Chapter 9: Before the Battle

After escaping from Crowley, Arata and the others soon reached the second line of defense.

"You guys stay here and defend the place. I'll go reunite with Guren" - Saying this, Arata dropped Shinoa's group in an unnoticed place and quickly left the scene.

Arata didn't wait and headed to Shigure's place, who had been watching them for some time.

"Shigure, it's good that you're okay" - Arata said and hugged Shigure without hesitation.

After meeting Crowley, Arata's heart was filled with worry for Mito and Shigure, because they are the two most important people in his life after Maya's death.

To be honest, Arata didn't trust Guren because he refused to tell him anything and always kept everything secret.

But the biggest reason Arata didn't trust Guren was Maheru's sword.

Guren had always listened to Maheru and it was impossible for him to oppose her even if he told her "no", but in the end he would do whatever Maheru wanted.

Feeling the hug from behind, Shigure's body stiffened but quickly relaxed at the sound of Arata's voice.

"Are you alright, Arata?" Shigure asked worriedly, feeling Arata's body tremble slightly.

"I'm fine," Arata said, releasing Shigure from his embrace and taking a deep breath to calm himself.

"Let's go to Guren's place quickly" - Arata said and made two wings with his Black Flame and hugged Shigure's waist and flew into the sky - "So where is Guren?"

Shigure was shocked by Arata's surprise move, but she didn't fight back.

"Guren-sama is on the roof of Building No. 13 on Sixth Street," Shigure replied, slightly embarrassed by Arata's hug, but happy at the same time.

Shigure had known Arata for 4 years and although they had a bad start, she gradually forgot her love for Guren and fell in love with Arata.

Not only she, but Mito also fell in love with this pervert, but unlike her, Mito believed that she did not deserve to love him.

Although Mito always seems to be a tomboy, she is a sensitive girl and worries that Arata will hate her if he finds out that she gave her first kiss to Guren.

Among the girls in Guren's group, only Sayuri loved Guren as before, and the heart of the other two girls was taken by a pervert guy.

Upon hearing where Guren was, Arata didn't hesitate and flapped his wings and flew to the spot with great speed.

When Arata flew, Shigure hugged Arata tightly, causing Arata to feel her breast.

If this was normal, Arata would enjoy this wonderful feeling, but now he didn't feel it because he was so worried about Mito.

While flying to the location indicated by Shigure, Arata was meticulously scanning the area below for traces of humans and vampires.

While scanning the area, Arata saw many humans and Vampires fighting but he didn't care about them, but what caught his attention was a girl with crimson red hair that was knee-length in the shape of a ponytail rushing in their direction while killing the Vampires.

Seeing her, Arata recognized her, and without hesitation, he dived towards the girl, grabbed her waist, and flew again with great speed.

"!!!" - Mito was surprised by the feeling that the ground disappeared from under her feet and the will to resist, but she stopped when she saw the friendly face of the man she loves.

"It's good that you're okay" - Arata whispered and hugged Mito tightly.

"I'm also glad you're okay" - he rarely activated his tsundere pose and Mito sincerely hugged Arata.

"…" Shigure felt uncomfortable seeing that the two of them had entered their own world and ignored her.

"Ouch!!" - Arata shouted and felt a burning pain from his waist as Shigure pinched him.

"It's good to see you're okay, Mito," Shigure said softly, not looking like she was the one who pinched Arata a moment ago.

'How did I feel pain despite having pain resistance' - he thought puzzled because this level of pain shouldn't affect him.

"You too Shigure" - Mito nodded and was happy to see her friend was okay but soon remembered Arata hugging her and tried to resist - "Arata put me down".

"Don't make a fuss, we've already arrived" - said Arata, hugging Mito and Shigure tightly and running down to where Guren was.

"Arata put me down first Sayuri is in danger" - Mito said seriously upon seeing the Vampire sneaking up behind Sayuri.

Hearing Mito's words, Arata quickly lowered Mito onto the Vampire.

When Arata left her, she summoned the Mito Cursed Gear and attacked the vampire.

Booooom*

Due to its strong momentum, it destroyed Mito Vampire and made a hole in the roof of the building.

"You guys are late," Guren said, looking at Mito and Goshi, then turned his eyes to Arata. "Then why are you here?"

"We encountered Ancestor 13 Crowley Eusford on the way to here, so I quickly came to check on Mito and Shigure," Arata replied, and went down with Shigure towards Guren.

"What, do you think the 13th Ancestor can exterminate the Moon Demon Company on his own?" Guren asked with a raised eyebrow, apparently not knowing Crowley's strength.

"Come with me for a moment," said Arata, pulling Guren to the side and telling him about Crowley's true strength.

"That damned Ferid, he had this trump card" - Guren murmured annoyed that one Ferid was enough for him.

"So do you want to withdraw or complete this mission?" - asked Arata and he didn't really care because he would only focus on protecting Mito and Shigure.

"This quest was issued by Hiiraji-sama," Guren said, clearly implying that failure on the quest is not allowed. "Besides, this quest is important to see how much control we have over Owari no Seraph."

"I understand, from now on, I will join your unit and support you," Arata said, not saying anything about Guren's experience.

Arata knew that Guren was telling him not to interfere and spoil his plans.

"Look at yourself trying to look cool" - Guren said sarcastically as he looked at Arata - "Everyone here knows you came for Mito and Shigure."

"That's right" - Arata nodded and didn't deny Guren's words but he would have come even if Mito and Shigure weren't here but they are in a safe place and help Guren's group because they are all his friends.

"You guys, prepare to attack," Guren commanded, drawing his sword from its scabbard. "We will kill all the Vampires."

"You say it easily" - Goshi murmured and took out his Cursed Gear.

"Let's go," Guren said and jumped off the building, followed by his squad and Arata.

Upon seeing Guren, the Moon Demon Company gathered to await Guren's orders.

"What a nuisance" - murmured Arata upon seeing Guren giving a wonderful speech.

Although Arata would have preferred to fight the Vampires than hear Guren's speech, he hadn't forgotten his purpose in only coming here and putting up with it.
