Chapter-6 The Honeymoon Phase

Three months have gone by since I came here, the wedding fiasco, Alex's date now officially her boyfriend, and one day I accidentally called Phil 'Dad' since then he hasn't let it go. Always calling me to hang around with them and play with them.

If Alex was there, then it would have been fine, but after she went on a humanitarian trip, going there seems a little awkward.

But after a week of hanging around with them, we got to know each other, and now it doesn't feel awkward anymore, Now I am even enjoying it. I think Claire also warming up to me. It feels good to have a family.

In those three months, I also got to meet with others, including Lily, one of the best, Jay, who reminds me of my grandpa, hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Manny has some quality, but doesn't know how to display it. And lastly, the Step-Grandma, whom I never want to cross paths with or have a bad relationship. Mitch and Cam are, a little awkward at first, but it is smooth sailing later.

Other than that, everything is fine.

Today at a nice day. The Dunphy and Ryan are enjoying a perfect summer. Having breakfast sometimes and sometimes dinner, might I say.

-Commentary-

First was Phil and Claire sitting on a living room sofa, looking at the camera, and soon other people's turn came. "We are having… the most perfect Summer…ever," said everyone including me, I also got an interview on the camera.

"Don't get me wrong. The Dunphy's have had some great days. We just have a little trouble stringing them together. And Ryan, ah, he is like a kid I always wanted but never had." Said Claire with a smile on her face.

"Ugh, Ryan, Our Ray, he is a cool kid to hang around with, ah who am I kidding he is the best. Don't get me wrong, if he broke my daughter's heart, I will beat him up but will still bring first aid and take him to the hospital. In the end, he is the nice guy." Said Phil with a kid-like smile.

"Not bad, Phil, but you don't have to, I know Ryan, he won't do that, and we are even having the perfect summer even with him around." Said, Claire.

"Our record was eight consecutive blissful days-December 2007. It was our Hanukkah," said Phil and Claire.

"This summer, all the Dunphy's and Ryan, I might add, are just clicking. Yeah, Hayley and Luke are getting along, Luke and Ryan are getting Along and Even Me and Ryan are getting along. Would you believe that I am getting along with one of my daughter's boyfriends? Alex is off building houses for the poor." Said, Claire.

"Which I Know sounds awful, but she loves it." Said Phil while Claire nods.

Soon my turn came, I sat on the sofa and looked into the camera, and said.

"Haley and I are getting along great; Luke and I are getting great we play on a trampoline sometimes, and took him to play laser tag, Phil wanted to come, but he had his work to do. Phil is a great guy, a Little naïve sometimes but yeah good guy, and Claire and I are getting along fine, I even bought her a best-selling horror genre book, and she loved it. We both read the book and had a discussion over wine, here was wine, mine was apple juice." I said into the camera.

Phil is enjoying the bounty of plums that are available in his garden.

We are even eating cookies at breakfast.

In the afternoon, Phil was showing us his magic trick when Mitch came in.

Haley, Luke, and I went to make the pie.

Meanwhile, Alex is enjoying her summer building homes for the poor.

She comes home a week early.

"Babe, would you like some pie? And how was your-" I asked when I saw Alex in the living room.

"Not now, Ryan, this has been the worst summer ever!" Said Alex and storm off to her room.

Apparently, I got to know what happen to her after she calm down a little, her tent got ruined, and she had to sleep outside under a piece of plywood, she had been bitten by every outdoor creature alive, and she almost suffered the same fate as her tent mate, who got a nail gun in the foot and was stuck in the same spot until Alex got her out of it.

I hugged Alex while she was telling me her story.

She comes home and I don't want to say it, but the luck runs out completely.

I got to know more about what happened to Alex over the breakfast table while we were eating the baked pie.

Neither Phil nor Claire wants to blame it on Alex, but later, they try to convince her to stick it out for another week and finish her summer project because she liked to finish things, but Alex sees right through it.

She was beyond ticked off. So, she asked me to drive around town to release her frustration. 'She is just edgy because of the bad trip; she is your girlfriend' This sentence is repeated in my head when she started to complain about her trip and her family.

So just to keep her quiet for a sec, I Kissed her.

"Babe, calm down, relax Now you are home, you are not going back, right?" Said I after releasing her from the kiss.

"Oh, ya, sorry, I just don't know how my parents said that," said Alex.

"Babe, you are the most important part of the family who holds them like glue, without you, they won't survive, and also I know, I wouldn't," I said while looking at her. And hold her and kissed her knuckle.

"Don't worry, I have a plan, for now, let's go back home, I will tell you about the plan along the way, Ok? Now give me a smile!" I said while looking at her.

"OK" She smiled, and I kissed her on the cheek, and we went back home.

After arriving. She did exactly like the plan, she put an act of being angry at her parents, or she was just angry. After soon he found the reason why her parents said that and again storm outside the house. I ran toward her.

Soon I bought her back inside, but she insisted she will go back to that hellhole.

And no amount of apology from anyone is going to stop her from leaving. Believe me, everyone tried. Even Phil, whose apologies didn't sound like an apology.

This is until she sees the light on top of Haley's laptop, indicating the webcam is on. And it has been on all summer, meaning we now know why Haley has 50,000 visitors to her video blog. She helped closed the webcam.

A fire has started in the oven, and it's Claire's book of War and Peace. The one she had only read two pages of because she binge-watched every Real Housewives series instead of reading War and Peace.

Phil tries to use the Extinguisher, of course, Phil doesn't know how to operate the fire extinguisher very well but guess who knows? Of course, Alex.

After stopping the fire, she still insisted on going back to the summer camp.

Phil and Luke insist she at least tries some of their rhubarb pie before she leaves, only they forget to take the leaves off the rhubarbs, which only Alex knows are poisonous.

Given the now sees they will not have survived without her and are just living a life of delusion, she looks toward me and smiles, she figures that is good enough to not leave them.

In the end, they hugged it out, and I was also invited into the hug.

AN: Sorry Everyone Late for the Update, a MAssive work load has been making me not have much time for any other extracurricular activities. This month is gonna be like this. i had to use my weekend to write this, hope you guys understand and i might have to stop or put on hiatus some work.
