Infected Snow

Kai didn't change back the furniture but took back most ingredients into the space since no one is around to eat it now. He only eats breakfast and has not interest starting to eat more now.

"Huo Jun, may I help you with something? I thought you will sent the other guy?" Kai saw Huo standing by the door with an older version of himself. He sighed the genes in this family are really good.

"I am not going to like this little visit am I?" He looked at the unfriendly old man.

"Young man, are you going to invite us in?" Huo Guo asked Kai. 

"I don't like your breath old man." Kai didn't allow them in. He stood in the middle of the door. 

"Why?" The old man seemed amused by this.

"It reeks of treachery." Kai looked him in the eyes folding his arms. 

"That is still no excuse to be rude and keep me outside." Huo Guo challenged. 

"Perhaps." Kai still didn't move. 

"Young cubs are really fearless." He said clicking his tongue.

"Kai, he is my dad. Can you show him some hospitality?" Huo Jun has only seen Kai talk like that to his butler and he assumed he did it because of his status as a servant. He was wrong apparently.

"I can see that. Did you know that your father is not a good man?" Kai asked Huo Jun.

"I know. He is still my father."

"Whatever. If he tries anything while in my home. I will turn him into a giant ball of hot soup." Kai smiled sweetly at the old man giving him the chills.

Kai went to get them two cans of cola. Seeing this, Huo Jun is not pleased because he wanted to show his father the superior spirit food Kai has. It seems Kai really doesn't like his father.

"I want to enlist you to make 20 flying swords for me. For a fee of course." Huo father didn't touch the cola and just started talking. 

"This is why you came all this way?" Kai frowned.

"I didn't want you to refuse." Huo Guo said. 

"Haha...if I don't want to agree to your request, your presence won't sway me. In fact, you being here is not ideal." Kai rolled his eyes.

"You will respect me young man. I am...."

"I want 4 of the sacks he used to bring ore here the other day full of wenghu ore as payment. You will provide the blueprints and materials. I will email the materials list to your son a few minutes after you leave." Kai interrupted the man and stood up to open the door. This man has the most disgusting breath he has smelled so far.

"That is all your requirements?"

"Don't get too happy I still have no idea how to refine swords so I will be learning for a few weeks. And you will only get 10, give me that look and I'll make it five." Kai said without any apologies. 

Huo Jun has never seen anyone treat his father like that and live to tell about it. He became more impressed with Kai and secretly paid more attention to him. The fact that he is the only one Kai treat differently secretly delights Huo Jun.

Kai saw them out and went to study the refinement method. He didn't even have to ask for the information from his invisible helper. He found the book on the table in his study. Smiling Kai started reading. 

Over time he is comforted by the fact there is someone who is always with him. This is probably why he did not lose his mind when the Wang family betrayed him. He has never been alone. 

Kai stayed inside the space to extend the time for learning, after reaching foundation establishment the time inside has increased, one day is a week inside.

Meanwhile the outside world experiences a great change. After two weeks of hot weather, a snow started falling one night. People were thrilled.

Children and some adults went outside to play with the snow. The first day was very special and everyone had a good time. But the snow didn't improve the lives of the people in any way. Instead of the heat, now they are cold and shivering.

Electricity is gone, gas has mostly run out and food prices have become ridiculously high. A simple loaf of bread can sell for 1600 us dollars. The people soon realized the hard times are not over, people who had played in the snow got sick. They were sick just like the previous time. 

Huo Jun even came by Kai's villa to ask him for the medicine but no one answered the door and the Huo family had to release a statement saying there is no medication this time. Another week went by and people became desperate. The food has become even more scarce, crime is at all times high.

Some of the people who had gotten sick died and the world mourned and another round of suffering took place. The living are dying from hunger, thirst and sadness. The government kept trying to find Kai so he can offer them solution on the energy and water problem. 

When Kai emerged from seclusion it has been almost a year inside his space. Kai had made his flying sword and it is magnificent. The sword can retract and enlarge in shape and size, Kai had finally mastered the essence of forging. As soon as he had finished making the flying sword he was gifted a sword technique by his invisible helper. 

When the home system told him about the government's visit he wanted to disappear for a while. Kai took his flying sword and went to practice the sword technique. 

His sword is glorious, sharp edges and a large blade. Its body is thick but the runes allow him to change it shape even in the midst of battle. it can be used as a knife, a long knife and a sword.

Kai used the sword technique to practice with his new awesome sword in the wilderness. However, he noticed the animals and even the trees gave off an eerie feeling. It seems the apocalypse has already arrived.

The animals are more violent than before which is fine by Kai. He was having a relatively easy time until a group of monkeys with red eyes and devil qi coming out of their bodies surrounded him.

Kai had worn a complete set of uniform except for the face mask. he looks like a soldier out in training but instead of a gun he is carrying a beautiful sharp sword. 

The monkeys are relentless and ruthless. They attacked him in groups, they use strong wooden sticks, stones and some are just pulling on his clothes and even throwing soil on his face. The fight had been chaotic from the beginning.

