The Celadon gym was burning and there was nothing any of the trainers could do about it. Ash had come back to visit the Erika to both apologize for his actions earlier in the year as well as request the paperwork for his Elite Four battles. He was shocked when Brock informed him that Erika was the one in charge of the Gym Leader's Commission. Erika's only request was a rematch. All of that went completely forgotten as Ash was currently looking throughout the building for Erika's Gloom, as it had been lost during the battle with Team Rocket.

"Why do I always have to be the nice guy?" Ash said to himself as he rummaged through a collapsed wall. He then heard small cries of pain from underneath the left side of the debris. He noticed part of Gloom's flower sticking out and realized he had to lift the rubble. "Don't worry Gloom, wait one minute, I'll get you out of here." he assured the scared grass type. Gloom could only whimper in response. Ash reached down and tried to lift the rubble but it only budged slightly. "I'll never get Gloom out of here at this rate." he thought, searching for another way to raise the debris. It was then he spied a crowbar in the corner, "perfect" he shouted. Ash grabbed the tool and wedged it underneath the debris just enough to get some leverage. He then slowly put his weight on the bar, which caused the rubble to lift just enough for Gloom to crawl out from underneath. Gloom was not in the best of shape but was just healthy enough to see that Ash was trying to help it and began to tone down the scent it had before. Ash fought through the urge to vomit as he picked up the injured Pokémon and started to run back towards where he came from. Ash had to dodge falling beams from the ceiling as he slowly made his way back towards the entrance but what he didn't know was that there was another danger to worry about.

Outside of the Gym

Erika was looking over the Pokemon that were rescued from the inferno and noticed that Gloom was not amongst them. Misty told her that Ash had gone inside to look for Gloom as he had noticed Erika was busy looking after all of the others. "What a selfless boy" she thought, "putting the needs of others before his own". The young lady realized that she had definitely misjudged the young man. Just because he did not like the smell of perfume didn't mean that he was a bad person. She had received multiple reports from the other gym leaders in the region, detailing what Ash had done for them. Besides, Brock and Misty wouldn't be friends with him if they didn't think he was a good person.

As Erika was daydreaming a scent came over her nose, which struck fear into her heart. "Misty, Brock we need to get Ash out of there now" she ordered.

"Well yeah, we were just about to head in a look for him." Brock responded rather dismissively, more focused on making sure all of the Pokemon had been recovered.

Erika shook that off as the situation became direr. "No you don't understand, I just caught a whiff of gasoline, which means…" Erika was cut off as the burning gym imploded from the inside.

Back With Ash

Ash had the panicked Gloom back under his control and calm, but not before it used some sort of spore attack on him. However, the spores appeared to do nothing so Ash shrugged it off and continued onward. Suddenly he caught a whiff of gasoline and knew he was in trouble. He made a beeline for the exit and was within 20 feet of it before he heard an explosion and fell into unconsciousness.

Outside

It all happened so fast, there was a giant explosion and Ash's body fell in front of Erika and his two friends. "Oh dear Arceus" yelled Erika as Gloom popped out of Ash's firm grip next to him. "We need to get him to the hospital and fast." a panicking Erika ordered her friends to call an ambulance.

It was clear that Ash was not in good shape, he had burns all over his back and arms from protecting Gloom's body from the dangerous flames. Misty tried to use her water Pokémon to heal parts of the burns, but it was of no help and she was only making it worse. The ambulance pulled up and wheeled Ash inside on a gurney, they allowed Erika to ride along with Pikachu since it was partly her responsibility for the accident, while Misty and Brock would have to walk to the hospital. Ash was wheeled into the emergency room where he underwent a 4-hour surgery to save his life.

Erika was in the waiting room, a nervous wreck. "This is all my fault. If I hadn't been so stubborn about getting my revenge , none of this would have happened." she thought with her head in her hands. It was at this point that Brock and Misty walked in and noticed Erika in her depressive state.

"Erika you shouldn't beat yourself up over this. Ash would have done this for anyone's pokemon, that's just who he is." Misty explained. The Cerulean gym leader went to reveal how he rode his bike through a thunderstorm in order to deliver medicine to a sick Shellder.

"That does sound like something he would do" the laughed the grass-type trainer.

After a few seconds of silence Erika asked Misty if she loved him. Brock spit out the water he was currently drinking while Misty just chuckled. "No it's nothing like that. We just see each other as siblings". It was at that moment that the door opened and the doctor came out.

"How is he doctor?" Erika asked, worry evident in her voice.

"He will survive, but it will be a long road of recovery." the doctor began. "He had 2nd and 3rd degree burns all along his back, chest, and arms. They would have been much worse if your gloom hadn't used spore to relax his muscles." the doctor revealed.

"How long will his recovery take?" asked Brock.

"Around two months if everything goes well." the Doctor answered, "You are allowed to visit him now if you want". The doctor then revealed his room number and left the three of them alone.

