1 Rebirth

Robert served as the CEO of a global business corporation. He had earned his success since he had worked his way up the corporate ladder from a lower-level job. He excelled in his field, consistently working long hours and going above and beyond what was required of him. He was admired by his subordinates and appreciated by his coworkers.

Yet, Robert gradually came to understand how much he was missing out on in life. He had lost sight of his personal connections and interests since he had gotten so preoccupied with his profession. He hardly ever took time off to go on vacation or see his loved ones because he was constantly working, constantly on the phone, or responding to emails.

Robert once experienced a revelation. He came to the conclusion that his current manner of life was unsustainable. He desired to discover a more tranquil, straightforward, and fulfilling way of life, as well as to take advantage of all that the world had to offer. He started to put more emphasis on his personal life rather than his career, spending more time with friends and family and discovering new interests.

The company's board of directors became aware of the shift in him. They were concerned that if he stopped giving his all to his work, he wouldn't be able to lead the business efficiently. They came up with a strategy to dispose of him.

Robert was once abducted while he was leaving the office. His captors took him to a far-off place and kept him there. They insisted he stepped down from his role as CEO and departed from the business right now. When Robert refused to accede to their demands, things got out of hand very quickly.

The kidnappers tried to force him. Robert head-butted the kidnapper holding him and attempted to flee from his captors.

He was lost and running through the unknown and dark woods. He was not sure where he was and where he was going.

While Robert was trying to figure out a way to escape.

He was struck from behind by one of the kidnappers who had caught up to him. Rober lost consciousness as he slid to the ground.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in an entirely new environment. Instead of being in his own body, he was in the process of being born as a newborn into a brand-new world. He had been transfered somewhere else and had to start over.

When Robert opened his eyes, he saw something odd. He was in a room and was being held by a man with big, rough hands. This man was tall, strong, and had a rugged appearance. His face was worn from years of arduous labor and exposure to fire and metal. He appeared fierce because of his high brow ridge and square jawline. His eyebrows were bushy, and he had dark brown, almost black eyes. He had a bushy beard that extended over his upper lip and chin, giving him a rougher appearance. His short, close-cropped hair was a dark brown that almost resembled black. His arms were wrapped with big, corded muscles, and he was sporting a leather vest over a cotton shirt. Despite his gruff exterior, he had warmth in his eyes that revealed a rich reservoir of empathy and comprehension.

Tears were streaming from the man's eyes, an unexpected sight for someone with his rugged appearance.

The man noticed the baby looking at him. He raised the baby and turned him towards the bed in the room. There was a woman lying on the bed. Robert assumed that this woman was his mother, and he was awed by her beauty. He had never seen anyone like her before. Her skin was flawless and glowing, and her hair was the color of the sun. She was smiling serenely, and Robert could feel the love and warmth in her eyes as she turned to face him.

The mom glanced at her son with tears running down her cheeks. She appeared as if she was a transparent hologram, and her body was becoming more transparent with the passing of time. Her physical form appeared to be dissipating into the air.

Robert watched her vanish before his eyes. After she disappeared, it felt as if she had never existed, and for some reason, his heart ached.

The man lowered Robert and gave him a tender gaze. He said, "Don't worry, little Yuan." "I'll protect you,"

Robert was terrified and perplexed. He had no idea what was going on or where he was. Even though he tried to call out, all that came out were slender meowing noises. He was scooped up by the man, who held him close while softly massaging his back.

Summer had arrived in the continent of Fengyun, bringing a sense of relief to the villagers. The frigid winter had finally ended, and they could now look forward to bountiful days of warmth and prosperity. Summer was a critical time for everyone, Arcanists, immortals, mortals, and beasts, as it marked a time of renewal and new beginnings.

However, not everyone shared the same sentiment. For the residents of the dark underworld, such as the cave-dwelling demons, summer held little significance. Additionally, snow immortals despised summer with a passion, preferring the icy climate of winter to the unbearable warmth of the warmer seasons.

Nestled amidst a mountain range near the coast, the small village of Jingshui was ruled by Patrician Zhang under the Tian empire. It was a small dot in the vast expanse of mountains that spanned for miles on end. Lord Zhang's fortress was over three hundred kilometers away, and the villagers only interacted with his tax collectors during the harvest season.

Despite their remote location, Patrician Zhang was a fair ruler and taxed the villagers lightly. He only collected the region's specialties, which had little impact on their daily lives. However, if the harvest year was poor, an increase in taxes could have dire consequences.

Living in the mountains was not a bad thing, provided one worked hard all year round. The villagers of Jingshui were resilient and determined, managing to survive and prosper in their secluded corner of the world.

Summer was a time of great hustle and bustle in Fengyun as people prepared for the upcoming harvest and huntsmen set out into the forests to hunt for beasts. Though the beasts were dangerous, they held valuable medicinal properties and glands that could be used to create elixirs, making the hunt worthwhile. The bravery of the huntsmen was lauded, and the Arcane Goddess of the Hunt was one of the most revered of all the arcane gods.

Fengyun itself was a continent ruled by divine powers with a strict hierarchy. Even the remote village of Jingshui had a rich history and its own implicit hierarchy. The villagers respected experts and looked down upon the weak.

As Summer arrived, the winter reserves of food would be depleted, making fresh vegetables, fruits, and meat from the forests an important source of sustenance until the harvest was completed. Fruits and vegetables were easy to find in the forest beside the village. But hunting required skill and effort.

Yuan, now seven years old, walked through the forest path, carrying a large woven basket filled with a bounty of fruits and vegetables he had picked. His black hair was tousled and sweaty from the exertion, and his cheeks were rosy with the heat of the day. He wore a simple tunic made of coarse fabric, which was now stained with dirt and sweat. His hands were rough and calloused from the hard work of gathering produce, but his eyes sparkled with joy and satisfaction at his successful harvest.

Yuan was young, but he was already tall and strong, with a lean, muscular body that showed how strong he was. His face was angular, with a strong jawline and high cheekbones, giving him a mature appearance beyond his years. His eyes were almond-shaped and matched his hair; there was a golden-red hue in them, with a piercing gaze that betrayed his intelligence and curiosity. His nose was straight and well-proportioned, and his lips were full and expressive.

Yuan's skin was tanned and weathered from years spent outdoors, but it still retained a youthful glow. His arms and legs were long and lean, with sinewy muscles rippling beneath his skin as he walked. He moved with a grace and confidence that belied his age, and he seemed completely at ease in the natural world around him.

Four older boys with bows, pitchforks, and daggers passed by him carrying the deer and rabbits they had hunted. Even at a young age, they had already learned the skills necessary to lay traps and catch docile animals from their parents.

As the group of kids made their way through the village, one of them teasingly remarked to Yuan, "You're not much of a hunter, are you? What does your uncle even teach you?"

Wen Yuan simply shrugged, not letting the jab get to him. "My uncle is a blacksmith, not a hunter," he replied calmly.

Another boy chimed in, "Well, that explains it. You're just a vegetable picker, then."

Despite the taunts, Yuan remained composed, continuing on with his wicker basket filled fruits and vegetables. As he approached the entrance of the village, an elderly woman greeted him warmly and offered him a bowl of hot soup.
