15 Angel

"Forward all the things needed to be done within these three days.

Remove my schedules for Saturday." Then he went to his phone once again. "I am available on Saturday. Is that okay?"

"Yup. Saturday is fine. I'll send you the place and time. For now, just do your best at work. You can send me a text when you're bored. Don't call me during working hours. You might get caught and scolded."

"Are you worried for me?" John asked cheekily at her but Eva could only roll her eyes.

"I am just stating facts. You go back to work now." Eva was still typing a reply to some emails that were sent to her for some collaboration using her songs.

"Alright. I'll do my best."

"Bye."

"Goodbye." John put down his phone with a grin still hanging on his lips. "I need to work now. You guys go on an extended break. Come back after an hour. Leave those documents with me. I will review it. Keep moving now."

They all stood up and gave him their documented ideas on each proposal for the vacant lot. His assistant showed him the information she took notes of and some relevant ideas.

"Who exactly is that?" Everybody wanted an answer to this question but nobody has an answer unless the devil himself would answer it. John worked the whole day to make time for her on Saturday.

Every time he finished up a document, he would send her a message to give her an update.

Eva didn't mind him sending messages to her since she's got nothing to do as well. She had this thought in her mind that John will find her boring sooner or later, so she wasn't the least bit worried.

'Ding!' Eva's phone notified her of a new message.

I MANAGED TO FINISH EVERYTHING. DO YOU WANT TO HAVE DINNER TOGETHER?

It was a message from John who was still at the company, finalizing all the details for the next day's work.

NOT NOW. I HAVE SOMETHING TO DO. I'LL SEE YOU ON SATURDAY, OKAY?

Eva responded while pouring a glass of milk for herself before going back to her room. She had to finish her work to focus on herself for the upcoming days.

No matter what, she had to fulfil her own wishes before leaving for States. That was her main goal for all the hassle she went through.

John didn't force her to have dinner with him because, in truth, he had to meet someone for an important matter. He just asked her and in case she would agree, he could just postpone the planned private meeting that night.

John changed his suit to a new one before leaving his office. He had asked his assistant earlier to buy a bunch of pink roses for him to bring to the gathering.

He arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time to make a good impression. He looked so handsome in his suit and tie with a bouquet of pink roses in his arms.

On the other hand, Eva was busy with work and she had been feeling dizzy since afternoon.

She called Merry and asked her to bring her some chocolate cake on the way home.

"You want to eat chocolate cake tonight? Aren't you worried about so many carbs?" Merry asked while driving her car to a cake shop. If she had known, she would've taken some from their cafe!

Eva just smiled while listening to her friend's nagging on the other line. She really wanted to eat a cake. She felt that the dizziness would go away after she gets what she wants.

"Drive safely. Don't forget my cake! That's for my baby!" Eva joked at her best friend.

"I know. Just wait for me at home." Merry ended the call after her statement.

When the call got ended Eva sat down with a helpless smile. "Will she kill me if I tell her now that I don't want a cake anymore but a mango graham shake instead? What to do now?"

She was torn between calling Merry again or not. She knew very well that Merry would grill her from anger.

Eva grew up into a cold person and she started to despise the word love. The only love that was given to her was taken away from her at a very young age. Little by little, she was only surrounded by darkness. Only a little light kept her on track, the light brought by Merry's family.

How do you expect a young girl, abandoned by her father, to feel the love? How do you expect a young girl, who was left by her mother, to feel the love? How do you expect a young girl, who thought her mother's friend cared for her but actually caused her death, to feel the love?

Love was just a fleeting feeling. You think it was there but the next second it was not. Love was something not meant for her. Love was something she'd never want herself to get involved with. It was such a pain in the ass.

Eva was lying down with her back on her bed. Her right arm was covering her eyes, stopping the tears from falling. Guilt and grief were coating her heart, forming another layer to suffocate her, drown her and break her.

"I'm sorry mom I didn't find my sister, I am worried about her where is she dead or live? Where are you, Angel? I miss you so much you are my sister you are my love…." Eva cried her heart out the whole night. The fruits she brought with her were left untouched as she curled herself into a ball.

"And I am late again!"

Angel sobbed as she hastily slipped her foot into the sandal. She was sipping orange juice from a small can which was her only breakfast.

As she stepped out, she almost collided with her neighbour.

"Oh, dear! Be careful! You almost broke my eggs."

"Sorry, Aunt! But I am getting late!"
