8 Talent

Bang!

At this moment, a series of zombie roars came from outside, as if the entire city was enveloped in despair.

All the zombies were howling, and Shaun slowly walked to the entrance of the supermarket, wanting to see what had happened.

"Why don't I join in? Maybe it's weird not to make any noise!" Watching the zombies outside howling at the sky, he also started to howl.

But then, something shocking happened!

The blood-red sun in the sky suddenly emitted a strong light, illuminating every zombie's body. The zombies seemed to be absorbing the red light, and this strange phenomenon continued for ten minutes before the red light dissipated.

Shaun also received the red light, but he didn't seem to notice any difference. As usual, these zombies were making a fuss for no reason.

"System, system!"

"Ding! As the blood-red sun can provide energy to the system, it has been absorbed!"

"Wow, you're really honest!" Shaun raised an eyebrow, surprised that the system admitted it so readily. But with the system in hand, his evolution speed was much faster than that of ordinary zombies.

Outside, the zombies had all advanced to the second rank. Shaun was already a fourth-rank zombie! His strength had doubled, his speed had slightly improved, and his senses had become sharper. The advancement and rewards from the weekly tasks had made him feel more alive than ever.

He decided to wait for the last twelve hours and look for the talents when the colorful rays appeared in the sky. The new weekly task didn't pose much danger for him, considering his current strength.

As time passed and it came to six o'clock in the morning, zombies had evolved last night, and no survivors dared to come out.

But in the last two hours, three humans, two men, and a woman, carefully approached the supermarket. They were cautious and moved quietly, avoiding other zombies on their way.

One of the men seemed excited, bragging about how his calculations and analysis helped them avoid the zombies.

Ignoring the man's words, the other two eagerly scavenged for food in the supermarket. The post-apocalyptic world had taught them to cherish every morsel of food.

The woman was so focused on collecting food that she accidentally bumped into someone. She looked up to see a figure in a pink cape and crimson eyes gazing back at her.

"Ahh!"

The eerie scene startled her, and she screamed in terror. Shaun whipped his pink cape over her and brought her close to him, holding her neck with his hand. The woman fell into his embrace, and he leaned in towards her.

Meanwhile, the two men outside heard the woman's scream and rushed to see what was happening. One of them wielded a wooden stick, ready to confront the man who seemed to be assaulting the woman.

But as they approached, they saw the crimson eyes and bloodied mouth of the man in the pink cape, and they froze in fear. It never occurred to them that the assailant would be a zombie.

One of them was too shocked to move, and Shaun grabbed him instantly, sinking his teeth into the man's flesh.

The other man reacted quickly, turning around and running out of the supermarket, terrified by what he had witnessed.

Shaun roared, but he knew he couldn't catch up to the escaping man. After another evolution, he could easily outpace humans with good physical attributes, but this guy was quite exceptional, almost comparable to Shaun himself.

"Beep! The host successfully infected one person, +10 evolution points!"

Shaun's evolution points had reached 70/400, but he was still far from the next rank.

After waiting for a while longer, no more survivors showed up. Bored, Shaun took out his phone, only to find that it was dead, and there was no power source to recharge it.

He took a phone from the infected woman's backpack, but the signal was completely blocked.

Guessing that the communication system had also collapsed, he stepped outside and lit a cigarette, gazing into the distance. The blood-red sun shone down, and he recalled the days of running under the setting sun, a time when his youth was still alive.

At noon, the sky suddenly filled with countless colorful rays, bringing a glimmer of hope to this despairing apocalypse. People made wishes and prayed for the end of this catastrophe.

Shaun stood up, spit out the cigarette, and looked into the distance, trying to spot the nearest colorful ray.

Unfortunately, his vision was blurry, and his eyesight was not as sharp as before. He realized that he needed to find a pair of glasses as soon as possible!

Shaun walked straight out of the residential area, attempting to find the nearest location of the colorful rays.

The once bustling streets were now devoid of any human presence, with zombies wandering everywhere. Dried bloodstains covered the ground, and the air was oppressive and hot.

Among the crowd of corpses, Shaun strolled casually, his unique attire making him stand out from the rest. If ordinary humans saw his back, they might mistake him for a human with some mental issues.

Spotting a clothing store not far away, he felt the need to dress up properly. He couldn't afford to be careless when it came to talents; who knows, maybe he would get a lucky bonus and obtain a divine-level talent.

He entered the clothing store, where several former store clerks, now zombies, roamed around aimlessly.

Roar!

Shaun roared, but the zombies remained indifferent. What lousy customer service!

After a few minutes, he left the clothing store, now dressed in a bright red down jacket with a hat, completely wrapped up.

He casually picked up a pair of sunglasses from the nearby glasses store and put them on his face.

However, the bloodstains on his mouth immediately revealed his identity as a zombie. But he couldn't find a mask, so he picked up a black plastic bag from the ground and tied it around his mouth.

He also wore a pair of white gloves, the type used for manual labor.

Now Shaun had successfully disguised himself as a non-human-looking individual.

The big white dog had warned him that there were still dangers in this apocalyptic world, even for docile mutants. If the mutants didn't become aggressive and still followed their owners' commands, they would become formidable beings.

Shaun didn't want to walk on the street and be suddenly taken down by a mutated monster that popped out of nowhere.

The docile mutants were still obedient to their owners, and at this stage of the apocalypse, there should be few people who would kill without provocation. So his human disguise would provide him with some security.

The descent of the godly talents was slow, and from the current situation, it would take at least half an hour for them to land completely.

Shaun was in no hurry. He roughly calculated the position of the godly talent and estimated it to have fallen to the east of the city.

He leisurely walked forward, sniffing the air, trying to find survivors.

The path of evolution was still ongoing.

Suddenly, as he passed by an internet cafe, he smelled the fresh scent of flesh, mingled with a faint stench.

With great skill, he entered the internet cafe, and the interior was lit with red light, shining on the computers.

However, no living humans could be seen; only zombies were wandering around.

Some zombies were stumbling about aimlessly, while others were still sitting at their seats, unable to get up, with headphones on. They must have been infected while playing games.

Shaun skillfully made his way to the back of the internet cafe, where the restroom was located. The door was tightly shut, locked from the inside.

The scent of flesh came from inside, and there were two survivors in there.

Bang! Bang!

He tried knocking on the door, but there was no response. He could hear their frightened gasps through his weakened hearing.

Bang! Bang!

He tried again, but being unable to speak, he could only use knocking to inform them that someone was here to "help" them.

But the occupants inside remained unmoved, seemingly terror-stricken by their experiences over the past few days.

Shaun started to think of other ways to communicate with them.

He looked down and saw a gap under the restroom door, enough to slip a piece of paper through. But who would do such a thing? Except for the former Shaun before turning into a zombie.

He wandered around but didn't find anyone this bored. He checked the restroom on the second floor of the internet cafe, but it was empty.

An idea struck him, and he entered the second-floor restroom and tore down a few advertisements from the wall.

Sneaking back to the first-floor restroom, he threw the advertisements on the ground and used his foot to kick them one by one into the restroom.
