Recovering

Li Feng looked down at his hands.

Luckily, a few hours after he was unable to take in anymore, a round of people with veils of cloth covering their nose walked in, ready to clean up the dozens of stinking people in the hall.

Apparently, everyone in the room had the same side effect of taking the pill that Li Feng had.

After a rudimentary collection of a layer of the slime on Li Feng's body, he could see a difference that didn't make any sense to him.

His skin sparkled with a translucent halo. It glowed with a yellow, soft light like it was made out of gold.

And he could see blue veins pop more prominently on this translucent backdrop, like they were ready to come out.

But that was not where everything stopped.

Li Feng could feel that the moment he started circulating his Qi, the bottleneck that was known as the Shaoyang meridian just disappeared.

Vanishing in mere moments, his Qi just burst forward and as it did, he could feel all the muscles in his body suddenly energize.

It was like a boost to his entire body, a boost that let him forget the pain that dulled his senses for the past few hours.

"The Muscle Tempering Stage. I feel like I am reaching the end of this stage…" Li Feng thought to himself.

There was a clear goal that he had in mind… a goal that he had to reach before the next Inner Sect trial was going to start.

According to what he remembered, to pass the trial, he was supposed to be in the Qi Foundation Stage, at a minimum.

And to reach that stage was going to be no small feat.

He knew just by looking around him that everyone around him was probably in the Muscle Tempering or the Bone Tempering Stage.

That meant that even after cultivating all their life, with the resources that their families gave them, they were not able to reach any higher than the Bone Tempering Stage.

"You are different from them." Li Feng reminded himself.

"You are more talented. You can work harder than them." He told himself as he looked inward once again.

The goal of circulating his Qi was not to suddenly break through. He needed to use it so that it could heal his body faster.

Although the pain had dulled, it was still present. And there was no way he was going to walk out of here without any help unless he quickly recovered all of his injuries.

Li Feng could feel his Dantian drain as quickly as it was being filled.

His body felt like an unquenchable reservoir.

It was broken, and it was using Qi to fix itself.

As he was taking in the rich Qi around him, he feel his body slightly increase its tenacity. Muscles healed faster, cracked bones seemed to be mending.

It would normally take weeks for a cracked bone to heal.

But as he felt an abnormal amount of Qi in his body fill him with euphoria, he felt as if his left hand could heal in maybe a few days.

Around him, he saw that the other people in the hall were starting to leave, with the help of some foreign faces that he did not recognize.

"The benefit of being a part of a rich house…" Li Feng chuckled.

"You have other friends and family in a sect like this already."

He shook his head and closed his eyes once more. He was going to spend the next day here, probably, and once that passed, he could return to his normal life.

"Normal life? Don't joke around. I need to understand what just happened." He shook his head.

"Excuse me?" A small whisper floated around his ear.

"Excuse me!?"

The whisper got louder.

Li Feng opened his eyes and looked to the side.

He saw a young girl, a few years younger than even him, glared at him with angry eyes. Her mouth was pouting, and she looked at him like he did something wrong.

"I am sorry, what happened?" He asked calmly.

"What do you think you are doing? Do you have any sense of propriety? Did you really just use the pill that Elder Bo gave you to advance in cultivation?" She shouted at him.

Li Feng looked around at the glances that the others were giving him.

He smiled bitterly.

"The breakthrough happened naturally. Nothing that I could do about it." He shrugged.

"You… Now we have to keep monitoring you to see if you are going to heal properly. And who is going to have to do the extra work? Obviously me!" She pouted again, shaking her head.

"Because of your stupid mistake, I get extra work." She said.

"Sorry, sorry." Li Feng raised his hands up.

Immediately, he winced. It was a mistake that he was not used to. The pain in his left arm had not subsided yet.

"So, for this extra work that you have given me, you have to compensate me." the young girl smiled as she put her hands forward.

She closed her eyes, waiting expectantly to receive something.

Li Feng looked at her, puzzled.

"I am sorry, what? What do you think I have right now? We were just almost killed. If I did have anything with me, you would know. After all, the medicine hall was the one who changed my robes to these…. Unfortunate pieces of clothing." He looked down at the pale blue cloth that barely draped around him.

The young girl opened her eyes suddenly.

"What? You cheapo! You don't even want to give me a few Qi Condensing Pills?" She claimed.

"Cheap?" Li Feng chuckled.

"I don't have any to give to you, kid. Move along. I still have to recover." he sighed and closed his eyes, ready to put that weird incident aside.

"I will get back at you!" The young girl snapped as she ran away.

Li Feng chuckled as he kept his eyes closed, circulating his Qi according to his new cultivation technique.
