So this is a God.

*Flashback 30 minutes before the battle began.*

Deacon POV:

Everything seemed right tonight, my son had returned from another victorious hunt, bringing rabbit meat and its fur. I have to admit, I never would have expected that the little baby my wife brought one day would have almost become a man already. He only had two years left and he would already be a man and would take the tests to become a Spartan.

Knowing him, I am certain he will pass the tests and become the first Spartan in the family.

Just look, with only 5 years old, he started hunting bigger things than rabbits, but I almost fainted when one day he brought the corpse of a bear. That day was one of the happiest and saddest of my life. Since I could see with my own eyes how quickly my son had grown. I still remember when I took him hunting rabbits for the first time. Those were good times.

While I was thinking about the good times lying on my bed with my wife by my side, suddenly I heard someone knocking hard on the door of the house.

"Who could it be at this time of night?"

"I don't know, dear, let me check it out."

And so, I put on my Chiton and headed to the door where I met one of my friends from when I was taking the Spartan tests, Bemus.

"What brings you here at this hour, Bemus?"

"Good evening to you too, Deacon, but there's no time for explanations, in a few minutes, there's going to be an assault on the city and we need all the men we can get."

"What do you mean an assault? Who dares to attack the city of Sparta?"

"It's not a who, dear friend, it's a what. According to the Spartans who brought the information, it's an army of thousands of monsters or giant animals."

"How?"

"I know you're confused, but now is not the time to be, it's time to prepare for battle. So get ready and meet us at the barracks just at the entrance of the gate."

"I understand."

After finishing our brief conversation, I closed the door and turned around to get my weapons and leather armor.

Once I was ready to head to the barracks, I found Astoria looking at me with concern.

"Where are you going with all that, Deacon?"

"There's going to be a battle, and I've been called to prepare and report to the main gate barracks."

"Why do you have to go? You're not a soldier, Deacon, you're a hunter."

"Astoria, they're going to try to invade our home, I can't just stand by and do nothing."

"But Deacon..."

"Don't worry, Astoria, I'll go to battle, and before you know it, I'll be back here with you tomorrow."

With the best smile I could muster, I went to my wife to give her a hug and a kiss.

"Rest, I love you."

"I love you too, and don't forget your promise. See you tomorrow."

I nodded and turned around, leaving my house, heading towards the barracks.

The streets of Sparta had a special glow tonight.

I could see many men who were not soldiers, heading towards the barracks. We all had the same expression.

We had to win for our families. We are defending our home.

When I arrived with another group of men at the barracks, I could see the commander giving orders to the soldiers. After hearing them, they ran out.

The screams and noises of the animals could be heard from here.

The general we were sent to, explained to us that we would be the reinforcements in case we found ourselves at a disadvantage.

Obviously, once I confirmed that our enemies were only large animals, I thought our help would not be necessary.

I couldn't have been more wrong, as not even 10 minutes passed when we were called to prepare ourselves because we were going into battle.

They placed us in different squads and made us march in order.

I could feel my heart beating harder and harder, may the gods have mercy on us.

I don't know how much time passed, but for me, it seemed like an eternity. Until we were given the order to march and the city gate was opened, revealing the battlefield.

There were Spartan bodies everywhere and far fewer of those animals.

When I saw our enemies, I couldn't help but swallow hard. Those were not animals. They were monsters.

'Astoria and Deo'

I kept calm, I have to keep my composure. I am defending my home and my family. We cannot lose.

"Chargeeeeeeeeeee!"

And with that cry, we all sprang into action, joining the Spartans who were fighting against those monsters.

We can win, we must win.

We were gaining an advantage and pushing the monsters back when out of nowhere, a new group of monsters entered the battle.

We had been caught, they had played with us.

This new group of monsters was charging forward without any intention of stopping.

The Spartans at the front were doing everything they could to stop them. But it was all in vain. They are unstoppable.

I looked around at my compatriots and could see the desperation on their faces.

They had lost all desire to fight. But I couldn't stop here, I couldn't let them pass.

I wielded my hunting knife in one hand, while in the other, I wielded the sword of a fallen Spartan.

'Even if I die here, I won't let you pass.'

I thought as I watched the horde of monsters approaching quickly.

'I'm so sorry, my love, for not being able to keep my promise.'

I thought again as I shed the first tears in years with a smile on my face.

"Spartans, we cannot let them pass. We are defending our city, our home, our pride, our honor, and most importantly, our families!"

I shouted as I looked around, seeing all the Spartans gaining energy.

"Spartans! Chargeeeeeeeeeee!"

And so we began to run to meet this new horde on the battlefield.

"Roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

Or that was the plan, because when suddenly we were about to fight, I heard the largest roar I had ever heard in my life.

And after that roar, more and more came.

And out of nowhere, from our own shadows, new monsters began to emerge. The whole battlefield froze, it was a scene for eternity. Hundreds of monsters of different sizes began to appear and position themselves in front of us.

"You have fought bravely, human, now it's our turn."

I could hear a voice speaking next to me, and when I turned, I could see a gigantic monster over 6 meters tall, with several heads that looked like snakes.

