1 Chapter 1: Bright Lights

In a small barrio in the town of Indang, A young girl is looking out of the window of their home, As she silently breathes in the fresh air while her favorite song by her favorite band is playing on the radio.

Arnie: It is so quiet in the barrio, it is really nice here. The air is fresh and there is no pollution.

tok... tok..... tok.....

Arnie turned to look at the stairs when she heard footsteps, where Loida her sister, head's showed up.

Loida: Older sister, Arnie..... mother wants you to come down now, we're going to eat.

Arnie: okay..... I'm coming in a bit...

Arnie closed the window carefully then she approached the radio to remove the cassette tape in it.

Oh, Arnie..... you're here..... come over here and we'll start to eat. her mother Betty urged her.

Arnie: Yes mom... how about dad? he's not home yet?

Betty: He already arrived and eat dinner, his friend Narding came and invite him to play mahjong.

Arnie: ah, I see... mom..... are we going to our farm early tomorrow?

Betty: Yes, we're going to harvest our coconuts tomorrow that's why we need to be there early. And we'll also load the firewoods in the cart.

Arnie eats with gusto together with her mother and her siblings Loida, Jr, and Rossane.

Arnie is the third in the six siblings, her two older sisters married at a young age.

Arnie is only 16 years old and behaves like a man (tomboyish) she loves to sing and listens to bands and rock songs.

She has many friends and most of the time she joined them playing tag and water games at night when the moon is bright.

She's studying as a secondary student in the town of Indang. She, her siblings, and her friends

were glad because the summer vacation was about to start.
