1 Chapter 1 : Transmigration

"Haaa!!"

I woke up, lying on a luxurious gold coloured bed in the middle of a fancy, but unfamiliar room.

As such, I stood up from the bed, my heart thumping hard as I looked around the fancy room. It was spacious and stunning, filled with fancy things everywhere, like a huge bed and items coated with gold all over.

"W-Where am I...?"

I took a deep breath and tried to make sense of it all. The room felt like it was fit for a king or queen, or maybe even a prince, but why was I here? It felt like I had stepped into a fairy tale or something.

It was especially the door that caught my attention the most. It was huge and made of dark oak wood, with fancy designs carved into it.

"This… Isn't this essentially a room for the royalties in those fantasy worlds?!"

This kind of rooms only exists in novels, not real life. Yet here I stood in the midst of it all, trying to unravel the mystery.

Was I dreaming? I pinched myself, feeling the sting of it. Nope, definitely not dreaming. This was real, and I had no idea how I ended up here.

As I pondered, the large door to my room crashed open. Someone had thrown it open with considerable force, as if they were in a hurry.

"Prince! Are you alright? Who were you speaking to?"

"Wait, what? Who are you...? And what do you mean prince...?" I asked, confused by his words.

I wasn't a prince, but just a 20 years old college student. So why was he calling me that?

"Prince, did you hurt your head? Should I summon a healer? Stay here. I'll go fetch a healer immediately."

He dashed out of my room as soon as he finished speaking.

"Huh? What? No, wait. I don't need a-"

Before I could utter out another word, a different man entered the room and cut me off.

"My lord. You are Prince Emrys Lorendale of the Dale Kingdom."

That man wore the same attire as the first, a long coat, a stylish vest, and a tie with a ribbon. Except that this man seemed slightly older than the other.

He also possessed a pair of sinister-looking red eyes along with black hair, instead of the other man's brown hair and yellow eyes.

"Wait... Lorendale...? Prince Emrys...? And the Dale Kingdom...?"

Those words felt familiar, but I couldn't recall why. I sat back down on the soft bed, and delved into my memories.

"Yes, my lord. You're the youngest prince of the Dale Kingdom," he calmly replied to my inadvertently spoken inner thoughts.

"Oh..! I remember now!" I exclaimed, recalling the scenario from my beloved novel, The Murim Returnee.

"What? My lord. Are you okay? Did you hurt your head?" He spoke without a hint of emotion, his expression unchanging.

This man who stood before me, was Winston, one of my personal butlers. At first glance, he might seemed like just another servant, assigned to attend to my needs.

Yet, there was an air of mystery about him, a sense that there was more to him than met the eye, something that lurked beneath the surface, beyond the grasp of anyone's wildest imagination.

"Nothing, Winston. I'm fine."

"..Okay. My lord," he said as he stared at me suspiciously.

"Now, please leave my room. Don't bother me today. I'm quite tired." I said, signalling him to leave my room.

"And clean the training equipments too. It's quite dirty." I distracted him away from the topic.

"..Yes. My lord," he replied, with a puzzled tone, slowly making his way out of my room through the enormous door.

With his departure, silence reclaimed my room.

I still couldn't believe my eyes. The scene unfolding before me was beyond comprehension—an impossible scenario playing out in reality.

"I'm... transmigrated into a fantasy novel...? I think that sounds more like a fantasy novel itself…"

So, to summarise, I'm now Emrys Lorendale, the youngest prince of Dale. In the novel, it is said that Prince Emrys will die a few years later, in the Battle of Crowns.

Despite the inevitability of my own death, I found myself enveloped in an unexpected sense of happiness rather than the anticipated fear of death.

"Tsk, no way. I'll never die here."

In my previous life, I was a genius science student, excelling in computer science, my true passion. However, I was forced by my parents to pursue a career in medicine due to my talents.

Furthermore, I possessed a photographic memory, making me superior to others in terms of studies. I was always alone, isolated, akin to a trained and emotionless machine.

I guess the reason for my newfound happiness was likely caused by the freedom to make my own decisions.

"Well, I'll have to survive and create a peaceful world first."

I didn't think it would be hard, considering the wealth of knowledge I possessed compared to everyone else in this world. I was determined to survive and lead my new and exciting life in this world.

Bang!

Once again, a loud crashing sound echoed through my room as the door to my room swung open. This time, the other butler, Wallace entered my room, along with another man dressed in a beautiful red robe.

"Prince!! I brought the healer!"Wallace pointed to the man in the red robe. "Let him do a check-up for you, just in case you're hurt anywhere!"

"Eh? What? No. I don't need it. Get out. Leave me alone."

