*Kiyoko Sasaki's POV*

"W-Where am I?"

I woke up and found myself surrounded by darkness where there was nothing to be seen. I wandered around finding any clues to where I am, but because of this uncomfortable atmosphere, I started to panic, and I needed to calm myself first in order to handle this situation.

"You can do this, Kiyoko Sasaki. I know you can. Just one step at a time from this... nothingness…"

I continued walking slowly. How many minutes has it been? There is still nothing around here. My body started sweating, and my hands started shaking because of fear. Suddenly, I bumped into someone and immediately apologized, but there was no response from that person. Because of the dark, I can not see the person's face, but I am sure that there is someone in front of me because I can sense his presence.

"Umm... Hello?"

Still no response from him. It made me really uncomfortable, and I started walking away from the presence of that person. I am scared to turn my back to him, and I was a little bit paranoid that something bad might happen. I do not have any choice, and this silence is killing me already.

Still clueless about this place, I immediately left that area quickly, but suddenly, someone held my shoulder.

His hand is huge, it is almost the same as the size of the hands of professional basketball players. He was holding me tightly, and my whole body started shaking because of the pain he was giving to me. I am terrified. What should I do?

Then, that person whispered something into my ear.

"Murderer..."

He had a terrifying deep husky voice. Murderer? What is he talking about? I know that I have not killed anyone before. Besides, who is this person? Why is he holding me tightly like he has a grudge against me? I don't even know who he is. The way he is holding my shoulders started to get painful. I tried struggling, but it was no use.

"Stop it, please! I have done nothing against you! Just let me go…"

"Oh, really?"

Another presence appeared in front of me. A woman who I also can't see clearly because of the dark. I started crying, I do not know where I am, and I do not have any clue why these people are angry at me.

More presences started showing up shouting things that I murdered them, and their loved ones.

"You ruined my life!"

"Bring me back my father!"

"I hope that one day you will die, and no one will be there to see you!"

"DIE YOU FUCKING MURDERER YOU RUINED A LOT OF LIVES!"

These words were drilled straight into my head. Even while covering my ears, I can still hear their voices. A woman, a man, and even a child are cursing me right now. My eyes are tired of crying because of how much despair I am in right now.

I can not take this anymore! What have I done? I ask this to myself a million times while they are cursing at me. I do not have a single clue why they are doing this.

"JUST STOP IT PLEASE!! I DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG!! WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!"

I begged in front of them and pleaded for mercy just like how any slave will do to their master when they are on the verge of dying. I just want to leave this place, even if I do not know where I am.

There are loud stomps approaching in front of me. These figures started carrying my body, and there I saw a tall man who made the loud stomps earlier holding a knife. I am scared, I do not want to die, I want to live.

"DIE."

The man stabbed me in the heart. I only read on the internet what it feels like dying, and now I know that kind of feeling.

This excruciating pain, hands suddenly turning pale, I felt cold, I felt my blood flowing throughout my body, my vision began to blur, the only thing I can hear now is the beat of my heart getting slower, and the laughs of these people who have a grudge against me. It really was terrifying. Then, darkness was the only thing that I could see, and my heart suddenly stopped.

"Ah, I died..."

*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*

I was shocked by the noise beside me. I looked at it, and it was just my alarm clock that was ringing.

But then that could mean… All the things that happened earlier...

"AAAAAAH! IT WAS JUST A FUCKING DREAM!!"

//April 13, 2040//Friday//

Out of frustration, I threw my pillow at the wall. Damn it, I thought I actually died back there.

I laid down on my bed then stared at the ceiling thinking about what I just dreamt of. The feeling of someone stabbing your heart, what a terrifying experience it was.

"It was just a terrifying nightmare."

I checked my alarm clock, and it was already 6:30 in the morning. This is my first day at Saitei University, and school starts later at 9:30 am. The university is close to my house, and a 15 minutes walking distance from home is all I need to get there.

Saitei University is an exceptional, and popular school handled by the School Director Kenji Takizawa. They said that gifted college students became successful with their careers because of the education the school provides in their chosen field.

Usually, in college, students will first start with the general subjects such as Mathematics, and History in their freshman year, but in this school, students will study their chosen course on the first day when they attend their classes.

It can be cooking, sports, or anything else. This school will provide the students with advanced equipment, and professional professors in their field of expertise. It was kind of unusual that Saitei University did not have any opening ceremonies for their students. Every school should have this kind of ceremony on the first day but instead, all of us will start our first day studying in our chosen courses right away.

*GROWL*

"I'm hungry."

I left my room and started making my breakfast.

My name is Kiyoko Sasaki, and I have lived by myself for a very long time. Someone told me that my parents died from a car crash when I was still a kid, and that is how I started to learn how I can live by myself at an early age.

I do not usually boast about myself, but I am an intelligent individual. After my parents died, I easily got over it since I do not have a lot of memories about them, and I was still young at that time after all. I do not have any relatives, and I am all alone. That is the reason why I thought that there was no point crying. Instead, I should be learning how to live on my own since I will only be relying on myself, and not from anyone else.

I started learning the basics about living by myself and even started to earn money at a young age. Because of my intellect, different professionals from the field of Engineering, Mathematics, and other major fields started to ask for my help in exchange for money.

I sat down in the living room to watch the news while eating my breakfast. I usually watch these kinds of things so that I can be aware of what is happening here in Japan.

We are already in the year 2040, and this country has become more advanced as time passes by. Sometimes, I learn new things in the news like famous people, and new discoveries that humans have found through their research.

"Breaking News! A student has discovered a way to transfer Rabbit's DNA into herself, and grew Rabbit Ears!"

I was watching the student from the news who had Rabbit Ears being interviewed by a lot of people because of her experiment transferring a Rabbit's DNA into herself.

She is adorable, has long pink hair, and wears glasses. Maybe I am also a bit taller than her? She really looks shy in front of the public and stutters most of the time when people ask about her experiment.

"J-Just stop it! I really need to go to school. I am really sorry, maybe another time!!!"

She walked away quickly and started to go inside a laboratory. Maybe that is where she lives? Her parents' laboratory perhaps?

"The student that we saw a while ago excels in Biotechnology, and in the field of Medicine. The laboratory that she entered was her place where she usually does her experiments. Her projects are becoming a demand by a lot of scientists, and doctors. That is how she was able to do more advanced experiments, and earned a lot of money to build this place."

"It's her place?!"

I was surprised that someone who looks the same age as me had her own laboratory and even her projects are being bought for a high price.

"I guess there are people who are just like me. Sigh... The world really is a big place."

I took a glimpse at the clock, and the time was now 8:00 am. I should prepare to go to school now.

I took a bath and wore my clothes. There was no uniform provided to us by the school, and they said that it is okay to wear anything as long as it is appropriate. It is now 8:30 am. I left home and started walking to school.

As I am getting closer to the place, I feel something strange about the area.

"Huh?"

Why are there no people going to Saitei University?
