27 A message from Lotus

Tyler was unable to finish the sentence, and he blacked out. He had really seen a familiar person, someone he didn't expect to come to his aid.

However, just when he tried to call back this person, she vanished without even waiting to receive his gratitude.

...

When Tyler woke up, he found himself inside his office room, lying on his bed with bandages pasted around his chest.

"Argh... Why does it feel like my bones are ripped off," he muttered while trying to force himself to lean against the bed crown.

Sigh...

Raising his head, he got his first glimpse at Enzo, who seemed to be dozing away while sitting on a chair close to Tyler's bed.

"Tsk," Tyler reacted. He then focused on making his back lean to the bed crown. Tyler felt so much pain doing this, but he only just had to endure it.

'Enzo is fine. This means he went into the safe part of the mining facility structure.'

'This is a... Relief.'

The Hangman was happy that Enzo was fine. He had thought that Enzo would be confronting some beasts at the other corner of the mining structure, but by seeing his good state, Tyler was visibly proved wrong.

"Argh..."

He tried to adjust a bit to suit himself and felt yet another intense pain deep inside his chest.

Just then, Tyler's exclamation made Enzo wake up.

*Yawn*

"Uh, Officer. Are you okay?" Enzo asked, rushing to Tyler with a worried countenance.

Tyler quickly used a sign to make him back away. "I'm fine."

Enzo halted... Unconvinced, he tried to make a positive nod.

"I... I'm sorry I didn't notice..."

"You don't have to. We went a far distance from each other so there's no way you can be aware of what's going on."

"It's not your fault, Enzo," Tyler interrupted as he noticed Enzo trying to make some silly apologies.

Enzo nodded, and sighed.

"I called your doctor, he should be on his way here now," he said.

"Do I really need a doctor for this?" Tyler smirked.

Hearing this, Enzo couldn't help but let out a slight frown. "You have been brutally Injured, sir. If you don't get treatment, you are going to lose a lot of blood, which might be life-threatening."

Tyler smiled at his warning. "Oh well then..."

Enzo nodded. "He is on his way."

Tyler also nodded and switched his gaze...

They were silent for quite a while until The Hangman decided to break the silence. Tyler had been wondering why... Venus... Yeah, it was Venus.

He wondered why she ran out of the mining facility structure after killing the SS+-ranked beasts. Well, he knew that they weren't good on themselves, and he couldn't believe that Venus came to his aid.

'Isn't she suspecting that I sent the swordsman?' He asked himself inwardly, before opening up to Enzo.

"Enzo, do you in any way see a lady dressed in tech clothes, masked, greyish hair..."

"Oh yes! The woman who saved you," Enzo said without hesitation.

"Saved me? You knew?" The Hangman asked in surprise.

Enzo smiled, nodding positively. "I saw her slay all the SS+-ranked beasts when I was approaching your direction. And unfortunately, before I could progress really close, she zoomed off. And the last words you said was... Ven," Enzo explained.

Sigh...

"She was masked, so I didn't see her face," Enzo added.

Tyler nodded positively and switched his gaze again.

'Venus came to save me... For what purpose?'

The Hangman kept wondering until the doctor arrived. He had a thorough treatment for pain and his wounded skin, and after taking a lot of medications, he felt better.

But not actually better.

At least, he could stand and walk applying normal pressure.

The next day, Tyler received a message from Lotus Land. First came a gift from the head of the Northern Villages.

Just like the gift from the Southern Village's head, this one was highly remarkable. It was a diamond eyeglass which he first had no idea of its function.

Summoning the game system, Tyler wasted no time.

----------

[Name: Dusk Vision Enabler Glasses].

[Rarity: Unique].

[Function: Allows the user to see clearly in the night just like seeing in the day].

[Availability for usage: 0/1].

----------

Tyler shrugged.

"It's indeed a nice item, but just having one to use isn't fair at all," Tyler said, slightly disappointed.

He quickly asked the game system. "Can I use Impulse Points to add availability?"

----------

[Unfortunately No, Hangman].

----------

Tyler frowned. "Damn it."

He pocketed the glasses and made his way out of his office room after the inspection and this was when he got notified about the message sent from Lotus Land, the new city added to the Second Stage of the First Realm.

Tyler had studied everything about Lotus, and just like New Claraville, Lotus Land can be a very dangerous place. Despite being more richer and developed than N.Claraville, they suffered danger from top destructive individuals who could use magic.

No one dares to confront them, and Tyler himself made up his mind to ignore these people for the time being.

However...

"Martin Palmer, the richest man in Lotus just forwarded a message to you, Officer," Enzo said, handing over a file to Tyler.

Tyler collected the file, fluttered his lashes, and opened the file. Inside the file, a blue paper could be seen with bodies of words written accordingly upon the lines.

Tyler read quietly.

("Martin Palmer's message to Officer Hangman."

"I know you are doing all you can to stay away from this, but I know deep down, you are willing to help. The Devourers will keep killing innocent people, and trust me if they are done with Lotus Land, they will surely come for New Claraville."

"So please, Officer Hangman. Can you help us take these people down? I'm willing to pay $100000 for the work. You just have to get these traitors out of this place."

"Yours sincerely, Martin.")

Tyler sighed, confused. His head spun.

"The Devourers are A-ranked dark magic users. They are way too powerful for us to defeat. I'm afraid we are going to be the ones being defeated if we try," Enzo said after reading the letter. Tyler already read the letter, so there was no crime in him reading it after.

"You don't have to worry, Enzo."

Tyler patted Enzo's shoulder and left for his office room. He remembered gaining a new skill after completing the last Class Duty, but due to being brutally Injured, The Hangman never had the time to inspect the skill.

But with the way he saw things, this must be a very helpful skill...

"Just maybe..."
