58 Mercy

At this moment, the Wild Wolf had returned to the house and was packing up all the belongings that could be taken away.

Although he had instructed the members of the Wild Wolf Brigade to risk their lives and extinguish the fire below, he was secretly preparing to abandon this group of cannon fodder and make his escape.

Suddenly, he noticed a figure approaching him from behind. The Wild Wolf didn't hesitate and immediately drew his crossbow to shoot. However, when he turned around, he couldn't bring himself to attack.

Waldo was holding a P92 pistol, aimed directly at his head. The Wild Wolf dropped to his knees, threw away the crossbow, and forced a smile.

"Sir, let's talk this out like civilized people! No need for weapons! Whatever supplies you need, as long as I have them, you can take them."

Waldo wasted no time and asked directly, "I'm asking you, where is Helen?"

The Wild Wolf was taken aback. "Who is Helen? I don't know her."

Bang! The Wild Wolf cried out in agony as his kneecap was shattered by Waldo's gunshot. He hastily pleaded, "I truly don't know who Helen is! Spare me, please!"

Waldo furrowed his brow. "You must know Russ, right? Where is the woman he brought with him?"

The Wild Wolf wore a mournful expression, cursing Russ in his mind. "Damn it, so that woman's name is Helen. She's a jinx, a damn jinx!" But he remained obedient in his words. "If I tell you the woman's location, can you spare my life?"

Waldo coldly replied, "You better be honest. I might consider sparing your life."

The Wild Wolf kowtowed and repeatedly thanked him, then revealed Helen's location. She was in the large warehouse to the right, about a hundred meters away.

Bang!

After learning Helen's location, Waldo shot the Wild Wolf in the head. The Wild Wolf's mouth hung open as he looked at Waldo before finally collapsing.

Waldo calmly stated, "After giving it some thought, I've decided to kill you." He then headed towards the warehouse where Helen was located.

In the abandoned warehouse, Russ ordered Ged to carry Helen. He was planning to take advantage of the chaos and make his escape.

When the Wild Wolf Brigade's camp suddenly caught fire for no apparent reason, Russ fled with Ged. He had originally thought that by bringing Helen to the Wild Wolf Brigade, he could enjoy a life of luxury.

However, because the Wild Wolf couldn't have Helen, he took his anger out on Russ, forcing him to sleep in the communal dormitory and eat inferior bread.

How could Russ tolerate such living conditions? Although there weren't many supplies before, Helen had managed to exchange for some delicious food from Waldo. Watching Helen struggle, Russ let out a cold sneer.

"Helen, stop struggling. Offering you to the Wild Wolf on a silver platter is too generous. I want to be your first man, then hang you up in the chat channel in exchange for supplies. Hahaha!"

Helen angrily cursed, "Russ, you're sick! You're a madman!"

Russ laughed uproariously. "Am I crazy? No, I'm not crazy! Since I can't have your heart, then I'll destroy you! You like Waldo? Well, guess what, will Waldo enjoy being ridden by thousands of people? I'm really looking forward to it!"

"Russ!"

Russ heard a somewhat unfamiliar but familiar voice behind him and turned to look. Waldo had arrived at the warehouse door and happened to overhear Russ's confession. He walked over with anger in his eyes.

"Russ!"

Bang!

Bang!

Two gunshots rang out.

Ged glanced at the two bullet holes on his body and turned his head with great effort. He yelled at Russ with his last ounce of strength, "Run!"

In that moment when Waldo fired the gun, Ged, who was standing beside him, threw himself forward and took the fatal shot intended for Russ. Russ froze for a moment, glanced at the fallen Ged, and then ran without looking back.

Ged lay in a pool of blood, his consciousness fading. "it's a pity... we couldn't... together..."

Ged weakly reached out his trembling hand towards the fleeing Russ, but it fell down limply. He was dead.

Waldo quickly stepped forward and helped Helen up. He asked with concern, "Helen, are you okay?"

Helen nodded. "I'm fine." She then snatched the P92 pistol from Waldo's hand and aimed it at Russ, firing a shot.

Russ, who had been running frantically, didn't realize that the large warehouse had only one exit, which was where Waldo was approaching from. After being shot, Russ was in too much pain to stand up. Helen slowly approached, raising the handgun.

Russ's face turned pale, and he began sobbing uncontrollably. "Helen, Helen! I lost my mind earlier, said nonsense. We were classmates, college classmates for four years! Waldo, Waldo, please speak up for me! I don't want to die! Please spare my life!"

Helen roared in anger and pulled the trigger.

"Ahh!"

Russ screamed, terrified and wetting his pants. But soon he realized that he hadn't been injured.

"I'm not dead?"

Russ hastily turned his head for a quick glance, not caring too much, and limped towards the warehouse exit.

Helen felt somewhat frustrated. Her marksmanship was poor. The shot she had just fired missed Russ and hit the sand heap nearby.

Getting closer, almost there! Russ's eyes revealed a strong desire to survive. Soon, he would be able to escape. Escape and avoid death!

Bang!

Another gunshot shattered his dream. Russ felt a sharp pain in his chest and fell in front of the warehouse exit. In his fading gaze, there was a profound sense of resentment. It was just one step away!

Helen put down the handgun and turned her head, feeling a mix of complex emotions. Shooting her former classmate was not an easy thing to do.

But she also knew that Russ deserved to die for what he had done to her. Besides, this cruel world didn't allow for mercy.

Watching this scene, Waldo let out a sigh.

"Let's go."

The two of them left, leaving two people behind.

And all of this would be consumed by the spreading flames.
