CHAPTER 1: DAUGHTER OF THE NIGHT

The sun is setting as darkness slowly creeps up and covers the sky. A slow rhythmic rain melodically drips on top of the buildings and cobblestone roads in the city of Aizdihar. Hidden in the shadow casts between buildings, a young girl dressed in a dark coloured hooded jacket with a thin satin fabric covering her face carefully creeps into the stone-tilted street as her eyes glances around the vicinity. Making sure that there is no one around, she carefully steps into the brighter part of the street before eventually creeping into another part of the shadow in another alley between the buildings. She eventually stops in a dark alley a few meters in front of a tightly guarded three story building. Two guards carrying a steel sword were stationed right in front of a door, under a giant sign written as "Eden's Garden: Museum of odd curiosities". A smile faintly painted on the girl's satin-covered face.

"This will be easy." She whispered to herself.

She carefully danced around the darkness, making sure that her figure stayed in the darkness and did not step or catch on any lights that were present. The rain helped her tremendously by extinguishing some of the uncovered torches and lanterns in the street. Looking closely, this girl's skin is a dark gray color, as if the dark night sky is painted on her body. Her satin covered face is glistening with golden freckles as if the stars leave their marks on her face and her golden yellow eyes are as bright as the moon, making a beautiful addition to her elegant visage.

Instead of going to her target building, she took a few turns in the alley and headed to a red brick tiny house located next to the museum. From the window, no visible light from candles was present, as if giving her confirmation that nobody was in the house. Of course she knew that, ever since she heard that there will be a special presentation of a jet black diamond in this museum, she devoted her entire weeks to survey this area, mapping out every way in and escape route from the museum. She even took notes on the behavior of the residence in this area.

Taking a deep breath, focusing her mind and purpose once more, Her hands traced the wall of the house until she found a big enough crevice for her fingers to grip. Focusing her power on her fingertips and toe, she uses them as leverage while she jumps to reach the roof with her other hand. Crouching on her new location at the top of the house. The young girl's eyes scans her target building. Guards seem to be swarming the building. From what she can see on the windows, she counts that there are at least eight other guards stationed inside. Her eyes stopped when she saw a dark room from one of the windows on the third floor. She grinned, adjusted her hood, and took a step back when all of a sudden, her vision shifted as she appeared in a dark maintenance room that she saw from the window.

Carefully turning the doorknob, she emerges on a well lit hallway of the museum. She slowly took her steps while focusing her ears and eyes. The empty hallway of the museum stretches further in front of her without any sign of anyone's presence. The sight of empty buildings and hallways always seems to be so magical for her as it always brings her peace. She loves silence. It's not that she hates people, but she always prefers silence due to how different she looks to normal people.

After taking a few turns, she reaches in front of a beautifully designed double door. She tries to give a twist to the door handle.

Locked

"Well, this much should be expected." She muttered while taking out her lockpick. After a few seconds trying, she heard a faint click inside the lock mechanism and the door in front of her started to give in. She gave it a gentle push and without any creaking sound, the door was open.

Stepping into the room, she only saw a jet black diamond displayed on a platform behind thick glasses. Her eyes glistened as she hurried toward the platform. She touched the thick glass surrounding the gem when suddenly, a bright flash from the diamond hit her eyes. Her eyes hurt from the blinding light in front of her and her vision went blurry white. Before she had time to take any other action, she felt a sudden shock jolting her body and the bright flash on her eyes turned into pitch black darkness as her consciousness fades away.
