The Invitation

"Remember team, we need to use bludgeoning attacks. Swords, bows, and most ordinary magic aren't very useful here."

I was currently in a group of six people (including myself); everyone looked generic, and the only notable thing I could point out was that the leader was riding on a horse. We were currently battling a rock golem. A rock golem is a fairly self-explanatory monster, it's a golem that's made up of rocks. This one, in particular, was maybe 15ft tall, and due to it being made of stone, you either need to bash it until the rocks start to break or use decently high water magic. Luckily its attacks were really easy to dodge due to how slow it moves.

One of the people in the party was currently fighting it by themselves. They specialized in attacks against earth elemental creatures, so their job was to break one of its legs or something so the rest of us could attack it without being in harm's way.

*UGH*

Uh oh, he got hit and was knocked away. The golem turned toward the remaining five of us before taking slow and heavy steps in our direction. Our wonderful party leader made an incredibly brave decision and said…

"Every man for themselves!"

Everyone split away from the group frantically running in all directions. There wasn't much else we could do besides dodge, do a small bit of damage, or get squashed. Thankfully the giant monster wasn't chasing me and was someone else's problem.

Oh, what does brother want?

I looked up, and someone was running toward me with the giant rock monster behind them.

*pant, pant* "OLIVIA! HELP ME!"

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"

"HELP ME!"

"NO NO NO! RUN IN ANY OTHER DIRECTION!"

"PLEEEAAASSEEEE!"

I opened my menu and accepted the invite.

"Nope, bye dude."

"NO! HEL-"

Everything went black and I was removed from the party as I started teleporting.

-Earlier That Day-

"Come on Mike, just let her join until the event is over."

"Why would I do that? I already told you she'll probably try and use us."

"Yeah, but this will be a great chance to show her how great our guild is; and if she knows how much fun being in a guild is, then maybe she will change her mind or something."

"Only until the event is over?"

"Yup, until the event is over."

"…"

"…"

"Alright, fine"

Josh gave a smile and said…

"Nice. Anyway, I've got some stuff to do, so I'll be back later."

As Josh was making his way to the door of the guild master's room, a voice called out.

"Why are you going so far for my sister?"

Josh paused and turned around.

"Hmm?"

"You heard me, why are you going so far to help my sister? You don't even go this far for most people in the guild. I know I asked you to help her, but this is past that."

He didn't sound angry, or mad, or anything really besides curious. He seemed genuinely curious.

I thought for a minute, and I answered him with…

"She's fun to play with."

"…"

"huh"

"Alright, well I'm gonna go now."

"Yeah, just come back in a bit; when I invite her, I'll have you show her around."

Josh waved as he left the room. The door closed and Mike was left alone in the room once again.

"Fun to play with, huh."

-Present Time-

When I came to I found myself in a large well-decorated room. There were couches, plants, windows, and even a chandelier. In the middle of the room, there was a single large desk with two people behind it, my brother and Tonic.

"Hey, sis."

"Brother!"

We exchanged pleasantries for a little bit before I spoke up again.

"This place looks fancy. Wait, if both of you are here, is this the guild? D- does this mean…"

"Yeah, I talked it through and decided to add you as a temporary member. If you want to join that is."

"YES! YES! Of course, I'm gonna join."

"Alright, then I'll send an invite."

A few seconds of silence passed before Olivia said…

"Oh, I think I got it."

[You Have Been Invited to Join - Longevity]

"Longevity? That was the best name you could come up with?"

"Hey, if you don't want to join y-"

[Accept]

"Wait, you said temporary member, right?"

"Yes. There is a big event coming up, and once the event is over, we'll decide whether to add you as a full member or not."

"There's a big event coming up?"

Tonic looked at me and said…

"Do you just not check your news feed or look online or anything? There's going to be a huge war between Wesphuy and Enjuhar."

"THERE IS!? I guess the people in the capital did look like they were getting ready for something big."

Mike interrupted since things seemed to be going off track.

"Alright Olivia, Josh is going to show you around the base. We don't really have rooms for everyone, but you can set a teleport location to the main lobby area if you want."

"Josh?"

"Mike, come on dude."

"Your name is Josh?"

Josh glared at Mike as he mouthed, "I'm sorry."

*sigh* "It's fine. Come on, I'll show you around."

"Okay… Josh."

He shivered for a second. It looked like he got a chill up his spine.

Josh walked to the door, and I followed.
