The Beginning

"Wake up Ran, there is something important going on in the news."

I can see my mom's blurry face as she came to wake me up in the morning. I can somehow feel that she is very much worried about something, which somehow startled me since I did not did anything yesterday as much as I remember, everything went normal yesterday.

It is also very unusual for my mom to wake me up since I wake up myself routinely.

"It's just a way for them to attract viewers mom, just leave it be.", I said annoyed whilst feeling sleepy.

"Just wake up.", she said somewhat worried and angry.

Finally, I woke up after hearing my father's and sisters' worried tone. I felt that something must have happened which is worrying all of them simultaneously.

If its just mom, worrying is a normal thing for her due to me and my sister but father very rarely gets worried about things, he prefers to sort things up by beating the hell out of me, rather than worrying himself.

Finally, I got out of my bed feeling soggy.

Well, I don't have a single bed or a personal room, I belong to a somewhat lower-middle-class family with a double bed on which me and my sister sleep, and a double bed in the other room in which my mom and dad sleep.

I can hear that News is now getting played on the Television.

Mom was walking beside me, she asked me slowly if I wanted to have something to eat or drink.

I answered that chocolate milk will suffice for now. She went ahead to prepare it.

Just as I entered the room I saw worried look and furrowed brow of Dad and sis, both were sitting on the bed.

Just as my Father saw me he signaled me to sit down and listen to the News. I went ahead and sat down on the floor my back beside the bed.

"6143 gigantic portals like objects have opened at various places around the earth, scientists all around the world are working together to find out how this happened or what this is.

Currently, no one is able to pass through it. Many countries tried sending drones and other objects inside but every attempt till now has not garnered any result.

From satellite imaging, we found out that these portals have appeared out with even distances around the earth. These portals appeared at 2 am GMT.", the female news reporter said.

"What nonsense.", I said as I took the remote forcefully from my sister's hand and changed to another News channel.

But every news channel was showing the picture of a Giant portal like thing and was saying the same thing.

This made me felt unease.

"It's plain stupid, they got no topic nowadays so they start saying anything, just like they started claiming that the world would be destroyed in December 2012 due to Mayan calendar.", I said somewhat feeling unease, yet trying to find something to escape this truth.

Dad gestured me to stand up and to follow him. I followed him to the gate leading to the balcony, afterward he opened the gate and got out.

Just as I went out, I got a large scare. It felt that I just slept after doing manual labor for two days consecutively but someone did the ice-bucket challenge on me.

I saw a Gigantic portal somewhat far away.

The portal is dark blue in color, it is about 70 percent lying in the air, while the rest 30 percent probably underground.

The portal-like thing was surrounded by tanks and other large missiles. The army has surrounded the portal-like thing completely, making camps around it and being completely active around it.

The portal was vibrating and making *guan* *guan* *guan* voice. Which was barely audible from the distance. The portal was probably 3-4 kilometers away from my house.

I feel scared. I feel unease. I feel angry.

Why? I would have completed my graduation in two years and would have started something by myself to improve me and my family members life.

Why? Why something like this which only happens in movies and novels?

I can't describe the feeling in mere words, it's too unique.

Trying my best to calm myself down as not to worry my family, since I already know that they must be afraid about this just as I am or even more.

The fear of the unknown gripped my heart, I guess my family members were also afraid.

I excused myself and went ahead to start some online research on my own. Fortunately, the internet is still working.

Grabbing the cold chocolate milk I started scrolling the net.

Certainly, I will not be going to college today.

I started doing some personal research about it to ease my mind.

I read many articles, I read everything which caught my eye.

One of the articles which somewhat explained things is;

[As you may know that thousands of portals like objects appeared on earth without any prior warning, everyone is afraid of it whether it is common people or wealthy individuals, everyone is wondering what will happen from now on.

Few people have started claiming this is armageddon, the end of the earth but according to science this is certainly something else, something which has always been difficult for us to understand.

Our universe is roughly 68 percent dark energy, and about 27 percent dark matter while the rest is normal matter. Due to some unseen circumstances, the dark matter is interacting with the matter on earth which has been thought to be impossible before, resulting in these portals like things.

Dark matter has always been the most mysterious, non-interacting substance in the Universe.

Therefore we have no idea what the outcome would be, but it must be something mystic, something arcane.

It may result in the destruction of the world or may make the world something magical, or everything could also stay the same.

But just considering that this is the first time that multiple nations have started working together without any qualms for the survival of humanity.

This itself is a big achievement for us.]

I wrapped reading the articles.

It has already been couple of hours since I woke up. It's about 12;35 pm right now.

One thing I have noticed is that the sound made by the portal is continuously increasing.

Calling my close friends and trying to understand what might happen.

Doing my best to spend time with my family members comforting each other.

Saying each other how much we love each other and that will not change no matter what happens.

But. Everything was answered. All the dreams I had since I was a child, everything changed this day.

At about 3:06 pm GMT time the portal made a loud screeching sound which was slightly irritating but finally, everything stopped.
