“Whatever you say,” Eshin said in a low tone. It was clear that he wasn't resigned, but there was nothing he could do.

“Go and prepare for tomorrow. Make sure you give your best during your test. As long as you are valuable, you will be safe.” Sud said to Anurak.

The mood of the whole room had changed already. Sud's friendly and down-to-earth tone was gone. In its place was a no-nonsense, low but authoritative tone that grabbed Anurak's attention and demanded his obedience.

“Yes, Hia. I will do my best.” He nodded earnestly, not daring to say otherwise.

“Check the fridge on your way out, pick another wine. After joining a team, find Wan Lee and apologize to him too.”

“Yes, Hai.” Anurak nodded again.

Sud's words were direct orders, and it took some self-awareness for Anurak not to bow and add 'Sir.' when responding. A grievance rose in his heart, but he swallowed it because this wasn't the time to be stubborn.