Next to it, a large bear, what looked like a rabbit over 2 meters tall with deer antlers on its head, a large boar with enormous tusks and a body that emitted monumental strength. Finally, a large wolf that also emitted a majestic and intimidating aura at the same time.

"Who are you?"

I couldn't help but ask, feeling the gaze of all these monsters on me and at the same time, that of all the Spartans behind me.

"We are the generals of Osiris, the God of death. You can call me Nag."

"Osiris?"

I didn't know that God, I knew Ares and Athena,

who were our main gods. But I had never heard of a God of death. It seems that the Spartans behind me hadn't heard of him either, as I heard some murmuring, wondering who Osiris is.

"That's right, our lord has sent us to save you, so don't worry and leave it to us."

This time it was the rabbit who spoke.

"And where is Osiris?"

One of the Spartans shouted.

"Be careful with your words, human, Osiris is the supreme God who reigns over death and life. Speak with respect."

The temperature of the environment dropped to freezing temperatures after Nag's words.

"Our lord is present here, watching everything. It's just that these trash are not worthy of his presence."

"Enough talk, Ruby, it's time to carry out our orders. Annihilate all enemies."

I don't know what was more intimidating, knowing that Osiris was present, or the orders that Osiris had given to his generals.

And so, the battle that would be marked in history began. Like the first time Osiris entered battle.

From the beginning, this was not a battle in which we mortals could participate.

Fortunately, Osiris's army was massacring the monsters. Because it didn't matter how many times they killed an Osiris soldier, he would revive without any problems. Especially the generals of Osiris were annihilating any monster that stood in their way.

The wolf moved like the wind, fast and unpredictable, and somehow, it only needed to look at an enemy for it to be cut into pieces.

The boar was charging against the monsters without them being able to stop him. Occasionally spikes would emerge from the ground piercing the monsters.

The bear was crushing all the monsters with its jaws and claws. Thanks to the vines that emerged from the ground and immobilized them.

But the two most intimidating and impressive were the rabbit and Nag.

The rabbit seemed to be surrounded by lightning and disappeared from view for a second. When it reappeared, dozens of monsters had been annihilated, some even seemed to have been burned.

Lastly, Nag, he was surrounded by hundreds of monsters, but they couldn't do anything to him, as his skin seemed like a fortress incapable of being penetrated, and his heads emitted a green mist that caused any monster that was touched by it to fall to the ground immediately while its body seemed to be melting away.

But new monsters kept coming to the battlefield, the information we had been given was false. It didn't seem like there were only a few thousand monsters, but it seemed like there were almost a hundred thousand monsters.

After a few minutes, the number of monsters was countless. It seemed that it was getting harder and harder for Osiris's army.

A group of monsters went out of sight of Osiris's soldiers and came straight towards us.

'Shit'

"Spartans, prepare for combat"

I brandished my weapons again and when the first monster seemed like it was going to jump on us. It remained still and slowly its body split in two.

In front of us, I don't know when it had arrived, but there was what appeared to be a man dressed completely in black and with a scythe in his hand with the monster's blood shining under the moonlight.

This man has a divine and at the same time eerie aura. It's as if I can't move as long as he's present.

"You humans don't need to do anything because our lord has arrived."

I heard Nag's voice again and realized who we had in front of us.

We were in the presence of a god, specifically the god of death and life. Osiris.

"It seems there were more trash than we estimated"

These were the first words Osiris said.

"That's right, my lord, but it won't be a problem to get rid of all of them. It's just that it will take us a little longer than expected."

"I see, but my time is precious, and I don't want to waste it with this trash."

"Arise"

After saying the last word, I could finally see the meaning of being the god of life and death.

Of the thousands of corpses on the battlefield. Each and every one of them came back to life and joined the battle again, but this time on Osiris's side.

But Osiris didn't seem satisfied with this and said again.

"Death's Dominion"

Osiris's shadow seemed to extend across the entire battlefield, and every soldier in his army who was on this dominion seemed to have gained greater strength than they had before.

Seeing this result, Osiris seemed to nod and conjured what looked like a throne made of his own shadow and sat there to watch how the battle unfolded.

As Nag had said, the monsters they themselves called trash did not require their presence in battle.

Deo POV

After the incorporation of my army, the outcome of this battle seemed already sealed, since after the increase of thousands of shadows to my army and the use of the dominion of death, my army was unstoppable.

But I wasn't convinced with what was happening, I was doubting the reason for the absence of the dragon.

'Why wasn't the general appearing?'

It was the only question left for me to solve to finish the puzzle.

I had sent several shadows to the surroundings, to find the general, who given the description, I assumed was a dragon.

However, although the battle was not far from ending and there was still no trace of the general.

I had deduced that there were two possible reasons why the dragon had not appeared.

The first reason which is obvious, is that the dragon had decided to flee without further ado and the second...

Deacon POV:

Osiris had been sitting on the throne the whole time, watching the battle, which was about to end.

He hadn't said anything the whole time, until suddenly.

"Found you."
