28  Bumper Harvest!

Alex poured gasoline onto the floor, one bucket after another.

By the time the entire warehouse floor was soaked with gasoline, the zombies outside realized there was still a living person inside the warehouse.

The zombies began to rush back.

Seeing this, Alex dropped the gasoline canisters, pulled out his machete, and charged back towards the direction of the supply crate, casually hacking down several zombies along the way.

Then, he reached out and touched the golden-tier supply crate.

Without even bothering to see what was inside, he immediately stashed the crate into his backpack.

Without a moment's delay, he quickly jumped out of the same window he had entered through.

Seemingly because the supply crate had been taken, the zombies became more frenzied, hastening their pursuit.

As the zombies chased after him, Alex looked back and pulled out a Molotov cocktail.

"Goodbye!"

Alex tossed the Molotov cocktail into the warehouse.

As the flames erupted, igniting the gasoline on the floor, the entire warehouse quickly became a massive furnace.

With the golden-tier supply crate now in hand, Alex swiftly departed from the warehouse.

Before he could get far, the warehouse suddenly exploded, sending waves of heat radiating outward.

Watching the experience bar steadily rise, Alex knew that this time he had a chance to level up.

[Congratulations, survivor, on leveling up! Keep up the good work!!]

Level: 5 (0/500)

Strength: 20 Agility: 12 Stamina: Normal

All five points of increase had unexpectedly gone into shoring up his weak point, agility.

This was something Alex hadn't anticipated.

After the increase, Alex even felt that his reflexes were so sharp that he could instantly sense the presence of mosquitoes around him and swat them dead.

And it wasn't over yet; the experience kept on rising.

"Not bad, not bad."

Satisfied, Alex closed the personal information panel.

Next, he took out the golden-tier supply crate that he had risked his life to obtain.

He wanted to see what kind of treasures it held inside.

Alex looked at the golden-tier supply crate, completely different in appearance from the bronze and silver-tier ones, and gently stroked it, murmuring to himself, "Please, let there be something good inside, something worth trading three minutes... no, three days of my life for!"

As his hand touched the lock of the supply crate, a system interface appeared, displaying an unlock icon.

He clicked it.

Despite having opened many supply crates before, this was Alex's first time opening a golden-tier supply crate, and he couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness.

In the moment of opening, Alex closed his eyes and kept chanting.

"Come on! Give me something good!!"

After about half a minute, Alex slowly opened his eyes and clicked to receive the contents of the supply crate.

[Successfully opened golden-tier supply crate]

[Obtained Gasoline Generator ×1]

[Obtained Fine Bread ×50]

[Obtained Purified Water ×99]

[Obtained Worn-out Car ×1]

...

Alex was stunned.

He hadn't expected that the golden-tier supply crate would contain a gasoline generator.

Even more surprising was the presence of a car!!

Alex took the car out of his backpack, opened the gas tank lid, and added gasoline.

Then, he sat in the driver's seat, adjusting to a comfortable position, and joyfully touched the steering wheel.

You see, he was quite skilled at driving; he had worked as a part-time driver during his college days for quite some time.

With the car now in his possession, it seemed like the geographical barriers between regions in the apocalypse world would no longer be a hindrance.

Moreover, the sound of the car wasn't too loud.

As long as the road was clear, even if it attracted the attention of some zombies, he could quickly get away.

Compared to the convenience it brought, the accompanying danger could be completely ignored.

Just as Alex was reveling in the joy of owning a car, it turned out that quite a few zombies from the warehouse had miraculously survived and were now running towards him.

Wanting to test the performance of the car, Alex directly started the vehicle.

The engine roared to life with a deep rumble.

Looking at the approaching zombies, Alex slowly rolled up the car window, snorting coldly.

"You're lucky this time. I'm in a hurry to drive home, so I won't kill you."

Alex released the handbrake and shifted gears smoothly.

Unexpectedly, the car started to shake violently, and the engine died.

Alex cursed inside the car, "Damn it, it's been too long since I drove a manual transmission car. I released the clutch too quickly."

The car started again.

As the zombies came closer, ready to pound on the car, Alex revved the engine and shifted into second gear, speeding away.

The zombies, undeterred, continued to chase after him.

Alex retraced his steps along the same road he had come from, trying to regain the familiar feeling of driving a manual transmission car. He smoothly shifted into third gear and increased the throttle.

Just as he was about to shift into fourth gear, he found himself unable to do so.

Alex gritted his teeth in frustration.

It seemed that the car was somewhat old, and the gearbox had worn out, preventing him from shifting gears properly.

Judging from the interior of the car, it was probably around twenty years old.

But still, better than nothing.

He pressed the accelerator deeper, raising the RPMs slightly, and managed to reach a speed of sixty to seventy kilometers per hour.

As Alex drove past the ring of fire where Emma had been surrounded earlier, he noticed that she was nowhere to be seen.

Glancing around, he saw a covered escape route nearby.

Surprisingly, Emma had managed to escape in such a short amount of time.

This left Alex somewhat surprised.

You got lucky.

After a quick glance, Alex focused back on driving.

Driving onto the highway, the car's speed increased once again.

Leaving the trailing zombies far behind, only their distant howls remained.
