it, but then she remembered the purifying soul pills and the Phoenix trails which these females passed.

Once again, she clicked her tongue and decided to switch her tactics.

The only one she can rely on here is herself.

'Plus, that little brat will get in my way. What to do?'

The blonde retreated to think about this!

Thankfully for the Brahma Monarch Goddess, she is part of the rotation. As a maid, she has her days off and days when she has to work.

'Can't believe I have to do this. Take a deep breath Ying'er. You will only grow stronger from this!'

Qianye Ying'er looked at the broom, which she snapped in half.

"So from Average Goddess, you are turning into a Useless Goddess."

A familiar voice from behind said to her.

"I don't want to hear things from a Beggar child—sooo much for a Crown Princess from a Royal Realm. You are bringing shame to a fellow Royal Realms."

"W-What do you know!? All your so-called 'wealth' are just gifts from brain-dead men!"

"Wealth is Wealth."

"Whatever you say, I am not the one who keeps on breaking tools."

The Crimson haired girl swiftly left.

'The moment she can't get stabby with me, she runs away like a dog with her tail between her legs.'

The blonde snorted to herself, but then she felt a gaze on her.

She slowly turned around and saw the Head Maid looking at her.

'Well, here we go again….'

"I thought after reading the profound scroll on Profound Energy Manipulation, your control over your strength will increase." Xiao Lingxi said with a raised eyebrow.

"...It did."

"Then I guess I will have to alter your rotations for tomorrow. You can keep on practising how to sweep."

The blonde's eyes widened as some urgency appeared on her ethereal face

"W-Wait! Tomorrow I am supposed to be assigned to Young Master!"

With the number of maids he had, this was a rare opportunity for her!

"Indeed, and I don't want a maid who can't do a maid's duty anywhere near Young Master! Imagine, you flop in front of him! The amount of embarrassment I will feel!"

The blonde grimaced hard! How dare she! She is the Brahma Monarch Goddess! Half of the Realm Kings of the entire Southern Divine Region went with her to hunt for that brat!

And now she is here! Can't even do basic maid duties!

"Reduce the points! For the broom, I will repay it! Just don't change the schedule!

"If I fail, I will cripple myself! Do we agree on this!?"

Xiao Lingxi's eyebrow went up. Is she willing to cripple herself just to spend a day with the Young Master?

"...Very well. I hope you keep your promises." The Head Maid looked at her seriously before proceeding to walk away.

"I do."

"We shall see."

Sure enough, the day has arrived when Qianye Ying'er is the maid who will attend to her Young Master for the whole day.

She thought that this would be her time, but weirdly enough, not many maids don't truly like this duty, strangely.

Don't they want to dual cultivate with him? Don't they want to get pills for free or improve their foundations in some way?

Though she quickly found out why!

There is nothing to do! She is just standing there and waiting for anything!

So.

She decided to just watch what he was doing.

This was the second time she was in his warehouse. It has changed.

There were weirdly looking artefacts of some sort.

He placed some sort of glowing orb on a pedestal, and a bunch of walls got projected. They all had texts.

"What is this?"

"Curious?"

"!!!"

"Y-Yes." For a second, she got caught red-handed. She was supposed not to distract him!

"These are 'command tablets', as I call them. Each of these have commands for Profound Energy."

He made a few of them float over towards her.

"Just by sending a small burst of uncontrolled Profound Energy—" A wave of energy moved, but it changed directions the moment it went close to one of these command tablets!

"-The Tablets will take control."

"...I see, but what is the use for this?" While it looks fun, what is the purpose?

"To recognise what is the use of the unknown pill."

"?"

"Imagine you find a pill like it is nothing as you have seen before. How are you going to figure out what it does? And yet you only have one of those.

My new Artefact will tell you what it does. This way, I won't be risking myself or my Sect members' lives."

"Useful enough."

"Hehehe, I can feel how you partially lost interest. You are someone who doesn't care about other lives. But you are short sighted if you thought that this is just it.

"This artefact is just the opening move. Once I perfect the system, then it's game over in the most literal sense."
