Inner Sect

Elder Jing walked everyone to the residences where all the disciples who were already there stared at the newcomers.

The residences were neat houses that were positioned side by side. Each residence had two rooms.

One was a simple room with a bed and cupboard. The other was a closed off room though, with giant doors that isolated sound and light.

In the second room, there was a single mat and an incense holder next to it.

Quickly, these residences were assigned to each of the disciple, and only four were left.

Elder Jing looked at Li Feng, Sima Xun, Qin Bo, and Bai You.

"All of you have something else that needs to be done, I remember? The four empty houses are for the four of you. But now, you must go to where your masters have called you." Elder Jing said.

"The Mighty Sword Peak is in the Outer Sect, along the borders of the sect. Among the seven mountains that surround the sect, the Mighty Sword peak is in the north east." Elder Jing looked at Sima Xun.

Sima Xun cupped his hands together, bowing slightly before he ran toward the north east.

"As for the three halls, it has been a long time since I saw disciples getting into the three halls, and for all three to gain new disciples at the same time… this might well be a first." Elder Jing chuckled.

"Well then, let us get going. For you to enter these halls, we have to walk a little deeper into the sect. After all, you are now no longer ordinary disciples." Elder Jing said with a wise face.

Li Feng paused, trying to contemplate the meaning of those words.

"The location of these halls… is it in the Inner Sect." Suddenly, he spoke.

Elder Jing turned around and looked at Li Feng with a calm face.

"You are impatient, young one." The elder said.

"The three halls… they are a separate entity. I did tell you that, didn't I? The sect has seven peaks surrounding it, and three halls at the center." The Elder said.

"So we will not be entering the Inner Sect. We will be crossing it to go into a territory that not many are allowed to enter." Elder Jing chuckled.

As he said this, Elder Jing started walking down the giant road that split the female and male residences down the middle.

Although it looked like he was walking slowly, Li Feng had to pick up the pace just to barely keep up.

When he looked to the left and right though, he could see Bai You and Qin Bo walk without a single problem.

"These two… they are really cut from a different cloth." He told himself.

The scenery around them quickly changed.

The residences were left far behind them, and Li Feng could see much larger, and more prominent buildings now.

Each one of them had a giant board with the name of the Pavilion.

Elder Jing casually pointed to one of them.

"That one is where I will be most of the time. From tomorrow, when you aren't tending to the tasks that your halls give you, you will be learning from the Outer Sect Elders. After all, this is a sect. And what is a sect, except a place to learn?" The Elder said.

"So every single elder teaches us and guides us along the path of cultivation?" Li Feng's eyes lit up.

"The first few days that you go to are useless. They are merely an introductory to what cultivation is, and the world around you. But after that, the sermons become more tuned to particular problems that cultivators face." Elder Jing nodded as he kept walking.

"After all, there are times when we have also faced bottlenecks, and we broke through them using the experiences of our elders. This knowledge goes down in a cycle."

Li Feng nodded, but he made a mental note to himself, reminding himself to drag himself to the sermon the next day.

He knew for a fact that the two next to him would barely visit these sermons. Most of those rich young masters who were in the same batch as him wouldn't.

But every commoner would see this as a godsend.

Unlike those who were already acquainted with the cultivation world, Li Feng knew nothing. He was a blank canvas, and it was time to paint.

"Ah! The first point." Elder Jing suddenly said, breaking Li Feng's thinking.

He looked forward to see a giant, magnificent arch in front of him.

The arch towered above him, going up a few dozen meters.

Li Feng was surprise that he wasn't able to see it from far away.

"How did I miss something so big?" He thought to himself.

The arch had bronze and gold carvings of dragons and other creatures all over it.

And all of these engravings stopped at the very top, where a plaque stood.

"Inner Sect!"

The plaque had coarse marks that dug into the wooden surface.

The words, Inner Sect, were plastered on it roughly.

But even though it was barely readable, Li Feng stood there, his eyes stuck to the plaque.

The world around him stopped for a second, and a giant field of white encompassed his field of view.

This was a feeling that he was all too accustomed to.

His eyes didn't move, and he looked at the engravings on the plaque.

Every stroke that formed the two words were shining with a radiance that couldn't be described by the normal blue that usually populated this world of white and blue.

The strokes were a dark blue.

Each of them had a light blue glow that radiated around them, like a halo.

"These strokes… they are special… What is so special about them?" He muttered to himself.

"Ahem!"

The colors in the world returned and Li Feng shook himself back to reality.

He looked back at Elder Jing, who was staring at him.

"Forgive me." Li Feng quickly apologized.

"Do not ask me for forgiveness, young child. What you have done… it is something very, very special." Elder Jing smiled.
