Subsequent Fall Part 71: Restoration
"Zane! We need to fall back, it's too much!" Sal looked over the frontline as all the soldiers were approaching fast. Their armor still resisting their weapons as Pete sat behind cover reloading his sniper. Slowing down due to his wound.
"Airsoft, I get Zeta is powerful, but he can't handle the abuse forever!" Hawaii looked around the ground as they were trying to shatter Zeta's legs.
"We need just a couple more moments! Jaimie will help our front once the city is cleared." Airsoft pointed his magnum down from atop Zeta and opened fire.
"Achilles wake up!" Alice shouted as he opened his eyes, all he saw when he opened them was an explosion of colors as a booming sound was heard. All the communication channels started asking what happened, many of the vehicles were held in a state of paralysis due to the energy that flew by.
"ALL FORCES ARE GONE, I REPEAT, ALL FORCES HAVE BEEN KILLED OR JUST VANISHED!" Astrid looked at all the alerts. "If you are able bodied, help find the wounded and deceased and get them in medical loading zones. Medical ships are en route. All starships, form a blockade around the planet."
"Shall I tell them the bad news?" Shiro looked at the vital's on the three of them.
"No, Merle, pilot us to the planet to make the trip faster." Astrid looked over to the table as all three AI's from them were also gone. "Shiro, help me with the direction of the medical ships, we have a long time to go. Wait, I feel this weird feeling, like those three aren't quite gone."
Someone entered the bridge as Astrid looked at them and saw Adam's mask. "You aren't him but bear the mask? Why?" Astrid raised her sword as the man wearing the mask dropped to the floor.
"I was sent by Adam himself, and Astral, I am their contingency plan, let me help with the directing of ships if I can." He kept his head low as Astrid set the blade on his shoulder.
"I will be the one fully in charge. But we do need the help. Direct ships from the outer layer of the city to what bays are open next to the medical facility. Merle, once you are done moving. Find Alexa, Kayla and Murphy." Astrid walked over to her pod as she started to type on air.
Achilles saw the explosion as he stood up. "We lost." Alice was shocked to hear him speak like that as he walked into the city.
"Where are you going?" Alice asked as many of the Polemistis army were going forward into the front line and helping stabilize the wounded.
"Into the city. If we lost then someone has to make sure it is safe." Achilles walked forward as the veil dropped around the city. 'Is it safe?' He kept walking forward regardless of the danger possible as Alice followed him. "I would prefer it if you didn't follow me for your safety."
"But I am doing it for yours." Alice stayed close as the two walked down the street. They knew how strong the combatants were based off of how many buildings were leveled.
Proto laid down on the ground with a thud as Alex looked down at him. "If you don't get up I will make you get up."
"Lady I feel like my shoulder is made of jelly from those light rounds. I don't want to hear it." He spoke as Omaha put a steel pillar over his legs gently.
"Timmy, they could use your analytics for the medical evacuations, get to the closest communication station." Omaha pointed at him as he climbed down from the rubble as Alex jumped down from the front.
"Now what happens, I mean, those colors are still paralyzed across the sky." Alex pointed up as they were still stained all across the solar system.
"That means we rebuild." Proto tried to wiggle free as he looked over at Adam's creation. "Figuring out how to make those is step one." Proto popped one leg free as Omaha gently lifted the beam up as Proto stood up.
"Hey Proto, I have a question." Airsoft looked across the battlefield as he saw a lot of dead bodies, but none of them were theirs.
"What is it boss?" Proto heard a level of concern in his voice.
"Where are our killed in action?" Airsoft looked out as his helmet zoomed in and out and spotted nothing. Omaha and Alex looked at each other once they heard the question. "I have one here on this front."
Proto was too stunned to speak. "Airsoft, we have the same problem on my side." Zane groaned as he spoke due to his wounds being serious still. "Sal is looking all over our bulge we made in the fight and nothing. All of the dead are gone."
"What?" Achilles chimed in as he was as shocked to hear this as the others. Stumbling across something that pulled his attention away.
"All fronts, report any and all names to a registry that are not present, wounded and accounted for." Airsoft gave the command as Zeta shrunk down to normal mech size. "Zeta, can you do that and process it?" the mech gave a thumbs up.
The longs started to come in from every able bodied person as they reported in. Filling out the reports as most of the wounded were stabilized. All of the forces flooded in as Merle returned to the bridge. "Astrid, are you reading that report?" Merle asked her as she nodded.
"I found them." Astrid twisted around instantly.
"You, in charge of this, if he does anything Shiro, let me know and I will kill him." Astrid stood at the door as Merle directed her down the hallway.
The ships started to come down as several landed all around the city on the outskirts and next to the zones that were marked on the ground. Indy got Minn, Wash and Nevada on the first flight out as the medical staff took them away. "Wait, Achilles, head to this point. I am too busy and Jaimie said it was important."
He was already there however.
