Peace And Fate

We had been good friends ever since were young. Friends that hated the worlds and the Iris together. It was an unfair system. A creature's worth is determined by birth.

He possessed the power to stop a war without giving results. It was unneeded in a decisive war that has spanned for millennia. It would be a disgrace to the losses to stop the war at this point.

On the other hand, I possessed the power to exert limited control over fate in exchange for an immense amount of sacrifices. The control was insignificant compared to the sacrifices made.

We were neglected by the "Light" together. The Tyrant faction didn't wish to help us who spent their entire lives in the Light faction.

We decided. To eradicate the factions and the unfair Iris, together.

His plan was imperfect. It was a plan impossible by either of us, but he made it possible. He perfected it through the last shard that he needed, the true body of an angel!

A true angel has enough of the Tyrant's power inside them. It would only be a matter of time before 'that' is summoned.

I wasn't sure why he wanted me to use some of the souls he worked hard on rearing as sacrifice. My only choice was to blindly trust him, that was what was written on my fate.

The angel of fate blindly following fate would sure sound funny. I was only the 'angel of fate' for the name. The fate of fate lay in the hands of something much incomprehensible. I was merely able to meddle with it a bit.

I was given a simple task of bringing a certain runaway angel to ruin. Had she been a true angel, I couldn't have meddled with her fate. Luckily, she was just the remnants of her true self's consciousness. She was no different from a ghost.

I never knew I would be cruel enough to enjoy watching something nearing its destruction for which I would be an indirect reason. Thinking about how many innocent people would be subject to suffering stirred a bit of guilt inside me.

The angel's world sure was small and primitive. With the angel gone, her world had no defenders, or at least that was what I thought. Some random organization popped up out of nowhere, calling themselves the apostles. Yet, they were weak. Even someone that has no experience in battle like me could take on two of them at once.

I wondered why he asked me to destroy such a small and insignificant world. However, all I knew was that he had better brains than that of mine. I chose to believe in fate over logic. While I might sound like a blind, superstitious man, it is but an undeniable truth.

I decided to enjoy myself toying with that insignificant world instead of destroying it entirely. It had a harsh fate awaiting it. Speeding up the fate slightly would be enough to cause irrecoverable damage. How ironic, isn't it? I never knew I could enjoy something I feel guilty about.

It was as easy as I had thought. However, the apostles were an eyesore. I had to use additional souls in order to make them fall as well. Before I knew it, I was carelessly spending souls of the highest quality. It figured it would be worth it if I could get my hands on the apostles' souls.

Everything went as expected. Even the apostles were nothing compared to my mastery over fate. It was the unfair gap in the ability of a human and an angel. There was however, an anomaly. A single apostle managed to free themselves from my control. More like, they were never affected. Was this something of a remnant of that angel's power?

It was pointless to even think about it. If I couldn't control them, I decided that I might as well erase them.

Just then, I heard a ring.

"What's it?"

"Yes it was successful. There was a weird occurrence though."

"There was someone that resisted the 'control' among the apostles."

"Yeah I get that but-"

"Its not as easy as you think!"

"This may be a small sacrifice for the future, but controlling 'them' would use up even more souls!"

"Okay I will try my best. I don't think they would fall for something like a pseudo-angel though."

"Yes yes I understand."

"Send me the package by tonight."

"I get it. Bye."

I hung up on him. He wasn't wrong. If someone powerful enough to resist my control exists among the apostles, even angels cannot do a thing to them. I needed 'their' help even if it means sacrificing more souls.

I temporarily paused my plan and proceeded to make 'them' my pawns.

Before you ask, yes this is a side story.
