Outside The House

In the small shabby wooden house stood a worrisome and stressed mother.

" I should go get a restock." Vivian sighed.

This meant that Vivian had to leave the house to stock up on supplies, mostly food. Little Xavier would see her going but she never once carried him with her. Today was an exception as today would be the first time Xavier ever goes outside as he was already longing to see the outside world because in all the weeks Alex had as Xavier he never once went outside.

" Should I carry the baby with me?" Vivian worried about if it was safe to bring a baby who was barely four months old outside her home.

Xavier tugged her by her shirt. Xavier much wanted to see the outside world.

" Fine, I'll take you." Vivian's concerns were erased from her.

While it seemed like Xavier wanted to erase her stress but truth be told he just wanted to go outside.

' Here I was thinking I wouldn't be able to go outside until I was older!' Xavier felt relieved.

Vivian left her comfy chair near the fireplace where she held Xavier in her arms. With only a few steps, she had already left the living room— it was that small of a room. Vivian then opened the door. A strong wind blew her hair as the door opened. It was a beautiful green sight to behold. Unlike in Alex's world, the trees were unscathed and the grass was tall but still looked beautiful and green. The wind felt real and safe to breathe in. The surroundings were uninhabited with houses and it was peaceful. It was as silent as night-time in broad daylight.

" Is this your first time seeing outside— It's quite beautiful, isn't it?" Vivian smiled and looked at Xavier's dumbfounded facial expression.

Their home was separated from the rest of the town on a hill in the woods so it was quite quiet.

" I hope there aren't any monsters active around here, otherwise that would be a pain." Vivian hoped for the best as walked down the hill. As Vivian walked down the hill she was startled by a Blood Wolf that blocked their path.

" That idiot Feran, he said he cleared the area. Well, there's no use getting on about it now." Vivian sighed.

Vivian then held Xavier with one hand as she freed the other. A gust of wind breezed by as Vivian raised her other hand and did a slash at the air using her palm.

' That's it, which type of spell is this?' Xavier was confused.

The Blood wolf rushed with an incredible speed and as it was closing in it was sliced in half by something invisible to the human eye— perhaps it was the slice from earlier.

" What? Wasn't Mom a healer? And what type of spell was that?" Xavier was surprised by the sudden turn of events— in other words, he didn't expect that to happen.

Vivian did not need a spell for all she did was slice the air. That was how strong her magic aura was. The Blood Wolf was an incredibly strong monster. Those with unrefined Swordsmanship would've been killed in an instant, most needed strong magic spells to pull it off but Vivian— all she did was a slice with no magic behind it. By channeling her mana energy strong enough and releasing it in a stance, she was able to slice the Blood Wolf in half. Her mastery of wind magic was that of excellence. She was a prodigy at both wind and healing magic. Normally, high-level wind magic users are common to people blessed with a high mana capacity, the infamous long-eared ones. Wind Magic was a hard element to master. It could swirl other elements such as fire and water and also the ability to change the direction of another element which only worked for the two elements mentioned before.

" Hmph! To be expected from a high-class mage in both healing and wind magic." Vivian boasted.

' It's not cool to show off to a baby! Though she was pretty strong, then how strong is dad?' Xavier had no idea what one had to accomplish to become a holy knight. A holy knight was a much stronger version of a magic knight.

After Vivian defeated the Blood Wolf, she continued walking. As Vivian walked down the hill with Xavier now held in both hands, they were able to see the town. It was crowded with people. There were mostly unpainted concrete houses and medium-sized wooden houses with unique designs. The stalls sold things like Durian, Bounceberry, Copperberry, Dragonberries, and Throttlevine. It was a group of unusual fruit names to Xavier. This world had fruits and plants from Alex's world and ones only from this world.

" I'll take some dragon berries, they make great wine."

" Very well then." The stall keeper replied.

The stall keeper was an old shady-looking guy, he was malnourished and bald. He wore tattered clothing and his smile looked like that of a guy to kidnap children but he was a great guy at least that was how Xavier saw him.

After buying many things like fruits, boar meat, and wine. Vivian thought it was time to go home. It was already sunset which was around the time Feran came home. Vivian always liked to prepare dinner for whenever he returned home since he would be tired after holding off monsters and bandits the whole day.

" Well then let's return."

After returning home, Xavier now in his crib was bothered by something.

' What is the fastest way to get stronger? Is there a job where I can slay monsters for money? Normally in novels and MMOs, there's something like an adventurers guild where travelers do certain tasks for money, I've seen a weird group of armored and dressed weird guys on the road too, could they also be adventurers? which means until I'm older I can become an adventurer. Dad's a holy knight which is a high-rank magic knight, they mostly fight monsters, bandits, and whatever but I don't want to be some kind of hero or knight. If I want to be an adventurer then I would want to play it solo.'

Xavier had no idea that becoming an adventurer meant that he would have to leave his family at some point in the future. And not only that but adventuring alone is a dead man's wish. Xavier didn't think out things well. Soon, he would realize his mistake.