"Brock what is Ash going to do about his Elite Four challenges? Do you think that they will wait for him to heal?" Misty asked aloud.

"They better or else I'm resigning from my post?" Erika growled out.

Making their way through the hospital, the three gym leaders finally got to visit Ash in his room. He was currently asleep but the three of them pulled up chairs and sat next to the Pallet Town native. Ash's torso and arms were completely covered in bandages as he was propped up on the bed in obvious pain. After around 45 minutes, the young man finally opened his eyes. "What happened?" he asked, trying to get up from the bed only to be pushed down by Brock.

"The gym exploded from a gas leak" the Rock-type trainer explained, easing hi friend back upright.

"You've been put through the ringer." began Misty, who then explained his injuries.

"I'm so sorry this happened to you Ash." Erika apologized softly to him before bowing in front of the trainer's bed.

"Erika don't blame yourself for this, it was a freak accident and I saw a Pokemon in danger. I couldn't just let your Gloom die" Ash grunted out. After several moments Misty told him that Erika was going to write a letter to the Pokemon League, telling them of his situation and putting his Elite Four challenge on hold until he recovers.

"Not only that but I would like to make it up to you by helping you rehabilitate." Erika stated with confidence.

"How are you going to do that? asked Ash, grunting in pain.

"Perfume is not the only thing we make at the gym." Erika revealed "We also make healing creams for things such as burns.". Ash's eyes widened at this and understood where she was going. He accepted her offer and then nodded off as the pain from his injuries wore him out.

"I'll take his Pokemon to the center." spoke Misty, grabbing the balls off the table.

Erika nodded and offered to the let the two trainers stay at her house for the time being. They both thanked her but Brock offered to stay the night at the hospital in order to make sure Ash wouldn't accidentally hurt himself in his sleep. Erika then left with Misty to go to the Pokemon Center. On the way she called one of her friends and told them to start preparing a lot of burn cream. She could only hope that this would be enough for Ash to forgive her for the pain she's caused him.

2 Months Later

Over the course of the last two months Ash and Erika had gotten rather close. Erika had visited Ash every day to administer the healing cream to his burns. The cream was doing miracles for him and prevented his body from scarring. Pikachu and Gloom were getting along great as well. Ash's mom eventually got word of what had happened to her son and spent several weeks in Celadon where she assisted Erika in the healing. Erika's friends had noticed how comfortable she was around Ash and began teasing her about it until she finally did something about it. Brock and Misty had even made small teasing shots at her as well. They both knew that Erika would be a good influence on Ash and him on her. It was Ash's final day of treatment before he could get back to training for his Elite Four challenge, so he headed to the greenhouse next to what was the gym, in order to receive the cream.

"Erika are you here" he called out as Pikachu went away to play with Gloom.

"Yes Ash I'm over here." she called from the corner, beckoning him over. Ash gasped at her attire, Erika was wearing a green kimono with an opening at the top, which left little to the imagination as a large amount of cleavage was shown.

"Um, I'm here to get the final batch of cream." he gulped, being a little embarrassed of the situation. "Ash don't be so shy, we've known each other for over two months, longer if you include our initial interaction." Erika responded, as they were now face to face.

"Yes but you are dressed too…" he was cut off as Erika leaned in and kissed him right on the lips. The kiss was broken as Erika backed off leaving a stunned Ash standing there.

"What was that about my choice of clothing." she asked sweetly.

Ash had no response to this as instinct took over. He pulled her in to a much more passionate kiss as their mouths met. This continued for several minutes until the pair had to break apart, leaving the two trainers gasping for breath.

"Wow that was…incredible." Ash breathed out as Erika took him by the hand.

"Yes it was. Now lets give you some cream." she ordered. Before Ash could comprehend what was happening he was shoved down to the ground on his back, as Erika took his shirt off. The boy's back had already full healed, so there was no danger in this activity. "Let's do this session au natural." she ordered as she removed his shoes, socks, and pants leaving him in only his boxers. Ash unconsciously complied as he removed her kimono leaving the grass leader naked to his eyes.

"I'm glad you think so, no other man has ever seen me like this." she responded, as she removed the bottle of cream from her bag.

Erika began to rub the cream up and down Ash's arms, making sure not to irritate the new skin. Ash breathed softly as the cream went to work, making sure the new skin did not crack and bleed. However, the champion was so impressed by Ash that he offered him Agatha's position in the Elite Four. The elderly woman was retiring and Lance felt that Ash would be the perfect replacement.

His mother had moved to Celadon to help Erika with the greenhouse, as she was always good with her garden at home. Although she was first disappointed that Ash got the girl pregnant, she took it back after seeing how Ash really loved Erika. Ash was broken out of his stupor as Erika walked up and asked what he was doing.

"Just reminiscing about how great it was to meet with you" Ash responded, kissing her on the lips. Both of them relaxed with their daughter as they watched the sun set over Celadon. The future looked bright for the Ketchum family and their child.
