15 Level 4 Hairy Caterpillar

"The number of evolved creatures we encountered has increased in the past few days. Soon, this place will be overrun by those monsters. We need to leave before that happens." Kent's words made everyone realize how dangerous their situation was. They were currently trapped within the ruined city of Lochwall, the epicenter of the incident one week ago.

Phillip raised his eyebrows. "Why don't we stay here? We have enough food to last us for a couple of months."

Kent stared at him and shook his head. "We can't. Those creatures are getting stronger as the days pass by. If we stay here for long, there's no guarantee that we can survive once we encounter those powerful predators."

"I agree with Kent. We need to leave this place as soon as possible." James supported Kent's plan.

"When do we leave?" Celine asked while staring at Kent.

Kent looked at her and replied. "We have to wait for Sir Ralph to recover. Once he has fully rested, we'll leave immediately." He took a glance at Ralph while saying those words.

Ralph nodded at him gratefully.

"What about the supplies here?" Ericka asked.

Kent pushed up his glasses and said. "We will bring as much as we can, but we have to abandon the rest. It is a pity, but there's nothing we can do. All vehicles are no longer working so we have to carry the supplies by ourselves. We can't bring a lot since that would only slow us down."

Everyone agreed with his logic.

Kent turned his gaze to Rendell and said. "Our friend here is the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Garnier. He is stationed in Greyork and we need to bring her there safely to receive the protection of the army. We need your strength to ensure her safety throughout the journey."

That is some serious background.' Rendell was taken aback when he heard this. He looked at the girl he was referring to.

She was a beautiful young woman with long black hair tied in a ponytail. His first impression of her was that she was a strict person. This was because she always wore a cold look on her face. "I have no objections." He responded.

Receiving the backing of the army would be crucial to his plan to eliminate that person.

Everyone was surprised by his quick response. Only Kent wasn't surprised since he already knew Rendell's plan to leave Lochwall.

"Good! In two or three days, we'll depart." Kent muttered.

Three days later, the group came out of the supermarket. Each of them was holding a backpack filled with supplies they needed for the trip.

"Let's go." Rendell led the way.

In the last three days, they went out on several occasions to map out a safe route. They also searched for survivors, but they found no one. The only living beings they encountered were the evolved creatures. Just like what Kent has said, more and more of them had sprung up.

"There's an evolved creature at the end of this street," Aurora warned them. Her cerulean eyes flashed with brilliance.

The group became tense when they heard her report.

"What should we do?" They all looked at Kent, waiting to hear his opinion.

Kent stared at Aurora and asked. "Can you see its level?"

Aurora nodded. "It's a Level 4 Hairy Caterpillar." She responded.

Hearing this, Kent turned his gaze to Rendell. "What do you think? Can you handle it?"

Rendell smiled at him. "I'll take care of it." His body was feeling a lot better after being treated by Ericka. Coupled with his powerful regeneration and her Magical Bandages, even the wound on his torso has almost completely disappeared. Only terrifying scars remained on his face and body, making him look more intimidating.

Everyone stared at him deeply. No one had seen him display his might so they were slightly looking forward to seeing him in action.

Soon, the group reached the end of the street and they finally saw the creature discovered by Aurora's Mystic Eyes.

It was a huge hairy worm the size of a bus. Its body was fully covered with long black hair and on its head was a pair of sharp mandibles, looking extremely hideous. The creature had six legs and five pairs of stumpy prolegs.

The sight of the strange creature made their skin crawl.

James summoned his flame, but Kent quickly grabbed his arm and shook his head. "I'd like to see what he can do." He muttered while staring at Rendell who was preparing to fight the creature.

James hesitated, but he soon extinguished his flame. He also wanted to see Rendell's abilities.

Rendell put down his backpack and pulled out his steel sword. He still had three unallocated attribute points so he added one point to his strength and two points to his speed, increasing both stats to 16.

He felt a mild tingling sensation coursing through his body. This was an aftereffect of adding attribute points to his stats. He already experienced it once so he wasn't surprised by the sensation.

Rendell lifted the sword with his left hand. It felt awkward to him, but he needed to get used to it.

The Hairy Caterpillar sensed his desire to fight so it lifted its segmented body to appear huge. This was an instinctive response that it usually used to scare away its predators. Unfortunately, it didn't work on Rendell which made the creature furious.

It emitted a hissing sound while displaying its two sharp mandibles in a threatening manner. The black hair all over its body stood erect, making it appear bigger.

Rendell clicked his tongue in disgust. "What a nasty thing you are." He muttered before he dashed forward with his sword raised above his head.

His quick movement stunned James and the others.

"He is almost as fast as me when I'm using my Gift!" Phillip exclaimed in disbelief.

Meanwhile, Rendell suddenly jumped up when he was five meters away from the creature, and with a twist of his body, he slashed down his sword.

Before the Hairy Caterpillar could respond, Rendell's sword struck its head and severed it in one swing!

Everyone's eyes widened when they saw this scene.
