30 Despicable

After returning to the fortress, Emma Kensington faced two choices. Since all her team members had perished, she could either choose new members to form a new squad or join another squad as a regular member.

Michael was the first to extend an invitation to her, but she directly declined. Emma Kensington's decision was peculiar – she retained her position as captain but became the sole member of her small squad. This would undoubtedly put a heavy burden on her, as she would have to handle all tasks alone.

Emma Kensington's expression remained relaxed, as if today's events had nothing to do with her. She just needed to stand in her usual position. However, upon closer inspection, one would notice that she carried almost fixed equipment today – her entire body was armed.

Time quickly passed, and Clark was pushed out. A temporary execution platform had been set up.

"Don't worry, after you die, I'll throw your body out to feed the zombies. It won't be wasted," Mad Dog whispered to Clark. He was in charge of this beheading, ensuring the entire process went smoothly, standing by Clark's side.

At this moment, Clark's hands were tied behind his back with iron chains, rendering him immobile.

When the crowd saw Clark coming out, they immediately began to clamor.

"Shut up, all of you!" Mad Dog shouted, "This person stole everyone's food, left everyone starving, violated the Alliance's rules, and committed heinous crimes. Today, he must die here. Does anyone have any objections?"

Mad Dog shouted loudly. This wasn't the first time he had done something like this, but he always asked, even though he knew no one dared to voice objections. This kind of oppressive momentum made him feel very comfortable, as if at this moment, he was the most powerful person in the fortress.

"I object!"

Unexpectedly, someone from the crowd stepped forward and shouted loudly. It was Thomas, walking out. At this moment, he wore the Alliance captain's uniform, but it was full of holes, as if he had been through a life-and-death battle.

"Damn, you are..." Mad Dog had actually recognized Thomas's identity, but he dared not say it out loud, considering Charles.

"Humph, he shouldn't die. What should die is all of you, and Charles, this scum!" Thomas shouted loudly, "The Alliance's purpose is to care for the surviving people, to strive for everyone's survival. However, after Charles took over this fortress, he turned it more and more into his private territory, ruthlessly tormenting and oppressing everyone!"

"Whether everyone in the fortress can eat enough, whether all the women are treated as resources for exchange – all decided by him. Do you still want to live in these inhuman days?" Thomas angrily yelled.

"Seize him, quickly!" Mad Dog shouted directly.

Under the influence of Thomas's words, the crowd had started to become restless.

Some Alliance soldiers tried to rush forward to grab Thomas, but a nimble figure stopped them.

"Emma Kensington, what are you doing?"

Emma Kensington stood in front of Thomas, smiling, "I think what he said is the truth, so you can't touch him!"

"Thank you!" Thomas nodded.

It was truly not easy for someone to come forward at this moment.

"Captain, I never thought I would see you again." Emma Kensington turned her back to Thomas, tears streaming down her eyes.

"Emma Kensington, as the captain of the Alliance squad, betraying the Alliance results in immediate execution!" Charles declared e motionlessly, but at this moment, he tightly gripped the chair.

"What a joke. Everyone rise up against this inhuman guy!" Thomas roared. His people rushed from all directions, surrounding the harbor.

There was still a noticeable gap in strength between the two sides. Judging from their weapons and equipment, Thomas's group had damaged weapons, as if they were picked up from a battlefield.

"Naive, you think you've won!" Charles sneered.

Suddenly, on the water surface of the harbor, several large bubbles emerged, breaking the strange calm.

A steel battleship surfaced from below, its cannons all aimed at the Alliance base.

Ready to fire!

"Charles, surrender!" Joseph shouted loudly from the Ark, his voice echoing throughout the fortress.

"Well done!" Clark applauded. His plan was to let both sides engage directly. Although the strength was unequal, with all the people in the fortress, the situation would turn around. The Ark was there to reassure everyone!

Joseph's shout had an effect; the crowd began to stir. Those who were not resisting or hiding on the side started to rebel.

Thomas's group had gained an invisible advantage in momentum.

"You scoundrel!" Mad Dog continued to shout, but after a few yells, he took a heavy punch to the back, directly falling to the ground, screaming in pain.

"How dare you!" When he saw the person who had attacked him, he became even angrier.

"He he, my hand slipped a bit, sorry." Michael held a gun, a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He took a drag, smiling, but the gun was aimed at Mad Dog, and his finger deliberately moved on the trigger.

Mad Dog immediately dared not speak.

"Go help Emma Kensington!" Michael whispered.

Without causing any contradiction immediately ran to Emma Kensington's side, holding a gun and confronting other Alliance soldiers.

More and more Alliance soldiers turned against their own, standing on Emma Kensington's side.

"Don't mess this up, I can't afford to lose this round!" Michael muttered.

The situation became chaotic, but there was no large-scale fighting. Neither side wanted significant casualties.

Click, click, click!

Around the Alliance base, several copper walls quickly rose, enclosing the base like a miniature fortress.

"If you have the guts, fire. The artillery will directly demolish the entire fortress. In that case, I'll be the last to die, and everyone else will be cannon fodder. You better think it through!" Charles shouted hysterically from inside the base.

He was well aware of his current situation, but he couldn't afford to lose, and he dared not go out. He couldn't bear to imagine the miserable fate awaiting him once he was captured.

He regretted his arrogance. If he had eliminated these guys earlier, wouldn't it be much better?

But now it was too late!

"Despicable!"

"He wants everyone to be buried with him!"

The crowd became furious, and Charles's actions were like a spark falling into gasoline, igniting everyone's anger.

Even the hesitant Alliance soldiers gave up resistance. Even if they didn't join Emma Kensington and Thomas in rebellion, they wouldn't support Charles anymore.

"You're finished, give up!" Olivia Turner said coldly.

"Shut up, do you think it's over just like this? You underestimate me!" Charles's face twisted, and the current situation had indeed surpassed his expectations.
