Boss Battle

The Alpha Wolf roared, and It stood much taller than the other wolves before it, maybe a bit over twice their size. It was a height befitting for the term boss monster.

Olivia and the two other players in her group took up a battle stance in preparation to fight. None of them moved after taking up their stances; maybe they intend to let the wolf make the first move and maybe counterattack or something like that. I get wanting to understand your opponent before making a move, but by doing nothing they're essentially letting the boss get a free hit on them.

The wolf let out a howl before rushing towards Olivia. It was probably going after her because she was a decent distance from the other two players, and therefore an easy target.

As the wolf got closer she swung her sword at it. The wolf slowed down a bit; not much, but just enough for Olivia's attack to fall short and miss. The big attack she did left her wide open for a counterattack from the wolf, and it didn't miss the opportunity. I wish I didn't have to intervene, but I can't just let her die, Mike would probably get mad if I let that happen; I mean, I don't see what the big deal is, it's just a game after all, and the only way you'll get better is through skill which is obtained through trial and error. I wanted to make sure I didn't kill it or deal a lot of damage since a boss like this is a good learning experience, so I picked up a small rock and hurled it at the wolf.

The rock hit the wolf and momentarily stunned it, leaving it wide open for a few seconds. Olivia noticed this and rather than attack retreated to her other party members. The other players didn't really do anything while she was being attacked; one of them was still in a defensive stance, and the other one was trying to use magic, but they kept missing, hitting only two out of five of their [Fire Arrow]'s. They didn't seem to care because they just kept casting the same spell over and over again.

Oh, he stopped casting. Is he out of MP now? What a useless mage, oh there I go again, I need to stop with that kind of thought, they are new to the game after all.

The wolf was no longer stunned and had some scratches on it from the few [Fire Arrow]'s that hit, but it didn't really seem to be that injured. It looked upwards toward the sky and howled; soon after two more wolves joined the battle. When it was howling there was a really good opportunity to attack and get some good damage done, but none of them took advantage of it and rather kept being defensive. They're going to have to take the offensive eventually if they ever plan to beat him.

The three wolves charged them all at once, and both Olivia and the other close combat player blocked both a normal wolf and the boss, even managing to get some good hits in and kill the normal wolf. The last party member, the mage, did nothing and the third wolf ran up to him and began attacking. The mage swung his staff haphazardly missing every swing, and eventually, the wolf finished him and he began vanishing into particles.

"WHY ARENT YOU GUYS PROTECTING ME!? IM THE SUPPORT!"

The mage pleaded, but it didn't matter as it was too late. Luckily that gave Olivia and the other party member some time to finish off the last normal wolf and focus their full attention on the boss. If the fight lasted for more than a minute and a half they could revive the Mage; the respawn time being over a minute long may sound cruel, but it gives everyone a chance to sit down and take a short break before fighting again. There's no point in respawning if you're completely exhausted and can't fight.

From the looks of it, the wolf seemed to have maybe half of its HP left. They still had a lot of damage to do, and I'm not sure how they plan on doing it. Olivia was talking to the other person; maybe she has a plan of some sort. Too bad I can't hear them from here.

The teammate rushed forward and took a defensive stance again. The wolf quickly approached him and opened its mouth wide. Is he going to block it, maybe stab it in the mouth, dodge? Nope, the wolf closed its mouth on him and started eating him. Olivia took this chance to do a lot of damage. I don't know if her plan was to sacrifice her remaining team member to maybe finish killing the wolf or something like that. Since most people won't just go ahead and sacrifice themselves, she probably told him something else, but from my view, it looks like she just threw away her last teammate.

The wolf finished eating the person and turned its gaze on Olivia. Without a group of people, the boss battle will surely become extremely difficult. I guess I have to step in. It's sad because they had a perfect chemistry of classes, but just didn't use them right. Olivia should have run in and dealt damage when safe to do so while the other guy protected the mage who would cast offensive spells that either had a high chance of hitting or used a small amount of MP. I started walking towards her, but before I got there, she was hurling everything she had at the wolf. Sword, apples, cheese, lockpicks, everything she had she was throwing at the wolf.

I stopped moving closer and just watched in amazement as Olivia hurled food, weapons, and miscellaneous objects at the wolf in hopes of doing more damage. Apple, apple, apple, rock, cheese, rock, apple; it just wouldn't stop. How much of her inventory was taken up by apples, cheese, and rocks?

The wolf got mad and began moving closer, but the barrage didn't stop. When the wolf got within 10ft of her, I threw another small rock at it, and the wolf just stopped moving before falling over and vanishing into particles.

She cheered before running over to me and saying, "Did you see that? That was awesome!"

"umm... yeah, anyway let's finish the quest"

"Oh, yeah, of course. But first, have you seen my sword?"

"It probably despawned because of how many things you threw."

"WAAAAAA?!?!"

"Bu- bu- but how am I supposed to fight without a weapon?"

"Well, I guess you can just throw apples or punch them with your fists or something."

We walked into the cave and grabbed the materials that were requested of us. We didn't face any opposition in the cave; so that made it pretty easy to just grab the materials. We then started making our way back to the town.
