48 Monstrous Showdown

WHAAAAAAM!!!

Our fists collided with our faces; I punched the side of Marth's jaw, and he struck the side of my head.

Crink!

I could feel my scales breaking off from the force of his attack and the same also went for Marth; his teeth had broken off from my attack and I might have deformed his jaw as well.

I quickly pulled my fist and aimed for his abdomen. Marth on the other hand must've thought the same because at the same time we struck each other in the stomach.

I didn't feel any pain from any of his attacks, but he definitely must've felt mine.

I'd hit him again and he'd return the attack. I swung my fist again and he also did the same. I struck his face, he'd strike another part of my body. When I struck the side of his chest, he'd also strike another part of my body.

Eventually, I could feel the ground rumbling as we clashed. I could feel my scales breaking off every time he punches but it would instantly mend. Whenever I struck him, he'd seem to feel the pain but then shrug it off a second later.

We didn't even use mana or vigor, it was just straight-up heavy punches. We kept going with no sign of stopping. It's just a contest to see who can break the opponent's body first.

As Marth and I clashed, I inhaled the air around me and I felt a burning sensation in my mouth. Then shooting out was a beam of purple flames that instantly blasted Marth in the face, burning a part of his head.

"ROOOAAARRR!!!"

Marth roared in pain and stumbling back. I took this chance and barraged him with high-velocity punches. I could hear a bone shatter every time I struck him.

When he fell onto his knees, I would lift my leg up in the air and charge up mana on the end of my heel. I didn't even need to wait because it just immediately glowed.

Then I slammed it on the top of Marth's head, slamming him into the ground.

Bwak!

BOOOOM!!!

Marth laid there like a broken corpse. After waiting for him to get up, nothing happened. But I knew he was faking it.

I slowly stepped back. When I was far enough, I prepared a round of Scarlet Bullets. That's when he got up.

The burn on his face, his fractured skeleton, his deformed jaw, they all healed in a matter of seconds.

Hmm, looks like even his healing factor is better than before. It's either the effect of the moon or his regular healing rate.

Marth glared at me and growled. I did the same as I wasn't going to let my guard down.

Then he walked over to his sword and picked it up.

So he's using the sword huh? Well then, I guess I'll do the same.

I walked over to my Katana and picked it up. I faced Marth and beckoned him.

He dashed towards me and swung his sword. I quickly blocked and countered back with an overhead slash.

Marth flew back but caught himself, then he rushed towards me again.

He swung his blade and I managed to parry back. Even though I just blocked, he would continue to swing and he wasn't going to stop until I was tired. I could already feel my strength leaving my body since this form takes up so much stamina.

When I was about to lose my footing, I quickly stepped back and used Sable Chains.

Black Chains rose from the ground and attempted to catch Marth. However, Marth quickly realized and jumped into the air. But he must've thought I was going to trap him with Sable Chains when I was actually baiting him.

I quickly appeared above him and plunged towards him with a cleaving slash.

Clang!

I hit the ground first and looked up to see where Marth had gone. He had vanished and I immediately got on my guard.

Snap!

I turned and Marth was coming towards me while being dragged by his sword. I quickly dashed to the side and I did the same, thrusting my Katana forward.

Shink!

My blade stabbed the side of Marth's chest and he roared in pain. I'd jab it deeper and blood shot out.

Marth turned towards me and swung his sword. I swiftly rose my left hand and managed to catch it. But when he applied more pressure, his sword suddenly cut through and split my left arm in two.

This time it was my time to yell in pain.

"GRAAAAAAAAAGH!!!"

An explosion erupted around me, blasting Marth away and engulfing the ground with purple flames.

Marth fell into the lake but managed to hold on. When he got up, he walked towards me with his sword over his head. Then he flew towards me, quickly swinging his sword.

I performed an uppercut slash, deflecting Marth's overhead strike. After that, I thrusted my blade towards Marth but he caught it.

He took my right forearm and began throwing me around but with my legs, I trapped him in an armlock and we both fell onto the flame enveloped ground. Since I was the one that launched this attack, it barely affected me. It was also probably the effects of my scales.

Marth on the other hand was getting burned alive. The flames slowly began to burn his body and I could hear the sizzling and the smell coming from his body.

But surprisingly, he didn't shout in pain or anything. When I looked into his eyes, it was slowly glowing.

I looked at my left arm and it finished regenerating. I began to prepare a Tyrannical Fist until I was suddenly lifted up.

RIP!

Marth had bit my left leg and tore it off. Then he continued to do the same with my left arm. But he shouldn't have done that because I had prepared a Tyrannical Fist and he just bit it off.

In a few seconds, his entire head began to glow, and then an explosion erupted. I covered myself from getting splattered with blood with my wings and when I turned around, Marth was down on the ground, headless.

After I regenerated, I quickly got out of my form as I was running out of strength. I looked forward at Marth and sweat came down the side of my head.

Crap, did he really just die from that? I didn't really expect that to happen but... shit.

But suddenly, his body rose up and slowly, his head began to reform again.

I backed away in terror. What the fuck? He just had his head blown off, how the hell did he just grow back another one?!

When Marth finished healing, he got out of his Lycan form and turned towards me.

"Did I scare you? You probably thought I was dead," he said in a tone as if nothing happened.

"The fuck? You just got decapitated, how the hell are you still alive?!"

"Hmph, I think I forgot to mention."

He'd point up at the moon again.

"That moon... also allows every Lycan to become immortal until it disappears. So, I think you can figure it out now."

Motherfucker! I don't know if he's just smart or just lucky cause he just seems to always get out of tough situations.

I grabbed a potion from my shadow storage and consumed it. I got on my feet and took deep breaths.

"So... you wanna continue now?" I asked. Marth looked at me and smirked.

"But of course! You think I healed just to talk?"

"That was the exact answer I was looking for."

We both hunch over and got into our stances. Marth slowly transformed into his Lycan form while I went full-spirito.

But in the process, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my heart and I fell onto my knees.

D-damn it, it hurts!

The pain would grow and there was no sign of it stopping or calming down.

My vision blurred and I felt as if my consciousness was about to leave my body. My voice even became different. It wasn't human. It was more monster-like.

I would've probably lost myself if I hadn't seen Aurelia's amulet.

I took deep breaths and slowly got up.

This pain... it only seems to happen after I use the form.

Even though the price is high, I'll have to bear with it.

The pain gradually began to fade away and I stood. I consumed another potion and I felt a sense of invincibility fill my body.

I began to concentrate mana and then transformed.

No matter how many times I strike him, he just keeps getting up. Stubborn piece of shit. If he's gonna do it, then I'll do the same.

I pointed my Katana at Marth and he got ready.

With one hand, I lifted it over my head and flew forward.

"GRROOOAAAAA-!!!"

Marth also rushed forward.

"GRAAAAAAAAA-!!!"

At that moment when our blades clashed, a bright light flashed in front of us.

SHATTER!
