5 Final Preparations

The first time he saw the screen, he felt disgusted and nauseous. It was too random and messy, which made him search for an editing option, which he did find. He segregated everything and added a little bit of text just for the sake of it.

After everything was done, he re-read it.

He had bought and scanned the things that he read online while in the store and didn't understand why some of the items were useful. Accessing his memories was a time-consuming yet painful process and he didn't want to waste his precious time doing that when he could just browse things faster.

His cab had arrived and he got in as he checked the red screen at the corner of his vision again which showed the remaining time left.

'Fifty-seven Minutes huh... Should be possible but the outcome is still unpredictable.'

The driver didn't talk at all and simply followed the instructions on his maps to take Larcen to his destination which was an all-purpose weapons store that stocked up on firearms, blunt weapons, and blades too. They also had an array of defensive equipment such as armors and helmets.

The drive took almost 15 minutes and Larcen simply gave the man a 500 dollar note and left, leaving him stupefied and extremely grateful.

Larcen walked into the store and looked around before deciding on Machetes, Axes, body armor, and helmets.

He walked over to the counter with all the machetes and Axes he could find in the store which amounted to 24 Machetes and 11 Axes. He left those at the counter and walked back to the place where he found knives that were of a higher quality compared to the ones he bought in the convenience store.

Before he could pick more of them though, the owner walked over to him and placed his arm on his shoulder before glaring at him.

"Kid, these are premium products and each of them cost above a hundred dollars. I really hope you aren't playing a prank here."

"Oh....", Lauren said softly before adding, "Don't worry, I do plan on buying these and I do have enough money to do so."

"I really hope you do.", the man said and walked back to the counter.

There was only one shopping cart in the store and that was at the counter with his machetes and Axes. He could only rely on multiple trips from the Knife shelf to the counter to get them all.

"I would like to buy some body armor and helmets too.", he said as he looked at the wall behind the man. Guns, armor, and helmets were kept on display there. He didn't ask for a firearm as he knew that he needed a license for that.

"You need a license for helmets and armor. You can get it along with your firearm license but not without it. I reckon you don't have it yet."

"Um... yes, I don't... I didn't know you needed a license for armor."

"Blame the government, kid. Should I bill these now?"

Larcen nodded and took out his phone to pay him online. He entered the required details and waited for the owner to give him the bill.

"24 Machetes, 3,580 dollars. 11 Axes, 1,960 dollars. 127 Knives.... 21,590 dollars. A grand total of 27,130 dollars."

Larcen simply entered the amount on his phone and made the payment before asking, "Why are the knives so costly?"

"Well, knives these days are mostly catered for hobbyists so many companies hike the prices while giving out decent upgrades compared to the other knives. Don't get me wrong, the normal knives are great too but people nowadays prefer uniqueness and buy things like dumb idiots.... me included."

Larcen couldn't help but smile when he heard the last words. He nodded and thanked him before getting all of the items packed into a cardboard box and taped. He couldn't lift it but with the help of the owner, he got it into the cart.

"You can leave the cart outside after you transfer the box into your vehicle. I'll collect it in a few hours."

"Thanks again."

"My pleasure, kid."

After giving out his farewell, he pushed the cart outside and checked if anyone was seeing before sending the box into his inventory, expecting to find a loophole but things didn't go as he had expected.

The machetes, axes, and knives occupied separate slots instead of going inside as a single box. This made things look more clean but he still was a little dejected about his plan not working.

'Oh well, I have a feeling that I should be able to increase the number of slots in the future but let's see how it goes.... I still have another slot in my inventory... should I just leave it as it is or should I fill that up too?

Hmm... I guess I'll leave it empty. I can think of situations where it could prove to be useful.'