Kai cut through the monkeys with his sword shortened and emerged bloody and dirty. His body is covered in black blood and soil. He is so disgusted he took out a bucket of water and washed himself clean. After learning to fight for three days he began to fly on his sword. The experience is so thrilling that he even dared to travel towards the open sea, he didn't make it as he crashed and broke his hip bone before getting too far. 

Kai came back with a large open gap on his uniform with blood all over his leg. He had fallen a couple pf times from his sword before he broke his leg, his thigh bone came out through the skin smearing his uniform with blood. He opened it, washed his wound and took the blood replenishing pill and then set the bones back. It hurt like a mother fucker.

Piloting a sword is not so easy after all. His leg is healing slowly even for a foundation establishment cultivator like himself there is a buffer period when injured. He is brought back home on the back of his wolf June. Kai fell asleep after taking strong pain killers on June's back.

Most of them are wearing soldiers uniform. The fact that they have let themselves into his home without his permission is testament that they are bullies. June is enough to deter anyone from standing on his way. 

The solders saw the triple layer heavy duty steel doors open on their own upon sensing June approaching. They have done everything to try and pry open these doors to no avail. But apparently they can just open on their own. 

Kai is asleep on top of the large wolf. As soon as the doors opened someone wanted to enter uninvited so the house zapped them a distance away with a strong electric current. The last thing they saw before the doors closed is two maid servants gently pulling Kai's body from the wolf and taking him towards what they can only assume to be the bedroom. 

Outside Kai's villa, many more soldiers came including Huo Jun and his father. The man they came with is called Colonel Ma of the central district battalion. He is also the man who is responsible for ensuring peace during this time of unrest. 

Huo Jun doesn't like this man because he is arrogant, self serving and a complete ass. He doesn't share these thoughts with others but he is worried about this man meeting Kai. That young man didn't even take his own father serious. Only gods know how much of a mess the meeting between these two will be if no one is there to mediate. 

Kai fell into deep sleep for a few hours. The people in the yard have been waiting for him to answer his phone for a long time now. 

The snow outside kept falling and the soldiers had to take shelter in the nearby vacant villas. A day went by and the Huo family got impatient.

Kai finally woke up two days after coming back feeling very hungry. He took a fasting pill and then showered. His phone rang and Huo Jun's figure appeared on the screen.

This is the first time Jun has used this feature when making a phone call since both parties must have a smart bracelet. Kai's figure is also visible to the people in the room with Huo Jun.

"38 missed calls are a bit excessive don't you agree Jun Jun?" Kai asked the cold young man with blinking his large black eyes.

"Open the door." Huo Jun felt everyone's eyes on him and wanted to end this conversation quickly.

"No." He hang up. His virtual image disappeared after he said that.

"How willful." Jun said through clenched teeth.

"He is an asset young general, use another approach. He seemed happy to see you at first. Maybe you should smile a little. Coax him well, we will leave you young people to talk." His uncle who is also in the room made everyone leave and winked at his nephew.

Jun Jun felt his cheeks burn. That damn Kai, he won't be reasonable even at a time like this. He calmed down and called again.

"Jun Jun. Did you miss me?" Kai is in a good mood after using his flying sword although he fell 8 feet above the ground and his hip landed on a sharp rock he is still very happy.

"Kai. The military needs your help."

"I gave you medicine and used your family name to gain people's trust at that time so that they will take the pills without drama. I will listen to you Huo Jun. I owe your family a favor. So Huo Jun, do you want something from me?" Kai leaned forward and looked at Huo Jun's cold eyes.

Huo Jun's heart skipped at his action. Kai is seducing him all the time. He didn't even know he could find another boy attractive before this. Jun felt his his hands get sweaty.

"The snow is infected." Huo Jun finally said.

"I provide known medicine for known diseases. I am not a researcher in that field." Kai said.

"Why not?" Huo Jun asked.

"It's not something that interest me."

"But people are dying."

"People die everyday. I am not the savior." Kai said firmly.

"But you could be. I know you are a once in a million genius. If you study and research this, there will be hope."

"No they won't. If I was given a change to study virus infection, it will be how to weaponize it." Kai spoke coolly surprising Huo Jun.

"That can't be true." Huo Jun said with a frown.

"I am afraid it is." Kai didn't mince his words. "Is there something else you people came here for?"

"The government...I would like for you to give up the production process of the Payne battery." Jun said after thinking about it for a while.

"I see. What will I get in return?" Kai asked. 

"Didn't you say you would...

"...give you whatever you want? That was before you made it clear that we will never be." Kai said bluntly. Huo Jun became speechless. Kai's formula is invaluable what can he possibly give in exchange for something like that?

"There is something I want." Kai looked at his nails like a diva.

"I want two wenghu mines." Kai laughed when He saw Jun's expression. "Go talk to your daddy." 

Kai dropped the call. He is not without a heart its just that people such and they would find a way to fuck him over. At least this way he will get something he wants and give them what they want. 

This is why he never exposed his real identity when distributing the pills that saved people from the virus. He also doesn't think what he did was all good because with the difficult times ahead, who knows how those people will live?
