1 Chapter 1 - Rebirth

After 9,000 years, the first humans woke up from their inexplicable slumber. Civilization was ruined as the world was asleep. This was a new beginning for mankind, and a new beginning for all life on planet earth.

The first dozen humans who woke up realized that their mental capacity for learning was marginally bigger than before. Now, they could understand the world better with just their minds. Instead of studying for hours, you could train your mind and create miracles without any external help.

After discovering this, the first awakeners started meditating and trying to understand what they could do with this new power. Slowly, other humans started waking up as well, and with the first 20 humans in charge, they started to make sense of how these powers worked. There were different skill sets with some gravitating towards perception and foresight, and some towards telekinetic and telepathic abilities.

The 20 humans quickly realized after a couple years, that the later you woke up, the stronger you were with even better potential compared to those who woke up earlier.

Though the early awakeners had the advantage, it slowly diminished over time.

It seemed that everyone who survived their slumber awoke within 1,000 years of each other, until an anomaly was found 3,000 years after the first person woke up.

Archie woke up floating in the air. His mind was still groggy, but he understood he had been asleep for a long, long while. Though he wasn't conscious, he could still feel his surroundings and the passage of time.

He opened his eyes and saw himself falling down, though it was only from a couple meters. When he landed on his back, he expected himself to be in pain, but it barely felt like a slap.

That's when he started noticing how different he felt.

His thoughts seemed to whizz past at faster speeds than before, and his body was more sturdy, as he deduced from his fall. In a millisecond, he was able to form coherent thoughts.

As he gathered his bearings, he started to notice how lively the world seemed. Instead of the old skyscrapers appearing everywhere he looked, there was more greenery all around him.

Archie had always been an avid enjoyer of nature, and this change was to his liking. The pollution which the world used to house was now nonexistent and the air he was breathing felt pure and more potent.

He stood up but just that movement made him launch a couple feet backwards. His body was way stronger than before. He tried to get used to this new improvement by stretching and using his feet and hands. After a couple minutes, he slowly got used to his new body.

He then started to walk around, looking for any traces of living beings.

When the sun started to set, Archie came upon a river with beautifully landscaped trees all around. With his highly developed perception, he noticed a dozen eyes looking his way. They seemed to be vigilant because of him.

He observed that they were all armed with either spears or swords, of which some were partially glowing with different colored lights.

As he walked over, they moved back so that there was at least a couple meters of distance between them at all times.

"Do you guys speak English?" He asked them.

After getting no response from them, he used his hands, trying to signal to them that he was not hostile, which they seemed to think he was because their spears were still being pointed at him.

The leader of the group said something in a language Archie didn't understand, and they collectively put their weapons away. Warily, one of them approached him, and motioned for him to follow them somewhere.

After following the group of what seemed to be hunters, they came upon a village that had the same river flowing through it in the center.

It seemed lively, with lots of people walking along the streets and talking to each other. The houses were made out of steel and some sturdy looking trees, with a couple buildings standing out near the center of the village.

As he was being led there, he alerted a lot of the people who sensed him, and they seemed to be wary of him even though he looked the same as them.

Then, he understood that it had something to do with his presence being more suppressing than their own. He attempted to lower it and after figuring out how to do it, their vigilance was lowered instantly.

The group stayed back while he was motioned to follow the leader of the group into the house.