I gestured for them to leave the room. I was suspicious of the man in the robe, unsure of his identity despite my knowledge of the novel and the future.

"Prince... Are you sure...?"

Wallace seemed to be genuinely concerned. It was a characteristic of his in the novel. An innocent and kind-hearted man.

"Yes. Of course. Now, please get out."

I attempted to convey annoyance, mirroring the behavior of the original prince, who was known for his irritability.

"Okay..."

Wallace exited the room with the healer, his demeanor reflecting a mix of concern and uncertainty.

As they were leaving, the healer shot me a suspicious glance, intensifying my distrust. He was stronger than Winston, who was a genius of his generation. Someone of his strength should have been mentioned in the novel, even once.

"Who the hell is he...?" I pondered, trying to recall the novel's details from my memories, eager to uncover the identity of this incredibly strong man.

Just as the door was closing, I stopped it and pushed it slightly open.

"Wallace, where's the library? I want to visit that place." I said from behind the door.

"What…? Prince, you… want to visit the library?"Wallace showed a confused tone in his words.

Emrys wasn't a guy who liked reading, so he never had a reason to visit the library. As a result, he had never once stepped foot into the library before.

"Yeah. Where is it?"

"…It's at the East side of the castle." He said hesitantly.

"Yeah, thanks, Wallace. You can go now."

I closed the door as soon as I finished. I wanted to avoid any further questioning and avoid raising suspicions. Those unnecessary questions would only lead to more troubles for the future.

Afterwards, I took a peek at the mirror in my room. I noticed that I was still wearing an outfit resembling a set of pyjamas. Curious about the time, I took a swift glanced at the clock hanging on the wall.

[3:00 p.m.]

"This bastard… He really woke up at the afternoon, huh?"

It wasn't unusual; waking up in the afternoon was a daily routine for this lazy bastard.

"Whatever. I'll just go get changed first. I can't wear this pyjamas to the library."

After that, I headed to my room's personal bathroom. It was quite big. In fact, it was even more spacious than my previous house.

"What a huge bathroom…" I said, looking around the luxurious place.

Then, I headed towards the closet at the corner of the room for the sake of finding a set of clothes to wear.

"Anyways, what should I wear?"

l scoured through the huge variety of expensive clothings in the closet. After scouring, I picked a set of casual and fancy clothes.

I started going to the library as soon as I changed.

However, during my trip to the library, I unexpectedly crossed paths with Winston, who happened to be tidying up the equipment in the training hall.

"My lord? Where are you going?"

He looked at me with curiosity, wanting to know where I was headed to.

"The library."

"What? The library?!" He replied, surprised by my decision to visit the library.

"Yeah. Don't bother me. I'm going now." I said, quickly walking off to avoid any more questions from him.

I continued my trip to the library. After walking nonstop for about 5 minutes, I had finally reached my destination.

Upon my arrival, I looked up to an armoured person standing in front of the large door of the library.

"Hey, you. Open the door."

"…"

"Tsk. Can you hear me? You're not deaf, are you?"

I acted irritated. It was to mimic the original prince's attitude too. I did not want to cause any unnecessary troubles or attract any attentions for the sudden change of attitude.

Then, out of nowhere, a female voice spoke behind me. "Your Highness, you must show him your identity card."

Out of curiosity, I turned towards my back, wondering who was it that spoke. A simple dress with apron over it, along with a skirt. It was a maid. She was coincidentally tidying up the area around the library.

"Huh?" I said softly.

I didn't understand what she was talking about at first, but after processing her words, I suddenly realized what she might have meant.

"Ah!"

I quickly searched my pant's pockets. Following that, I took out a white card from my right pocket.

+

Emrys Lorendale

Male

6th Prince Of Dale

Dale Kingdom

+

"You mean this?" I asked, holding the card on my right hand.

"Yes, Your Highness." She nodded.

Immediately, I turned back towards the armoured person, who was still standing in front of the library's door.

"Here's my card."

I extended my hand and gave him the identification card.

"Now, quickly let me in."

I urged him to hasten the checking process. I wanted to avoid wasting any more of my precious time.

However, without responding, he silently took the identification card that I handed to him and checked it. After checking my identity card, he opened the library's door and gestured for me to enter.

"I greet Your Highness, Prince Emrys. Please enjoy your time in the library," he said, bowing at me with a ninety-degree angle as a sign of respect.

"Yeah. Thanks." I said as I walked past him without batting an eye.

I avoided eye contact with him as I felt that it would be awkward. I wasn't used to the attention that I would get as a prince.

Then, I walked through the large and fancy wooden door and finally entered the library after wasting away some time.
