2 YOU AND ME

This kind of smoke has a dispersing effect on zombies, crucial for survival in critical moments. However, Clark, now also a zombie, couldn't bear the smell either!

The two zombies, who were just moments ago trying to tear Olivia Turner into pieces, became restless upon smelling the green gas. In just a few breaths, they knelt down and started vomiting green substances, struggling to crawl out but seeming unable to control their limbs.

Clark also felt weak in the legs. If he hadn't held his breath from the beginning, he might have been in a similar state as them now.

"Now's the time, quickly follow me!" Clark shouted, pressing the elevator button to signal Olivia Turner to hurry.

Olivia Turner hesitated, wondering if she should follow this zombie. But just a moment ago, he saved her life!

After some hesitation, Olivia Turner entered the elevator.

Inside the elevator, Olivia Turner pressed herself against the corner, maintaining the maximum distance from Clark. At the same time, she tightly clenched her hands, ready to fight desperately. Although she couldn't understand what the green gas Clark released was, it clearly had a restraining effect on the zombies, and perhaps he could indeed save her.

"What's going on with these zombies? Are there other living people besides you?" Clark urgently wanted to understand what had happened to the world.

"A month ago, a small asteroid fell to Earth, and then those zombies you saw appeared. They ate all the non-mutated people. Everyone was fleeing, but there was no escape. No matter where you hid, they would eventually find you. I've been here for several days..." Olivia Turner explained, but her stomach growled.

"You haven't eaten anything?" Clark asked.

Olivia Turner shook her head, and her pale face said it all.

"Wait a minute, a month ago? Why haven't I heard this news? What's the date today?" Clark inquired.

"September 22, 2050," Olivia Turner answered.

"Thirty years later?" Clark suddenly felt overwhelmed. How did he wake up thirty years into the future, encountering such bizarre events after a night's sleep?

However, something seemed off. The time was thirty years later, but everything was exactly the same as in his memory from last night!

The elevator had now reached the first floor, the doors opened, and hundreds of zombies saw Olivia Turner, immediately surrounding them.

Olivia Turner screamed in fear, attracting even more zombies.

Zombies from other blocks ran over, creating a dense crowd that enclosed Clark and Olivia Turner.

At this moment, the two of them were like trapped animals, waiting to be torn into pieces by these zombies.

"We're done. What should we do?" Clark felt a chill in his heart. He had just saved a beautiful woman, and now it had led to such trouble!

"System, what about these? Am I going to die here?" Clark anxiously asked.

"Host can use the Zombie Dispersal Smoke two more times. The smoke has a large diffusion area, enough to deal with these zombies!" the system suggested.

Clark was somewhat skeptical, looking at Olivia Turner, who was on the verge of tears. He gritted his teeth.

"Cover your mouth and nose when it happens, and follow me!" Clark said. Then, his stomach inflated again, more exaggerated than before.

Olivia Turner looked at Clark in disbelief, understanding what he was about to do. She quickly covered her mouth and nose.

Although the smoke had already proven effective only against zombies, the smell was indeed unpleasant!

"Bang!" A muffled sound, and the green gas spread out in a wave, centered around Clark.

Wherever the gas reached, all the zombies fell to the ground, limbs convulsing, foaming at the mouth, in extreme discomfort.

"Run!" Clark grabbed Olivia Turner and ran outside.

Initially resistant, Olivia Turner felt awkward being held by Clark. But survival was the top priority, and she couldn't care about it now.

The two ran wildly, covering several blocks in one go.

"Now what, System? I've saved the person. You can't just leave us to our fate!" Clark urgently asked.

Behind them, many zombies were still chasing.

"You have to cohabit with her and gain her favor," the system calmly stated.

"Cohabit? Are you kidding me?" Clark just wanted to curse. How could Olivia Turner be willing to cohabit with him in his current state, let alone gain favor?

"After gaining her favor, your appearance will gradually change, and eventually..." The system's explanation was cut off by Clark.

"Alright, alright, whatever you say is whatever. Now, where should we run? Give us a solution!" Clark was more focused on escaping and didn't have time to think about it.

"There's a two-story building ahead. Shake off those zombies, get inside, and close the door," the system calmly suggested.

Clark felt a headache. Was this really going to work? But there was no time to think. After running for a while, they did find a two-story wooden building. Clark pulled Olivia Turner inside and quickly closed the door.

"Are you crazy? Isn't this waiting for the zombies to surround us?" Olivia Turner couldn't understand why Clark would make such a foolish decision and tried to open the door to continue running.

Without explaining, Clark pulled Olivia Turner and gestured for her not to make any noise.

The zombies that were chasing them a moment ago passed by the small building without stopping, heading straight for their previous direction.

Both of them finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness the system didn't lie to me," Clark said, feeling weak in the legs. From waking up until now, he had been in constant motion. He was starving, and his stomach had been growling for a while.

Frightened, Olivia Turner moved away, afraid that Clark, in his hungry state, would eat her.

"What do we do next?" Olivia Turner asked nervously.

"You have to live with me," Clark said without hesitation.

"I absolutely won't!" Olivia Turner, hearing this, showed anger on her face. She went to the door, reaching out to open it, completely ignoring the zombies still wandering outside.

"You are out of your mind!" Clark hurriedly grabbed Olivia Turner. Going outside now would mean both of them would be finished. But survival was more important than her finding him ugly. Clark used his body to block the door and stared at Olivia Turner.

Although she had been terrified facing the zombie horde a moment ago, surprisingly, she wasn't that afraid of Clark.

"I don't want to die, but I'd rather not be with you. You might be worse than those outside!" Olivia Turner boldly stated.

Clark was speechless. What was going on in this woman's mind? Having been a single guy before, with little experience with women, how was he supposed to persuade her now?

"What do we do now?" Clark anxiously asked the system.

"Figure it out yourself!" The system remained silent for a moment, offering only this response.

Alright, fine. Blame it on me.

"Then tell me, why don't the zombies come in when we enter this house?" Clark inquired.

"Those outside are just level-one zombies, the most numerous but lacking intelligence. They only chase after living and moving objects. Once the target disappears from their sight, they aimlessly roam around."

"Does that mean there are higher-level ones?"

The system didn't respond further, leaving Clark waiting in vain.

"Think it over. Going out there means getting torn to pieces. You might even end up looking like them. Stay inside the house, and I'll keep my distance. Alright?" Clark said seriously.

If Olivia Turner didn't listen even to this, there was nothing he could do.

Olivia Turner looked outside, then at Clark, hesitated for a moment, and said, "If you dare to do anything, I'll..."

She didn't finish her sentence. Instead, she turned around and ran upstairs.
