5 Learning about Chakra Control

<Naruto's apartment>

When Naruto finally reached the apartment, he was sweating bullets. Not that he ran all the way through at top speed. Still, he was pretty tired. So, before doing anything, he just pulled a wooden chair from his table and sat on it.

After waiting a while for his tiredness to wear off, he sat on the floor meditatively and concentrated on his Eight Trigram Seal.

When he blinked his eyes, he was already in front of Kurama. There was a look of concern on Kurama's face when Naruto arrived. But Kurama changed his face in a split second to not break his image as a fearsome nine-tails.

This didn't go unnoticed by Naruto, who had just appeared. He could only smile, seeing Kurama's antics. There was one screaming inside Naruto's mind, resonating with Kuramas behavior. What you thought was right indeed: which is 'Tsundere.'

But he would gladly take a 'Tsundere' over 'a beast' who is rearing to kill you at any given moment. He also gave himself a mental head pat, recalling how he had asked God for a perfect bloodline. Or else, it would be a dream to get Kurama's help. Having a similar chakra to Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki saved him months, if not years, of time persuading Kurama to lend a hand.

"What happened there, brat?"

Kurama broke the silence, making me wake up from my stupor.

"Oh, it's like this..."

Then Naruto explained what happened to him down to the most minor details, excluding the memories of his other life.

It took a while for him to finish explaining everything. No matter how indifferent Kurama tried to be, a hint of concern could be seen in his eyes throughout the whole explanation. It was intensified when he heard the torture Naruto went through.

After telling the whole thing to Kurama, Naruto asked, "Do you know what happened to me? Kurama"

"I'm sorry, boy, I only felt that some kind of force was entering your body. After that, I was locked out and couldn't sense anything."

He said with a guilty voice while looking towards Naruto.

"Haha, don't worry, Kurama; I know you care about me."

"Heh, a brat can sure dream big."

Not wanting the cringy atmosphere to continue, Kurama kicked the confused Naruto out with a laugh.

<Naruto's Pov>

Now I am lying on the floor, looking at the wooden ceiling. Can't that fox just give me a warning before kicking me out?

Oh shoot, I totally forgot to ask him to teach me. Although sad, I have to cross out teasing Kurama from my checklist.

Otherwise, I would just get kicked out without being able to learn anything. Even the fact that Kurama is willing to teach is itself a miracle.

After getting kicked out, I slowly stood up and went to the bathroom, taking a towel with me. Still, I have to say that it is really refreshing to take a shower after all that running.

More than anything, I wish I could grow faster because I seriously doubt that my body could take the strain given by my large chakra reserves. Not right now, obviously; however, I have a gut feeling that day might not be far off.

I mean, what's the use of a gigantic chakra reserve and a variety of eye prowess without a suitable enough body to bear the impact given by those? Although I have an excellent bloodline, I am not strong enough to utilize its power.

No one would like the idea of turning into a meat paste just because he could not bear the power he contained. That would be pretty shameful.

After getting my thoughts sorted out, I stepped outside, as it was still morning. Since I hadn't eaten anything yet, I decided to try my favorite Ichiraku ramen. I still remember that rainy day when he offered me a bowl of ramen. I think I was 4 years old then. He was one of the few people who didn't treat me akin to a monster. It may not have been such a grand thing for old man Ichiraku at that time, but for me, it meant everything. I was just happy to get some affection.

Naruto walked towards the ramen shop, reminiscing about the past. He reached Ichiraku Ramen in no time.

"Naruto, Good to see you here. Same as usual?"

Ichiraku said while giving him a smile.

"Yup, old man."

"Coming right up!"

Just a few moments later, he got his much-anticipated ramen. Every cell in Naruto told him to eat the ramen before him. And that's what he did. Not even 2 minutes had passed, but there was nothing left in Naruto's bowl. Even Naruto himself was surprised at the speed at which he ate.

Then, after saying goodbye to old man Ichiraku, he went for a walk around the city as always. Only in the evening did he come to his apartment again.

"I guess it's time to learn some chakra control."

Naruto muttered while sitting on his bed in a meditative position and entered the Eight Trigram Seal.

After seeing Kurama in a sleeping position, Naruto went and stood in front of him.

"Kurama, wouldn't you help me with my chakra control?"

Naruto gave a pleading look, which earned him a laugh from Kurama.

"Brat, you don't have to show me that face. I will teach you. We had a promise, remember?"

"Yup, yup," Naruto said impatiently.

"Sit down here, boy."

Kurama stretched his hand to a place not far from him. Naruto went there, took a seat, and looked at him with eager eyes. Then he started explaining:

"I will start with the basics. What you call chakra is the product of two forms of energy. They are called 'physical energy' and 'spiritual energy.'

Physical energy is collected from the body's cells. You can improve this through training and exercise.

Spiritual energy is derived from the mind's consciousness. This can be improved through meditation and the experience gained from repeating a technique again and again.

The general term for overall physical energy is 'total stamina.' For the spiritual energy, it is 'chakra level' or 'chakra capacity.'

Naruto was amazed at how knowledgeable Kurama was. Also, this was his first time learning the theory behind chakra. Even in his memory, there wasn't much detail on intricate subjects. Instead, it was just a summary of everything, including future events.

Kurama continued;

"Now that the basics are covered, I will state some essential points regarding chakra control. When a technique is done, the chakra flows through your chakra circulatory system and finally reaches your chakra points.

Executing a technique, or what you call a jutsu, requires two steps. The first is the channeling chakra for the desired jutsu. If the channeled chakra is too much or too little, the jutsu will not work correctly. Secondly, you must accurately manipulate the channeled chakra and guide it along the correct pathway.

So, for now, we will practice controlling the chakra output. After you get hold of it, we will move on to chakra manipulation."

Only after listening to the whole lecture did Naruto genuinely understand how complicated it was to use jutsu. He was thankful that he asked for the chakra control. Otherwise, it would be a dream to control his six paths chakra. As if that was not enough, he had a naturally large chakra reserve because he was an Uzumaki with the added benefit of Kurama.

"How can I practice my chakra output and manipulation, though?"

Naruto asked with a pondering face.

"Brat, don't be too hasty. I've seen many people get themselves hurt trying to rush things. Focus on controlling your chakra output for now."

Just find some stones ranging from pebble size to bigger ones that are the size of a head. Then inject chakra into it to find the resonance level of the object. The resonance level is the highest chakra amount that can be borne by an object before it gets cracked and destroyed. You can hear a buzzing sound just when it reaches the resonance.

Then, try to remember that output and inject chakra into the object again, just a bit below that level. Your goal is to maintain the buzzing sound of that thing without destroying it."

"Alright, I will try it out, Kurama. Thank you very much."

"Only call me again after you master it, little brat."

Wanting to test this, Naruto suddenly stood up and pulled his mind back to the real world. But just when he left, Kurama started laughing out loud.

"Haha, I would love to see your face when we meet next time."

Kurama knew that it would take Naruto a long time to get it right, considering his enormous chakra capacity added with the chakra nature of his old man. But Kurama also knew that when he finally managed to master everything, there would be no foe against him anywhere in the world.
