Entering the Safe Zone

A crowd that had been pelting the convoy with objects was soon left behind after they chased the vehicles for a while. As they drove a few hundred meters further, a group of people kneeling on the ground appeared ahead. They were holding up their children, hoping the convoy would take them into the safe zone. Despair and helplessness were evident in their eyes.

Yet, the convoy continued indifferently, driving past them without stopping.

As they approached the checkpoint of the safe zone, the scene changed dramatically. A group of masked rioters armed with sticks, steel pipes, and Molotov cocktails were confronting the military. Stones and Molotov cocktails were thrown, but they landed far from the military's defensive lines, igniting flames on the ground instead.

Seeing the evacuation convoy returning, the military immediately deployed a platoon of armed soldiers who charged out. This show of force frightened the rioters into a hasty retreat.
