Chapter 39: To The Bone

Griffin's POV

When Jack woke up, he really didn't look any better than before. If anything, he was worse. His eyes were bloodshot, and he had a terrible, wracking cough. I told him to say put, which I realized was ridiculous the moment I said it, and ransacked his kitchen cabinets for anything that looked like it might help. I found some tea that looked relatively new, and a can of chicken soup that appeared to be somewhat promising. I put a kettle of water on the stove to boil, dumped the soup in a can, and heated it up.

"I appreciate your kindness, Griffin, but really, you don't have to do all that," Jack said, and shuffled into the kitchen, despite the fact that I had expressly told him not to. "I don't have long, you know."
