Life 9: The Crouching Tigers and The Hidden Dragons

"So then, just what are you gonna do after school? Any ideas- anything you want to do."

Hearing that from Lan Lan- Adam shook his head as he said- "Honestly I have no idea- and with Uncle Alvin's help I can live without working a single day-"

Hearing this she smiled as she placed a hand on his shoulder smugly saying - "Haven't you ever wanted something else in life- a little more adrenaline and action- no?"

After this Lan Lan stood in front of Adam as she said- "You've changed you don't put up with any humiliation- you no longer cower in front of others and you're more extroverted, the old you before couldn't even hold a conversation-

But you're different now- I feel like this is the beginning of a new life for you or more like that injury was a second chance- so what now- you gonna squander it, Adam?"

Saying that Lan Lan- caused him to stop moving as he listened to her- there was something about her that caused him to listen she had this enchanting aura around her that seemed to only ensnare him-

It wasn't malicious but instead, he could feel a kindness within her words and he had no idea what to say-

"So what should I do then Lan-Lan?"

As he said this Lan-Lan leaned forwards as the girl with blue hair gave him a wholesome smile that only he could see-

"You ever heard of the 'Crouching Tigers?"

"No-"

Now serious Lan Lan- looked at him and said-

"You ever hear of the fairytales of immortals roaming the skies and demons the ground able to kill with a single breath- and able to flatten mountains with a flick of a finger."

This caught Adam's interest as he thought- 'So there are Zhen Qi Masters here- could it be that they have some sore of an organisation in this world?"

"Yes- I have my father used to tell me these stories as a child- but these people must have passed away a long time ago."

Hearing that she nodded as she said- "Those people still exist and in fact, my uncle was a young prodigy and was close to reaching those levels until he failed due to the onslaught of heart demons he had within his soul and his power-

He's still alive but he's lost his powers other than being above the average human in strength."

Hearing this he felt some sort of force take over him as he grabbed her giving her a tight hug-

This story brought up some of his childhood memories of his parents and the pain he bottled up with losing them-

And for a while no one said anything as the two were in a tight hug- it seems a silent consolation was for the better-

As he slowly moved off and broke the hug-

And in a way to cover her blushes she tried talking a little bit more as she said- "Well hopefully Uncle can help our Rou family gain even more powerhouses with his experiences."

"So is the 'Crouching Tigers' a group the Rou family created?"

Asked Adam as he looked at her closely- "No this organisation is one created by the worlds greatest nations in terms of economic success- and through these nations, this organisation was created.

This organisation was created to combat otherworldly threats as well as rogue superhumans who have decided to utilise their powers for evil.

And so every big family or group within these nations send in their most gifted youngsters to train and grow the family or group.

And with your movements and sturdy body you can join especially that aura you unleashed when you walked past Shen Fei.

But the question now is- will you join the 'Crouching Tigers'?

"*Sigh- well fine..."

-2 Days Later In the Dead Of Night:-

With his confirmation to accept the two had planned to meet up together in two days at the dead of night- with Adam now sporting some gym clothes and with Lan Lan in the same attire as him- the two began their journey to head to this organisations headquarters.

As the two began to run through the city as inhuman speeds Lan Lan took lead as she began to leap off of bridges and the sides of walls as she ran as if the city was the back of her hand- and once we reached an empty-looking building the doors opened with a laser scanning Lan Lan's hand-

And then the door opened as we headed straight towards the only thing that looked useable an elevator.

"So this whole building is actually in use?"

Saying that he turned to Lan Lan- who began typing in some sort of code within the elevator- "yes this whole building is in use and the outside is a mere disguise."

And as she said that immediately the Elevator- dropped straight down as he grabbed the railings with such a force that it felt like the two were going to get squished-

But they didn't and the elevator opened up- as a lot of people were doing their work- Lan Lan dragged me through them all to someplace within this floor-

- Crouching Tiger Base:-

Finally, after walking a while we reached a room with a wooden floor that looked very glossy as a man with bronze skin meditated but with our presence he looked up as his eyes glowed blue immediately.

"What is it- Lan Lan- what are you here for-?"

Looking straight at the man Adam steadies his gaze as he could see the flow of Zhen Qi slowly radiating from him- his energy was blue but it seemed only practitioners could see such colours.

And he was strong but not at the level Lan Lan's Uncle was at- using what she described he was a rank below that level.

Breaking the silence- Lan Lan spoke- "Uncle Fang- this is the genius I talked to you about- two days ago!"

Said she with a little excitement in her voice-

Looking straight at her he said- "Stop messing with me Lan Lan- he's too old to begin training-"

But with her incessant no's he finally walked over to Adam and with this step, he began to feel that unique aura that appeared when Adam broke his engagement with Shen Fei-

"This aura- I can tell that you've never done any intensive work in your life yet your body is filled with Zhen Qi- you were right Lan Lan- Uncle was wrong this boy is indeed a genius."

"Since you've come with Lan Lan it means you have accepted to join and this means that you will have to take a little initiation test- remember now 'Crouching Tiger' will be something difficult to remove yourself from so get ready for your new job Adam Li!"

"My Name- you?"

Hearing that the man called Uncle Fang laughed a little as he said- "Little Lan told me about you- don't worry I didn't read your mind."

Smiling a little Uncle Fang took out a book from a cupboard behind him- "Here this is the first technique you will have to master- a breathing technique if you will as a foundation and once you've mastered the technique the book will burn signifying you've learnt it.

Now go with Lan Lan- to do the test-"

And as he patted Adam's back with a smile the two left as in the room only Uncle Fang remained as he began to laugh in the empty room-

"Hahhahahahahah"

"It seems that my branch is ready for another powerhouse- Little Lan did well!"
