2 RENEWING A PAST PROPOSAL

AURORA ENTERPRISES.

Everyone wished me a good morning , when they saw me and continued their work. I walked past them to the elevator and stood before my private elevator and pressed the open button. I walked in when the door opened and hit number 6.The door of the elevator closed and I trodded through the hallway and turned to my left, to my office.

The Brown Mahogany door opened wide when I pushed it letting me access the vast office area with a big table on the end with the open windows, the couch on the right next to a small kitchen counter.

A cozy little table for the personal secretary on the left has always been a prick in the eye for those who coveted my father's role, his chair behind the big table, he owned most of the shares, he is the founder of this corporation, yet someone managed to do this to him. Just for the chair. I wonder what's in the chair.

Isn't it the hard work, effort, ideas, brilliance, teamwork and implementation of these things together makes an empire? How could a chair be made the top thing in an achievement? People are insane, I laughed at their foolishness.

I exasperated and walked to that chair and settled on it. I hoped I could hand over the responsibility to my father soon, once he recovers. I waited for a decade, so it won't be a thing to wait more, I thought. But there are conspiracies to take me down from the position, so I have to be cautious and ruthless to handle them. I can't be weak now. I should tackle everything effortlessly.

My thoughts were derailed by the ringing sound of my intercom. I answered it.

"Ms. Ash …..He's here to visit you! " said the receptionist.

'' He…..Who?''

'Your....ummm….Mr. Noah is here!'

"Why is he...Ah...Let him in !''I hid the shock in my voice.

After a while, Noah came in through the wide door and walked up to my table.

'Miss Ash, Nice meeting you after a long time!' he grinned and sat opposite.

"Mr.Noah, What a pleasure and I wonder what's your purpose here?"

'As it was arranged before, as promised by your father, I've come to fulfill it, renew our relationship,' with a poker face.

"If I may ask, why are you here for the same arrangement  that has been promised years ago, which you denied later when my father  was attacked?" My eyes fired up.

'You were so young Ms. Ash. You were not the type I wanted. But after seeing your growth  for about 10 years, I think you're the right person for me. I propose marriage to you. Let's make your father's wish a reality'

"Sorry Noah, you're not my type, "I leaned before resting my palms on the table and raised up, turned to the open windows.

"If you have nothing to say, you may leave!" my tone clearly shows irritation.

'Woah, a fierce Ash, I like that, I'll give you a week's time to think over, see you later he walked out confidently.

"What's he up to?" I turned around to look at him. 

His sudden appearance and the confidence he had, stirred up that emotion I disliked.

I took the receiver from the intercom and pressed the no.2.

"Mr. Roy…..Find about the recent activities of Noah, CEO of Ember & co, and report to me in an hour or two! "

'But ....Miss…..'

"It's an emergency and I want you in my office in two hours…..Do you get that Mr. Roy?", my voice spitting fire.

'Yes' he hung up with a low tone.

I searched on the internet on my desktop about Noah's recent scoop. 

"He has achieved a lot over the years and he was nowhere to be found in a decade. His sudden appearance is fishy and frightening. I should be ready for whatever he throws at me, any kind of challenge or a situation. What could he be planning especially with the proposal of our marriage?'' I pondered.
