1 Apocalypse Beauty Rescuer

Everland City, the old city's shantytown.

Clark felt his head heavy, and the sunlight shining in was too bright for him to open his eyes. He put his hand on his head, but something felt off. Why did it feel like he was touching parchment, and some areas were damp?

"No, why does it smell so bad?" Clark sat up in shock. Everything in front of him left him speechless.

He lay outside a building, surrounded by hundreds of decomposed, foul-smelling zombies aimlessly wandering around him.

"Oh my god!"

Clark shouted, immediately attracting the attention of all the zombies. However, they just glanced at him and walked away.

"What's going on?" Clark was shocked. He thought he was doomed, but nothing happened?

He stood up and looked at his reflection in the glass, nearly passing out from fright. He was now a zombie too!

It must be a nightmare. It'll be fine when he wakes up!

Clark lay down again, closed his eyes, and tried to sleep it off.

"Apocalypse Beauty Rescuer System activated!" A somewhat feminine voice echoed in his mind.

"Who?"

Clark opened his eyes, finding no one around except for the zombies. Confirming this wasn't a dream, he exclaimed, "System? Am I saved?"

He suddenly realized this was a common plot in many novels.

"Surprisingly, you have a golden finger. Quickly tell me, what are my abilities? Are they amazing or not?" Clark was excited, not as scared as before.

"Find the system-assigned beautiful women, rescue them, and receive corresponding rewards for completing each task!" The system responded emotionlessly.

What kind of system was this? Clark never dreamed that the system would be so bizarre, forcing him to rescue beautiful women without mentioning the rewards. Would he end up at a disadvantage?

While he was still contemplating, the system prompted again, "23rd floor of this building, there's a beautiful woman in danger, hurry to the rescue!"

"So soon?" Clark hadn't decided whether to rescue the person or not, and the system assigned the task.

He's in! He couldn't just stand by and watch someone in danger, especially a beautiful woman!

Clark entered the building directly, encountering numerous zombies inside, but they treated him as one of their own and didn't impede him. The elevator was open but stationary. Did the zombies lack intelligence? Were they incapable of using the elevator?

The elevator doors opened, disturbing some zombies. Clark quickly entered and closed the door, realizing that zombies were highly sensitive to noise.

Clark rode the elevator directly to the 23rd floor. This floor was all office spaces, and each room was in disarray, as if it had experienced a massacre. There were straight black bloodstains on the floor, and dried blood handprints in the hallway.

"Is anyone here?" Clark shouted in the corridor.

No response.

Unusually quiet.

"System, are you mistaken? There's no one here!" Clark looked around; this place must have been attacked by zombies, and there couldn't be any survivors!

Just as he turned to leave, a mineral water bottle rolled out from a nearby office.

Was it the wind that blew it over?

Clark looked around but still saw no one. However, the bottle couldn't have appeared out of thin air!

He walked towards the office.

"Is anyone inside?" Clark asked again in a low voice.

"Who... who are you?" A very light voice came from deep inside the office, intermittent, as if the person speaking was trembling.

"I'm here to save you!" Clark spoke directly, feeling somewhat excited. This was the first person he had encountered since waking up, and she was recognized as a beauty by the system. Later, he would definitely have to find out what had happened.

"Come out; it's safe here!" Clark had already surveyed the entire floor and found no zombies.

Upon hearing this, there was movement inside the office. Slowly, a young beauty wearing a blue top and black skirt cautiously stepped out. She had long, black hair that partially covered her face, but even so, Clark could still see that she was beautiful.

But when she saw Clark, Olivia Turner screamed.

"You're a zombie!"

Then, she tried to retreat to her previous hiding spot. However, she had already exposed herself, and hiding again would be of no use. Olivia Turner trembled, picking up a chair and holding it in front of her. At this point, her body trembled even more violently.

She was afraid Clark would pounce on her and eat her!

"Don't be afraid of me!" Clark finally realized his current appearance. If she wasn't scared, that would be strange. So, he quickly explained, "Listen to me, I don't know what happened. I woke up like this..."

But before he could finish his sentence, Olivia Turner screamed again, looking fearfully behind Clark. When he turned around, he saw two young male zombie figures had appeared silently behind him, mouths open, drooling, and staring at Olivia Turner with red eyes.

"It's not my doing," Clark muttered to himself, but no one paid attention.

The two zombies had already bypassed Clark and rushed towards Olivia Turner. Terrified, she cried, frantically waving the chair, but it seemed futile. In a few breaths, the zombies would catch her!

"F*** it, let's do it!" Clark was also startled at this moment. Saying he wasn't scared was false; he wanted to escape himself. However, looking at Olivia Turner, he couldn't bear it. If he left, she would undoubtedly be eaten by the zombies!

He picked up a chair and smashed it towards one zombie's head.

"Bang!" A muffled sound.

The zombie's head burst open, and brain matter spilled out.

"Got rid of one!" Clark thought he had successfully dealt with one zombie, but he was wrong. The zombie with its head smashed open turned around and pounced on him. Moreover, its previously smashed head quickly healed.

At the same time, another zombie changed its target and stumbled towards Clark!

"Even this won't kill them!" Clark hadn't expected it to turn out like this. Cold sweat streamed down his face, and he thought to himself, it seems that these guys, when faced with an attack, don't care if you're one of them or not; they only know slaughter, and they can't be killed. What should he do?

"I'll distract them; you run!" Clark lifted the chair and charged at the two zombies again, while telling Olivia Turner to save herself. At least one of them should survive!

Olivia Turner was stunned, evidently not expecting that a zombie would actually try to save her.

Clark also didn't anticipate that he couldn't withstand the attacks of two zombies. In a few moves, they pounced on him, tearing off several chunks of flesh. Strangely, he didn't feel pain; he only felt numb.

"Ding, the system detects the host encountering difficulties in rescuing the beauty. The first reward is issued in advance!" At this moment, the system's voice rang out again.

Olivia Turner could have taken the opportunity to escape while Clark was entangled with the two zombies, but she didn't. Instead, she lifted a chair and fiercely smashed it against one of the zombies that was biting Clark.

The zombie stopped biting Clark, turned towards Olivia Turner, and charged at her.

"System reward: Zombie Dispersal Smoke. It can be used three times in total. The usage method is as follows..." Meanwhile, in Clark's mind, the system had already delivered the reward and provided instructions on how to use it.

Olivia Turner felt some regret. Why did she risk her life to save a zombie?

"Cover your nose!" Just as the two zombies were about to pounce on Olivia Turner, Clark shouted.

His stomach inflated like a massive balloon, and then, with a loud bang, a green gas escaped from behind him, quickly filling the entire office.

"What's this smell!" Clark, smelling the gas, instantly had the urge to die.
