The Great War Part 1

The sky grew dark, and the streets of Enjuhar were empty. The shop owners were gone, the streets were empty, and even the Adventurer's Guild was closed. The only signs of life that could be seen were children being rushed into their houses by their mothers, and the occasional person peeping through their windows; It looked like a ghost town. Today was the day the war between Enjuhar and Wesphuy began, and if it went poorly, it may also be these citizens' last.

I don't know who it was, but someone was tapping their foot on the ground. We were currently in the lobby of our guild, Longevity, and everyone here was fully armored in their highest-level gear with their helmets off. Literally everyone who was a part of the guild was here; I can't even remember the last time I saw all of our guildmates in one place. I'd say there were maybe twenty people here, and while I did say everyone was here, we were still waiting up on one person.

"Where is he?"

"Shouldn't he be here by now?"

"Come on, we've got less than 10 minutes dude."

Mike hadn't logged on yet, and I'm sure that morale would drop if he didn't. I really hope he gets on quickly, it just won't be the same without him here. I leaned over to Olivia.

"Hey, where's Mike at?"

"I don't know, he's not answering my texts or anything."

*tap tap tap tap tap*

I don't know who, but someone took great annoyance from the constant tapping and spoke up.

"Yo, whoever's tapping, just stop. It's annoying."

"…"

"…"

"…"

*tap tap tap tap tap*

"Where are you at, I'm gonna kick your a-"

A white light appeared at the teleport pad, and a figure walked through it, appearing before us. It was a knight fully clad in magnificent white armor. He was also adorned with a black cape that while long wasn't long enough to step or slip on, and he wielded a white sword that was long, but not long enough to be a great sword. The figure removed his helmet, and it was who everyone in this thought it was, it was Mike.

"Dude, where were you?"

"You were really cutting it close Mike."

"You know the event starts at 4:00, right? It's 3:52!"

Everyone stood up, and it sounded like everyone wanted to talk to Mike. For some of these guys, it had been a few months since I last saw them, so I bet they would love nothing more than to catch up and reminisce with him.

*Cough Cough* "Calm d-" *Cough*

Everyone went silent, and Mike cleared his throat before speaking.

"Well, there's no point in telling you guys to calm down now that everyone's quiet."

Some people in the crowd gave a small chuckle, and Mike found something small to stand on to let everyone see him as he spoke.

"It's great to see everyone here, it's just like old times. When was the last time that everyone in the guild was here? I can't even remember. I've really missed all of you guys. Anyway, listen up, because we are going to war! Today we will fight Wesphuy and completely destroy them! Sure they have some strong people and guilds over there, but that's nothing we can't handle. Is everyone wearing their best armor? Anyone need some potions or something else?"

A few people, mainly those who haven't been here in a while, raised their hands. Mike opened the guild storage and threw a bundle of ten potions to each of them.

"I know that probably won't be enough for the whole event, but that's all I can really offer for you guys."

"…"

"I don't really know what else to say, especially since we still have another few minutes. Uhh… How have you guys been?"

The clamoring in the room started again, and we all chatted for the remaining time we had left.

"Brother is really popular huh."

"Well yeah, he brought us all together. We wouldn't have had nearly as much fun as we did if it wasn't for him and the guild."

Olivia and I looked on as the room of fully armored people gathered around Mike and barraged him with incoherent speaking. I'd be surprised if he could actually hear anyone in all that mess of people.

[2 Minute Until Event Start]

Everyone went silent as they received the message on their HUD. The talking stopped, and everyone put on their helmets and equipped their weapons.

Mike spoke up one last time, saying…

"Let's have some fun guys. For old times' sake."

The room of armored people looked strong enough to put up a really good fight with any guild or boss in the entire game. Well, Olivia was fairly under-armored compared to everyone else, but that's like comparing a rock to a mountain. I mean, her armor was still decent, it's just not as good as ours, but that's to be expected.

I equipped a beautiful necklace. It had a special power that might prove to be useful in the battle, but honestly, I really hope I don't have to use it, I hate using rare one-time items; yeah I'm a hoarder, what of it?

"What's that do?"

I looked over at Olivia as she pointed at my necklace.

"Is it like that necklace from when we killed that dragon?"

"Well, it's special like that necklace, but it won't change my class or anything like that."

I thought about it and eventually reached into my inventory and said…

"Here, take one. It'll probably help you out in this fight."

I pulled out the same exact necklace I was wearing before handing it to her. She refused for a second, but I insisted, and she took it soon after.

"So what does it do?"

[15 Seconds Before Event Start]

"Just put it on and look at it in the equipment menu. I don't have time to explain."
