CHAPTER 7 - DEFEAT

Chapter 7 - Defeat.

POV ELIJAH.

Getting to my feet was the easy part. Getting over the fact that I'm completely getting shut down in all magic aspects, however, was not so easy. The shell that monster possesses is something that I never expected. My magic is strong, but it's not so strong to be able to blast a hole in that armor without struggle.

This is pathetic.

I was the best- No, the strongest mage in my time back on earth. Hell, people even went as far as to give me the title of God of Magic.

'So much for that.'

"RAAAAA!" The monster roared to life once more, its claws raised to the sky, initiating its new attack. I squinted.

The monster wasn't looking to do a projectile attack, this time it was doing something else. I just couldn't make it out.

That was until it shot forth on all six legs, its figure moving faster than it presented it could. My gaze immediately fell on Erylis, the look of shock and fear plastered on her cute face made me groan internally.

My whole plan was to keep her out of this, I knew she was weak right now but somehow that giant chimera made for a scorpion played me. Getting toyed with by a monster that is by all means weaker than you is fucking pathetic.

Mana rushed through my entire being, encasing my muscles and my bones before centering at my feet. With a kick, my vision shifted as it tunneled, the only thing in my sight was her.

BOOM! *

"Un!" Erylis grunted from the force of me. Her arms wrapped tight around my neck as her naked body rested within my arms. I got to her before the monster did, so that's a boon.

My eyes narrowed in irritation.

"...I'm going to need you to leave the room." I spoke, Erylis' attention was on me. Her eyes widened, the look of wanting to repudiate shining within them before they relaxed, her eyes failing to hide her disappointment.

"...Okay." She responded, tightening her grip. The Monster was preoccupied right now with trying to get its own head out of the dungeon wall. This would be the best chance to get her out of the way before it finally set its sights on me so that's what I did.

Once more dashing towards the door with impeccable speed, the giant, fifteen-meter door swung open, a gust of wind following behind it. Cloud looked up expectantly only to twist his head in confusion and interest.

"He's nice. He won't bite… I think." Erylis' eyes brightened seeing Cloud. From that alone I figured she didn't hear a word I said. Quite the personality… Seems she's more of a dog person.

I turned to leave, my sliver of freedom withering away with every passing moment. My mind was already working on different spells that I could utilize to pierce that beast's shell coating, one of them had actually seemed pleasing.

"...Be careful." Before I even made it inside the door Erylis spoke, her soft voice caressing my ears with her words of care. It was nice, but unneeded because as of now, I had an idea that was most definitely going to work.

'Hajime was out here beating this beast senseless with just a pistol powered with lightning… Yet here I am, a full arsenal of magic spells and I'm still struggling.' I admonished myself mentally as I gave Erylis a reassuring nod.

Though, it didn't seem to ease her worry.

"GRAAAA!" The beast was free and now I had to get back to work. The door to the corridor shut with a loud doom! Pressurized wind following through along with it.

Before the door even shut, I was on the move, my body already coursing with pure mana boosting my every physical stat. Dashing from my spot and appearing seemingly instantly in front of the Guardian, my right hand glared with bright, golden-black mana before it took on the form of pure electricity.

Stems from my spell shot from my hand and fried anything it came into touch with, charring some spots on the Guardian, giving it a look of a leopard.

My loc's covered my sight as mana kept pouring into my spell at an astronomical rate. The Guardian didn't have any time to react when I plunged my fist deep within its snout, my lightning frying it instantly.

"ARRRRRRAH!" It belted out in pain but that soon came to a stunning silence as a blinding flash coiled around my fist and my spell seemingly dissipated. Only to come back with roaring thunder as a beam of pure mana and electricity shot out of my hand like a rail gun.

It instantly pierced through the Guardians nose, digging deeper and deeper within the skull of the monster.

This all lasted about a second.

And in that second, the very flesh that made up the Guardians identity had melted into a steaming pile of sludge. The smell was so awful I visibly recoiled after removing my fist.

Despite the disgust, I couldn't help but recognize the undying feeling of weakness. I was granted amazing abilities, don't get me wrong. My lineage gave me the boost in magical power and mana finesse that would've helped me achieve something greater than I was back in my other world- Not to mention the ring.

Yamato, my greatest weapon, is more so a cheat code. One that kind of handled everything for me in the short amount of time I was in this world.

My magical abilities were amazing, even in the more professional manners within this world. I doubt there's anyone who would be able to match me, except for maybe Erylis. At Least in magical finesse that is…

My power is… Struggling, and I needed to fix that. This fight was all the proof I needed for me to know where I stand. There's barely any destructive, heavy hitting force behind my mana. It's like throwing a wet napkin at someone.

For me to even defeat this monster that lies before me with it, was all thanks to my immense physical capabilities.

'... If my magic is this bad, I won't be able to fully come to the apex of this world- Let alone utilize ancient magic to its fullest degree.' I realized. My path as a mage is a long one, I can't deny that.

Sighing and shaking my head to rid myself of these brain frying thoughts, I reached out to Yamato, and with a wiggle, the weapon shot to my hand like a bullet.

That was another one of its unique features. Another is-

CLINK! *

PLAT PLAT! *

My head shot up and towards the door, my hand gripping Yamato tightly. I soon relaxed when I saw that the intruder into the room was none other than the vampire herself, Erylis.

"...Eugh~ That stinks." Not even minding the fact that she's completely naked right now, she walked up to me with a purpose in mind. I eyed her wonderingly.

Her beautiful red ruby eyes landed on mine before she spoke.

"...What's your name?" she asked with a tilt of her head.

A/N!

The ending was really anti-climactic... I know, but I really didn't want to drag this out longer than it was. The chapter was mostly narration anyway...

I'll do better :)

My dialogue needs work. It's very plain, no emotions seemingly envolved...

I will try and work on that.

Anyways, here ya go! Another chapter and with this one I tried something new!

Let me know if I should continue like this or if I should go back to how I was writing before-hand.
