1 Prelude of a new Era

As dark clouds covers the sky, an earthquake at the level in which mankind has never experience before shook the entire planet earth. The quake which last over an hour took the lives of millions

Skyscraper had collapsed, aeroplanes had crashed, vessels sunk and car crash of different calibers had occurred all over the world. As if that wasn't enough, cracks in space started to appear in multiple locations all around the globe.

And through it, monsters only seen in movies, anime, games and novels poured in into earth from another dimension, killing and destroying everything in their path, bringing chaos and calamity to the once peaceful planet.

Jack, an 18 years old freshman of the university of calabar in the country called Nigeria had followed his classmates who were also freshers on a field trip around the city of calabar.

They were on their way to a once exceptional tourist center at the outskirts of the city when it all started. The earthquake then cause the driver to lose control of the school bus and crash it into a tree.

The impact of the crash had cause Jack to hit his head on the back of a seat and pass out. Jack was slowly regaining consciousness after an hour of being unconscious when a frightful scream force him awake "arhhhh"

Ignoring the pains he was feeling all over his body, Jack forcefully dragged himself out of the wreckage and traced the source of the scream.

Two humanoid creatures about 3 feet in height with rough green skin, pointed ears, claws and fangs were feeding on what seems to be the corpse of a classmate. Terror like Jack had never felt before over took his body and without any second thoughts, he turned and fled.

Unfortunately for Jack, the two creatures had already noticed his presence but luckily for him, only one showed interest and gave Chase as the other one was too greed to stop feeding.

" A goblin, a fucken goblin, how the hell did a goblin appear in reality, that's scientifically not possible " Jack thoughts were in a mess as he hid himself behind the tree the school bus had crashed into.

" Grhh! tap! tap! tap! " the voice and footsteps of a goblin coming closer was heard by Jack causing him to freeze in fear. " fight or run, fight or run, fight or run " Jack thoughts were once again in a mess stucked between fighting or running.

As the goblin got closer, Jack who was confused on what to do slowly smiled ss he made up his mind on what to do. Bam! A heavy stone landed on the goblin face while it attempted to peep behind the tree Jack hiding.

Without giving the goblin time to recover, he rushed at the goblin and kicked it, causing it to fall to the ground. climbing on top of the goblin, he continuously attacked it with the stone in his hand.

Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Jack was in a frenzy as he delivered series upon series of attacks, causing him not to notice the dead of the goblin but instantly he stopped when he heard a feminine voice in his head

While Jack was still stunned about the voice he had just heard in his head, a holographic interface popped up in front of him scaring him a bit which later changed to happiness after he understood what was displayed on it.

Cleaning his eyes over and over again to be sure that he wasn't seeing things Jack was able to confirm that he could now view his status. " Makes me wonder what will happen if it's not just me but all of mankind that becomes able to view their status " said Jack while rubbing his chin lost in thoughts.

While Jack may not have been the brightest, he was extremely quick witted and staring at the interface which showed his status, he could easily guess that the world would undergo a great change if that happens.

And that such a change would create a world ruled only by the strong, following the laws of the jungle. Although there exist a possibility of Jack guess being wrong he didn't intend on ignoring the possibility of it being true.

Staring at his status window, Jack understood most of it, although he had no idea what Tier and Designation stood for he understood what each attribute stood for and these were.

Strength represented the body physical power, ability to resist force and hold weight. Agility represented the body ability to move quickly and easily, also its nimbleness. Constitution represented the body system which is it ability to endure pains, its sturdiness and vitality. Stamina represented the body physical and mental energy. perception represented the body five senses and also the fable sixth sense. Mana represented magic power and its total amount.

Since he didn't find anything related to level, Jack knew that he couldn't get stronger by just killing more monsters unlike in the ' RPG ' games he had played. While Jack was racking his brain on possible ways to increase his attributes points, he caught sight of a shining purple object embedded in the middle of the goblin corpse chest.

Jack was a little taken back by the appearance of this object as he knew it didn't exist while the goblin was still alive. picking it up, he noticed two peculiar things about this bean size purple shining object.

It wasn't as hard as it looked and it also gave out a fragrant and appetizing aroma. While Jack was still at lost about the nature of such an object and its uses, he suddenly became over taken by an irresistible urge to eat it and without any resistance, he swallowed it.

Jack felt the entire world slow down and zoomed in before returning back to normal. Although he was confused about what just happened, he didn't bother to think about it since he was still panicking about swallowing something he picked up from the body of a corpse

Touching his body all over to confirm if he is alright after beating his chest a couple of times to force out the purple object but not succeeding, Jack suddenly had an epiphany and shouted " status " inwardly, causing the status window to once again appear in front of him.

Jack felt elated as he discovered the change in his perception attribute, he also now understood why the entire world slowed down and zoomed in before returning back to normal earlier. After focusing a little bit, Jack felt the changes in his sense.

He could now spot an ant moving on the ground about 6 meters away but was not all, his sense of smell and hearing had also improved. Remembering the existence of the second goblin which was still feeding on his classmate corpse, a smile slowly appeared on Jack face.
