My name is Nancy George but my real name is Star Osilama. My dad is a Nigerian and my mom is an American, "a mixture of two greatness" that's what my dad used to say. My dad was a pharmacist at Roche pharmaceutical Ltd. And my mom, she was a doctor, a neurosurgeon. My parents were my heroes, I wanted to be exactly like them when I grew up. Chapter 8

Listen to Big by Rita Ora ft David Guetta & Imanbek

Shit! It's the subway guy. Oh lord what have I done, I'm never gonna get this job now.

"Well well, if it isn't miss rude". He said with a smirk

"I'm so sorry for the other day, I lost my grandma and was in a mood. I'm not usually like that, I promise". Yes I lied, I can't tell him the truth, that would just lead to more questions and him finding out I'm incompetent is not an option.

"It's okay. I understand but grief is not an excuse for you to be rude and un ruling to people". I was shocked at his words, the irony, coming from a guy that's been making people cry and pissed all day.

I nodded and replied "yes sir".

"Besides I was also wrong, I was on a phone call and didn't quite see you".

"Wow, so you're always on a phone call huh....." I said without thinking. He isn't your friend Nancy, he's your supposed boss you knock head. I sincerely wish I could smack my head right now but I can't. "I'm so sorry, I didn't think the statement through".

"Why"? He asked

"What"? I replied

"Why are you sorry? I'm not your boss yet so you can say whatever you want".

"True, but I want you to be my boss so no thank you".

"Why"? He asked again, a question I found to be very foolish, like get on with the interview, what's up with the small talk.

"Why"? I responded, I really wanted to be sure what the question was, because these rich people like to set traps.

"Why do you want me to be your boss? Nancy why do you want this job"?

I looked at him confused, it was a simple question yes, but a tactical one, I don't want to say the wrong thing and get kicked out of here without getting this job. My head was spiraling, but since I couldn't come up with the smart answer I decided to go with the truth.

"Money".

"Excuse me". He looked surprised

"Money sir". I said again

"I have asked 35 people that question and you're first person responding with the truth". Elaborate please would you". Now I got his attention.

"I have bills to pay sir and this job...." I signed "seems like a dream come true, the pay is good, also I've been looking for something to dedicate my time to, and real estate seems like a really good fit". I have been looking for something to dedicate my time to like revenge on the people who murdered my parents not some real estate bull, yes real estate is bull, they target poor peoples home, demolish it and turn it into a mall the poor can't afford to shop in. I mean if all the cheap apartments are destroyed, where would the minority stay, on the streets that's where.

"Don't get it twisted young lady, real estate is hard and time consuming".

"I don't expect it not to be. It's the future sir, of course it's hard, as my father used to say nothing good comes easy".

"Used to say"? He asked with curiosity

"Yes sir, he's dead".

"And your mom"?

"She's dead too"? I replied

"Oh... I'm really sorry".

"It's okay sir". So you can be sympathetic, nice.

"This job Nancy isn't just for 8 hours. It's whatever hours I spend in the office. If I'm here till 12am, then you're here till 12am. Are you up for that"?

"Yes sir. I'm up for anything".

He gave a half smile and replied "be careful with the anything statement, I could ask you to murder someone".

I didn't know if he was serious or joking so I just stared, then he smiled and I smiled back awkwardly.

"Thank you for your time miss Nancy, that'll be all for today".

"Okay, thank you sir".

I stood up and was two feet from the door when he said.

"Get me a latte, hot, if it's warm you're fired and photocopy this files, I have a meeting in about..." he looked at his watch "20minutes".

I smiled like I won a lottery. "Okay sir I'll do that ASAP".

"Don't make me regret this Nancy, I wouldn't want to have to interview a bunch of people again, it's time consuming and to be honest I hate it".

"Oh you've never been a PA before have you"?

"No sir".

"Well your life is about get miserable". He said with his hands in his pocket and went on to ask "Do you have cats"?

"No sir I don't". All I could think of right now was for him to leave so I could do my happy dance.

"Get some, you're gonna need it". He walked out

Finally I get to do my happy dance, I got the Job! Oh Jesus I love you! I did my dance moves until I was exhausted which wasn't very long, then it dawned on me, the coffee, photocopy, 20minutes.
