06 | Embrasse Moi

Ten minutes after our run in with Natalia; Tayor, Chris, Damion and I walk towards the front entrance of the school. I step ahead to open the large, heavy wooden doors; doors that I had struggled to open as a five-year old when I started attending the school. An SUV sits in the front drive, a petite girl with flaming red hair and the greenest eyes I have ever seen leans against its' side. She smiles politely though it doesn't reach her eyes when we get closer.

"Tay, Chris, Damion, nice to see you three again."

Damion nods in greeting before rounding the back of the car and popping the boot. He throws in my duffel bag as well as my suit case before closing it again. Two relatively well muscled men come around from behind the car. They watch us, their expression barely changing. I do however notice that they watch me with sceptical expressions. They are there to protect the team from me, not that they would do any good. After a quick glance I look back at Damion, watching as he talks quietly to Chris, his eyebrows raised. After a moment I realise that I had stared at him, completely blocking out the others. When I finally turn my attention back to the others I catch the tail end of the conversation.

"Êtes-vous sûr?" (Are you sure?)

"Oui" (Yes)

"Alors on lui fait juste confiance, juste comme ça"? (So we just trust her, just like that.)

"Nous n'avons pas exactement le choix." (We don't exactly have a choice.)

"On a toujours le choix, Tayor." (We always have a choice, Tayor)

"Le réalisateur lui fait confiance, donc nous n'avons vraiment pas le choix." (The director trusts her, so we really have no choice.)

The new growls under her breath before snapping her head towards me, her eyes narrowing. I smile sweetly, trying to look as innocent as possible while listening in to their conversation. She turns back to Tayor, her eyes pinched.

"S'il te plait dis-moi qu'elle ne connaît pas le français." (Please tell me she doesn't know french)

"Je ne sais pas" (I don't know)

They both turn to look at me this time, Chris interrupting his conversation with Damion to watch us. They all stand staring at me, my innocent façade still on my face. Damion is the first to make a movement. He walks towards me, a smirk on his face.

"Embrasse moi" (Kiss me)

I look at him in shock, taking a step back. He laughs, a laugh with out humour, a cold laugh that sends shivers up my spine, though I don't know why.

"Je te défie" (I dare you)

With a growl I try to push the challenge out of my mind, the last thing I wanted to do was kiss Damion but the challenge was infuriating. My mind whirls as I try to get out of it. Eventually a plan pops into my head. I smirk at him, taking a step forward.

"Très bien alors." (Very well then)

They all look at me shocked, Damion's smirk now long gone. Tayor and the other girl burst out laughing. The muscled men crack small grins, money trades from muscle 1 to muscle 2. Chris looks like he just ate a lemon. Damion doesn't look any better. He obviously didn't expect me to agree. Without a thought I walk towards him, my eyebrows raised in a taunt. A part of me knows that half the school is probably looking out the classroom watching. They had also all heard the taunt and my reply. Many of the more immature teenage boys wolf whistle, some of the girls laugh.

When I reach Damion I put a hand on his shoulders so that I could push myself up to his height. My healed boots doing nothing to help my height. Holding his shoulder for balance I grin before leaning in, I don't even bother to close my eyes, I wanted to see his expression. Within seconds our face are so close that I can see the silver specs in his deep purple eyes, mesmerizing me for a second. Without a second thought I lean closer and give him a quick peck on the cheek before taking a step back, a satisfied smirk on my face.

"Holy Shit! Elle n'a pas fait ça?" (Holy shit! She did not just do that)

My smirk widens as they all stare at me, most with their mouths hanging open. One by one I walk over and close their mouths for them, walking up to Damion last.

"Didn't think I'd do, it did you?"

He rolls his eyes as he crosses his arms over his chest.

"No, I just didn't think you were game enough to do it properly."

This time I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my stomach, scoffing quietly to myself.

"I did what you said."

"No you didn't, that was a peck, not a kiss, I dared you to give me a kiss"

"Oh well, too bad then."

I turn around and walk over to the girl with red hair.

"Yeah, I wouldn't trust me either, but I am kind of stuck with you all"

It is at this time that the muscles actually start paying attention to me, rather than blowing me off, believing that I couldn't do any harm, or maybe they had finally started counting the knives that I had brought with me. Either way they were starting to become more wary. I hold out my hand towards to girl, everyone stiffening around me.

"I'm Sam, short for Samantha, but only my immediate family and grandfather are allowed to call me that."

The girl puts her hand in mine and we delicately shake hands. Delicately because she can feel the small stiletto knife that was sitting in the palm of my hand.

"Lexie, short for Lexima, and isn't your family like, you know..."

"Dead?"

"Yeah?"

"No."

They all blink rapidly, mostly in shock, though some; Tayor, Damion and Chris; look away in embarrassment. Lexie however does not seem fazed as she casually stands there with her hands on her hips.

"Oh, well I just thought, with you attending a school for orphans, that, you know, you are an orphan."

I nod my head, feeling the overwhelming desire to punch her face, maybe even break her nose so that it could never look the same again. Old anger resurfaces, anger that I had not felt in years, anger that I struggle to push down. It must show on my face as the two muscles still standing by the car stiffen and prepare to take a step forward. I inhale slowly, trying to mask my anger. Eventually I am calm enough to produce an innocent smile.

"Yeah, no. My parents are still alive."

Lexie seems to accept it and turns around, walking to the car before sliding into one of the middle seats. The muscles follow behind, getting into the two back seats in the boot. Chris and Tayor, after a last look towards me slide into the middle seat, Chris sitting between Lexie and Tayor. I take it as an incentive to round the front of the car. I am about to open the front passenger door when Damion calls my name. I turn around and raise my eyebrow at him.

"Where are your parents?"

I frown, my eyes narrowing. He had obviously not gotten the memo that the conversation was over. I don't bother answering, instead I open the door and slide into the seat. Damion slides into the driver's seat and starts the engine before relaxing into his seat and crossing his arms over his chest.

"Are you going to answer me?"

In a blur of movement I have my knife out and thrown before anyone can see it. When they do see it they all cry out in shock. The knife is buried up to the hilt in the driver's headrest, centimetres from the back of Damion's head. He just sighs and retrieves the knife, handing it back to me.

"I will take that as a no."

I nod my head in satisfaction, thankful that he finally got the message, I then turn my head to look out the window a he finally drives us down the drive of the school, out the gates and onto the highway. Here we go, DC here I come.
