9 In Two Months' Time,

it's very rare to see Eva getting flustered and mad. She didn't even give a damn about those haters online, but this time she wasn't able to control her emotions.

Eva stopped midair from throwing the flowers. She looked at her best friend with puppy eyes. "if I accept this flower, does that mean I like him?"

"Nope. No one would know you accepted it. We can just say you threw it away if anybody would ask." she answered her question to completely support her friend. She knew her heart would ache if such a beautiful thing ended up in the trash.

"Then I'll take this."

However, that surprise didn't end there. Perhaps we could say, John, didn't plan to stop surprising her.

The next day, Merry came back from work with Teddy Bear. Eva was shocked to see such a huge stuffed toy inside their house.

"Oh my goodness! This couldn't be." Eva was red from embarrassment. "Again?" She face-palmed herself internally.

Herry gave her another small piece of paper that contains some words. I AM NOT WITH YOU ALL THE TIME BUT YOU CAN HUG THIS WHENEVER YOU FEEL SAD AND LONELY -John

"That's not happening. He won't become my boyfriend. Ever." She throws the paper away in anger. But honestly, she felt a little sweet. 'Don't let these small gestures fool you!' Eva chanted to herself again and again.

Eva took the bear left in a hurry as if the bear didn't weigh more than a feather.

On the third day, Merry came with a box of chocolates. They were in different shapes which made it cute. A note was also written on a piece of paper. SWEETS FOR THE SWEETEST GIRL I KNOW. - John

The fourth day came and Merry came home with a heart-shaped pillow. THIS PILLOW MADE ME THINK OF YOU WHENEVER I GO TO SLEEP. I'M GIVING THIS TO YOU AND HOPE YOU'D THINK OF ME, TOO. -John. That was written in the paper that Merry gave to her.

"Enough! This is enough! I'll beat him to death if ever he sent me another thing again!" Even though she said those words, she still accepted the gift.

"Is it the same delivery shop that sends these things to the cafe?" Eva asked Merry while punching the pillow as if hitting it would make her hit John as well.

Merry put her bag on the couch before answering, "Yeah. I checked and they came at the same time each day."

"Good. Very good. I'll make sure to give him a beating tomorrow!" Eva punched the pillow one more time before getting her tablet and searching for the store name and its location.

Merry mentioned that the gifts were sent out every day at three o'clock in the afternoon. The next day, she visited the store two hours before they would go out with deliveries.

Just as expected, John came with another gift to be sent. When he entered the store, he was stunned to see her there, standing with her arms crossed on her chest.

"What are you doing here?" John asked in bewilderment. He never expected her to be there or more like waiting for him to show up.

Eva snickered while glaring at him. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? What do you think you're doing? I'm not some kind of charity for you to send me things."

John was silenced at her words. He never meant it that way. "I didn't do it because you're some charity case. I know you have money to buy those but I don't know what to give you."

"I already told you. It won't work between us." Eva stormed out of the store with John following behind her.

The driver who saw John chasing after a pretty girl widened her eyes in surprise. Their Mr John never showed any interest in women, but now he was chasing after that girl.

" Eva, wait." John quickened his steps and held her by her arms.

"How did you know my name?"

"Didn't you give it to me that night?"

"Did I?" Eva looked at him and sighed. "Anyway, let's talk." John smiled upon hearing her take the initiative for conversation.

Eva went inside the nearest cafe to find a place where they could speak. She didn't want to bring him to Summer Cafe knowing that many people would be eavesdropping.

"This is for you." John handed her the box that he was carrying since earlier.

Eva took it and placed it beside her. "Thank you. But, you didn't really have to do this. I meant what I said before. Things won't just work between us."

"How do you know when you're not giving it a try? Can you really not give me a chance?" He looked so sincere that Eva started changing her mind.

"I just don't think it's necessary." Eva looked outside the window while speaking. "Nothing has ever worked and it would never change. I just don't want to involve myself in any relationship."

"I'm serious about you. This is my first time pursuing someone and I might look clumsy at it so you don't have hopes for me. But I am serious. Really serious." John looked at her without blinking his eyes.

Eva watched him carefully. It won't hurt to give him a chance knowing that she would never fall in love but she would be wasting his time that could've been used to pursue someone he really likes.

"Let's have two months. If things won't change between us, let's go on separate ways. Do you agree?" Eva asked with so much difficulty. She didn't want to involve herself with him but he would pester him if she won't yield.

John smiled and nodded his head. "I agree. In two months' time, I'll prove to you that I am worthy of your love." He winked at her which made Eva chuckle.

"Also, don't demand time from me. I don't have so much spare time. I'll let you know if I have time to go on a date."
